Pneumonia Brings Death To Mr. Becker
After Short Illness, August Becker Passes To His Reward At His Home In Ottoville – Was Ill Two Weeks Prior To His Demise – Funeral Services At Ottoville Tuesday Morning
            August Becker, aged resident of Ottoville, answered the final summons of death at his home Friday evening at 8 o’clock. Mr. Becker contracted a severe case of pneumonia two weeks prior to his death and was bedfast for about a week, his condition gradually grew worse until he passed away at the age of seventy-one years and twelve days.
            Mr. Becker was born in Glandorf, Germany, December 27, 1854 coming to this country at the age of sixteen years. For several years after his arrival in this country he made his home near Glandorf, Ohio, then moved to Ottoville, where the remainder of his life was spent. At the age of twenty-two years, he was married to miss Mary Meyer at Glandorf and two this union, eleven children were born.
            Surviving to mourn his loss other than his large circle of friends are his wife, seven sons, J. A. Becker, of Dayton; Rev. J. J. Becker of Pulaski, Ind.; William and Frank, of Ottoville; Ben Becker of Frankfort, Ind.; Ed Becker of this city; and Gus at home; and four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Schlagbaum and Mrs. Peter Fischbach of Ottoville; Mrs. Lawrence Hoffman of Columbus Grove; and Miss Lucinda Becker at home. Surviving are also twenty-nine grandchildren, one brother, Charles Becker, of Ft. Jennings, and one sister, Mrs. Ben Goecke, of St. Henry, Ohio.
            The deceased man was a member of the Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph’s Society.
            Funeral services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, of Ottoville, Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock, and burial will be made in the Ottoville cemetery.
