DEATH CALLS JOSEPH BOHN
Retired Farmer Of Near Ottoville Dies
Joseph Bohn, life long and
respected citizen of Ottoville and Community, passed sway at the home of Ms
son, Joseph Bonn, Jr., In Ottoville, Friday morning shortly after four o'clock
after a serious illness of only one day. Tie had been in falling health for
almost a year, however.
Mr. Bohn was born on a farm north
of Ottoville on September 22, 1864, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bohn. He was
united in marriage to Miss Mary Gergen In the Immaculate Conception church, at
Ottoville on November 4, 1896, at which time he and Mrs. Bonn located on a farm
near the Bohn homestead and where he resided until 1919 when he retired from
active farming. Mrs. Bohn passed away on April 13, 1918 Mr. Bohn was
seventy-five years, four months and seventeen days of age.
He leaves to mourn their loss three
daughters, Mrs. Gephard Gasser Jr., Mrs. Ben Honigford and Mrs. John A.
Plescher, all of near Ottoville; two sons, Sylvester and Joseph Bohn, of
Ottoville, and seventeen grandchildren.
Funeral services were held In
Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville Monday morning at nine o'clock.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

FUNERAL FOR HULDA BUCK
Ottoville Native Buried at Kalida Tuesday
Mrs. Hulda Buck,
57, of 900 Dingledine-av, died at 2:00 p. m. Sunday in Memorial hospital after
an extended illness. Mrs. Buck, born in Ottoville, was a resident of Lima for
20 years.
She is survived by
her husband, Daniel W.; three daughters, Mrs. Merritt Colton and Mrs. Charles
Hames of Lima; and Mrs. F. L. Thompson of Ottawa; son, Lester Huck of Lima; two
sisters, Mrs. Henry Robinson of Lima and Mrs. J. W. Wisener of New York; a
brother, George Alguire of Lima; her mother, Mrs. Lucy Alguire of Lima; and six
grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be held at the Kalida Methodist church at 2 p. m. Tuesday with Rev. C. D.
Ringtenberg, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Kalida cemetery
with the Siferd and Son funeral home in
charge.
The body will be
removed to the family residence Monday afternoon to remain until time of
services. Rites will be conducted at the residence at 8 p. m. Monday by the
Daughters of America, of which Mrs. Buck was a member.

DEATH CALLS AGED FARMER
Daniel Miller Rites Held At Ottoville
Daniel F. Miller, well-known farmer
of three and one-half miles northwest of Ottoville, died Wednesday afternoon of
last week after an Illness of almost months. Complications by infirmities of
age caused his death.
Mr. Miller, son of Peter and Anna
Marie Miller, was born in Bismarck, Ohio, on February 22, of age at the time of
his death.
May 23, 1882, he was married to
Miss Catherine Ringlein at Bismarck where the couple re-sided for the next ten
years. Since 1896 Mr. Miller resided on the farm where his death occurred. His
wife preceded him in death on May 23, 1933.
He is survived by four daughters,
Mrs. J. H. Nolte, Miss Elizabeth and Miss Ida Miller, Toledo, Catherine Miller,
at home; three eons, Frank J. Miller, Ottoville; Detroit, and John, He also
leaves ten grandchildren and two sisters. A son, a daughter and a sister
preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday
morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception Church at Ottoville with
Father Henry Gerwert, pastor, in charge. Interment was made in the parish
cemetery.

RITES HELD AT OTTOVILLE
Complications Cause Of Mrs. Zahm's Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary
Zahm, widow of the late John Zahm, were held in the Immaculate Conception
church at Ottoville, Friday morning at nine o'clock. Mrs. Zahm passed away
Tuesday evening of last week after a serious illness of two weeks.
She had been in failing health however, since last fall when she
underwent a major operation.
Mrs. Zahm was born In Ottoville on December 9, 1868,
the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Rekart, and was seventy-one years, three
months and fourteen days of age.
She was united in marriage to John
Zahm at Ottoville on October 28, 1896, at Ottoville. He preceded her in death
on March 1937. A son, Albert, also preceded his mother in death.
She is survived by four daughters,
Mrs. Marie Connell, Delphos; Mrs. J. B. Mensing, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Harold
Nelson, Detroit; and Mrs. Leon Metcalfe, at home and three-grandchildren.
Rev. Henry Gerwert, pastor of the
church, officiated at the last rites, and Interment was made in the parish
cemetery.

DEATH OF MRS. WALLEN OCCURS AT RUSHMORE
Mrs. Susanna Elizabeth Wallen Dies Thursday
After Long Illness —Funeral at Ft. Jennings Monday Morning.
Mrs. Susanna"
Elizabeth Wallen died at her home in Rushmore Thursday evening following an
illness of more than two years.
She was born in
Ottoville on September 7, 1878, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Ernst. On
July 14, 1902, she was united in marriage, to Henry Rumschlag. To
this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Clara
C. Balliet, Ohio City; and Mrs. Alfreda M. Schrieber, Leipsic. Mr. Rumschlag's
death occurred on March 9, 1904. Mrs.
Rumschlag was married to Joseph J. Wallen on
February 27, 1911. A son and two daughters were born to this marriage. They
are: August J. Wallen, at home; and Mrs. George Bullis, Rushmore; and Miss
Sophia Wallen, Lima. Mr. Wallen preceded his wife In death on April 30, 1937.
When her death occurred, Mrs. Wallen was sixty-one years, six months and
eighteen days of age.
In addition to her
four daughters and one son, she is survived by four stepsons, Frank, John,
George and Henry Rumschlag; twelve grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sam
Martin, and a brother, Henry Ernst, both of
Delphos.
Services will be
conducted at St. Joseph's church In Fort Jennings at 9:00 o'clock Monday
morning. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The remains were
removed from the Jauman-Kolkmeyer Funeral home to the Wallen residence Friday
afternoon.

Rites Held at Ottoville Funeral Held Friday for J. A.
Wannemacher
Last rites were held Friday morning
in the Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville for John A. Wannemacher, who
passed away at his home in that village Tuesday morning at eleven-twenty. He
had been ill for almost a year and his condition became serious the day before
his death. He suffered from Angina Pectoris, which caused his death.
Mr. Wannemacher was born in
Ottoville on September 18, 1863, the son of Carl and Stephania Wannemacher, and
when his death occurred he was seventy-six years, eight months and six days of
age.
He was united in marriage to Miss
Catherine Bonholzer and following there marriage they resided on the farm. Mrs.
Wannemacher passed away on September 21, 1897, and following her death Mr.
Wannemacher moved to town to reside with his sister, Miss Fanny Wannemacher.
Mr. Wannemacher was a life-long
resident of Ottoville and community, and was held in high esteem by all who new
him. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception parish, the St.
Joseph's society and was secretary of the Ottoville Farmers' Mutual Aid
Society.
He leaves to mourn their loss, two
daughters, Mrs. L. W. Heckman, Ottoville; Mrs. Ray Schaaf, Dayton; two
brothers, J. C. Wannemacher, Columbus, and Stephen Wannemacher, Lima; a sister,
Miss Fanny Wannemacher, and nine grandchildren. Four brothers preceeded him in
death.
Rev. Henry Gerwert, pastor of the
Ottoville church, officiated at the funeral services, and internment was made in
the parish cemetery.

Ferd Vincke Rites Held
Retired Businessman Of Ottoville Called
Ferdinand F. Vincke, wellknown and prominent retired
businessman of Ottoville, died at his home in that village Sunday morning at
one o'clock. His death followed an illness of several days due to senility.
Mr. Vincke was born at Gretesch,
Germany, on May 21, 1851, the son of Henry and Anna Vincke. He was eighty-nine
years of age. At the age of twenty-five he came to this country and first
located in Cincinnati, and later at Ottoville.
He was first employed at Ottoville
in the Gerhard Otte Sr. general store, and then went into a partnership with
Max Winkleman in the general store business. Mr. Vincke later purchased the
interest of Mr. Winkleman and continued to operate the store until 1916, when
he retired.
Mr. Vincke was married on November 5, 1878, to Miss Mary
Schlagbaum at Ottoville. Mrs. Vincke passed away on June 3, 1934. He is
survived by four sons, Joseph and Ferdinand of Lima; William and George of Ottoville;
three daughters, Mrs. Anna Giesken, at home; Mrs. Joseph Van Oss, Ottoville,
and Sister Mary Gertrude of the Order of the Poor Handmaids of Christ, Chicago.
He also leaves thirty-one
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Seven granddaughters of Mr. Vincke
are nuns. He was preceded in death by four sons, two of whom died in infancy,
and Frank, died in 1930, and Brother Ralph Vincke of the Precious Blood died in
1936. A sister and four brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception church at
Ottoville, with Rev. Henry Gerwert, the pastor in charge. Interment was made in
the parish cemetery.

Ottoville Businessman Passed Away
Geo. J. Wannemacher Ill Only Three Days
Died In Hospital
Funeral Will Be Held Saturday Morning
George J. Wannemacher, prominent and esteemed
businessman of Ottoville and Delphos, passed away Wednesday evening at
nine-thirty in St. Rita's hospital, Lima. He had been ailing for several weeks
and was only bedfast since Monday. He was removed to the hospital Tuesday
evening. Double pneumonia was given as the direct cause of his demise.
Mr. Wannemacher was born March 13,
1866 at Ottoville the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Wannemacher. He was seventy-six
years of age and resided all his life in Ottoville. He was engaged in the
implement business in that village for forty-one years and for the last
eighteen years also conducted a similar business at Delphos.
Fifty-one years ago he was united
in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Sorg at Fostoria. She preceded him in death
twenty-five years ago. Mr. Wannemacher was well known throughout the county and
community and was highly respected by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn their loss four
children, Miss Estella Wannemacher, at home; Arthur and Leander, of Ottoville,
and Mrs. Otto Friemonth, Toledo; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Flatz, Ottoville, and
Mrs. Wiechart, Cloverdale; four brothers, Andrew, Ottoville, August and Joseph,
Cloverdale, and Paul of Delphos, and seven grandchildren. Two children, three
brothers, and a sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Wannemacher took an active part
in the community and civic affairs and served on the village council at
Ottoville for a number of years. He was also a member of the Catholic Knights
of Ohio.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception church at
Ottoville. Rev. Henry Gerwert, the pastor, will officiate. Interment will be
made in the parish cemetery.

Services At Cloverdale
Mrs. Frank Studenka Died Friday Evening
Funeral services for Mrs. Madeline
Studenka, who died at her home in Muntanna, Ohio, Friday evening at
eight-thirty, were held in St. Barbara's Catholic church at Cloverdale Monday
morning at nine o'clock.
Mrs. Studenka was born in
Czechoslovakia and came top this county in 1914. She has been bedfast for six
months prior to her demise.
She is survived by her husband
Frank; six sons, Joseph, place of residence unknown; Charles of Columbus, Ky.;
John, Frank Jr., Louis and Stephen, at home, and a daughter, Anna also at home.
Rev. Henry Wichman, officiated, at
the last rites and interment was made in the parish cemetery.

Rites Held At Ottoville
Mrs. A. Leininger Died In California
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara
Leininger, of Glendale, Calif., formerly of Ottoville, were held Wednesday
morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville, and
interment was made in the parish cemetery.
Mrs. Leininger passed away Thursday
afternoon of last week as the result of a heart ailment. She was born at
Ottoville, the daughter of Frank and Mary Krebs.
She is survived by her husband
Albert Leininger; a son Charles; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Horstman, Chicago, and
Miss Veronica Krebs, Glendale, and three brothers, Andrew of Sterling Illinois;
Jacob, of Lima, and Fred, of Delphos.

Sunstroke Proves Fatal
John Rayman Died In Toledo Hospital
John Rayman a lifelong Ottoville
resident, died in a Toledo hospital at 3:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. On
Thursday, July 25, he suffered a sunstroke and later contracted pneumonia,
which caused his death.
He was born two miles north of
Ottoville on November 13, 1886 and was the son of Henry and Louise Rayman. For
sometime he had been employed by J. C. Wannemacher and Sons Implement and
Hardware dealers. On June 22, 1913, Mr. Rayman was united in marriage to Lucy
Schimmoeller, daughter of Frank T. and Wilheminia Schimmoeller. Mr. and Mrs.
Rayman resided in Ottoville for six years before moving to their present home,
which is located five miles northeast of Ottoville.
When his death occurred, Mr. Rayman
was fifty-three years, eight months and twenty days of age.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters and five
sons; Glenn at home; Mrs. Melvin Crowe, Toledo; Mary Catherine, Paul, John,
Stanley, Robert and Eugene, at home. Surviving also are two brothers, Henry,
Delphos and Ben west of Ottoville; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Schwertner,
Maidstone Ontario Canada; Mrs. Louis Brockman, Ft. Jennings, and Mrs. Bert
Hardin, Toledo. Two sisters died in infancy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday
morning in the Immaculate Conception church. Rev. Sylvester Schnipke
officiated. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.

Anna Koehl
Koehl Rites At St. John’s On Thursday
Funeral of Mrs. George Koehl to he Held Here
— Mrs. Koehl Survived by Husband, Two Sons and Daughter.
Mrs. George Koehl,
well known in Delphos, died at St. Rita's hospital in Lima at 12:30 p. m.
Monday following a serious illness of six weeks. She bad been in ill health for
the past two years.
Her death was
attributed to a heart condition.
Anna Mary Krebs
was born in Ottoville on May 27, 1882, the daughter of Henry and Theresa Krebs.
Her marriage to George Koehl took place at St. John's on June 6, 1905. All her
married life was silent in Delphos. The Koehl home is located at 232 West.
Fifth street.
When her death
occurred. Mrs. Koehl was fifty-eight year's, flour months and three days of
age. She was a member of St. John's church, the Altar Society, the ladies'
branch of the C. K. of A. and the Sacred Heart League. Surviving are her
husband; two
sons and a daughter, M. L. Koehl, West Second
street; Mrs. Howard Ridenhour, East
Sixth street; and Eugene Koehl, Ottawa; her father, Henry Krebs, Elyria;
and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Catherine
Jauman, East Third street; Mrs. Ed. Schwinnen, Landeck; Mrs. Otto Schmidt,
Lima; and Mrs. Ed. Schneider, South Clay .street; two brothers, Peter and
Albert Krebs, Elyria; and two-half brothers, Waller Krebs, Columbia Station,
Ohio; and William Krebs, Elyria. Mrs. Koehl's mother died forty-nine nine years
ago.
The funeral of
Mrs. Koehl will be held at St. John's church at 9:00 o'clock Thursday morning.
Burial will lie in the church cemetery. The remains will be at the
Jauman-Kolkmeyer funeral- home until the time of services.

Ottoville Lady Called
Services For Aged Citizen Held Monday
Mrs. John Brandehoff, lifelong and
respected citizen of the vicinity of Ottoville, died Friday afternoon at two
o'clock at her home, two and one-half miles northwest of the village. She had
been bedfast for six months prior to her demise, suffering from senility.
Mrs. Brandehoff was born in
Ottoville on July 2, 1860, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Looser. On
November 7, 1878, she was married to John Brandehoff. Thirteen children were
born to this union, ten of whom survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Brandehoff celebrated
their golden wedding in 1928 and in 1938 celebrated their sixtieth anniversary.
Mrs. Brandehoff was eighty years of age.
She is survived by her husband and
the following children; Mrs. Dan Byrne, of near Ottoville; Mrs. Andrew
Deitering and Mrs. Ed Weber, Chesaning Mich.; Frank, William and Gilbert
Brandehoff, Delphos; Mrs. Lucille Gulker, Lima; Mrs. Al Schulien and John
Brandehoff, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Laverne Brandehoff, Cloverdale. Forty-seven
grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held in the
Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville Monday morning at nine o'clock. Rev.
Adrian Brandehoff of Ft. Wayne, grandson, officiated at the services. Burial
was made in the parish cemetery at Ottoville.

UTRUP RITES AT OTTOVILLE
Well Known Farmer is Called To Eternity
Gerhard Utrup, well known resident of three and
one-half miles southwest of Ottoville, died at St. Rita's hospital In Lima at
3:10 p. m. Saturday. Embolism caused his death. On October 9, he underwent a
major operation at the hospital and had been a patient there since that time.
He was born near Ottoville, the son
of Joseph and Anna Utrup. On February 11, 1881 he was united in marriage to
Anna Kehres at Immaculate Conception church In Ottoville. Had he lived until
November 3, he would have been sixty-nine years of age.
He was a director of the Farmers
Mutual Aid Association and a trustee of Monterey Township. His entire life was
spent In the Ottoville vicinity.
In addition to his widow, he is
survived by four sons and three daughters: August, southwest of Ottoville;
Albert, Kalida; Anthony, Akron; Mrs. Anthony Wiechart, Delphos; Helen, at home;
Louis. Leipsic; and Mrs. John Pohl Ft. Jennings he is also survived by four
brothers and two sisters, Henry, Joseph and Paul Utrup, north of Delphos; Frank
Utrup. Columbus Grove; Mrs. William Frisch, Kirby, and Mrs. Joseph Heising
north of Delphos; and twenty-six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
daughter, who died in infancy, and a brother and two sisters.
The funeral was held In Immaculate Conception church In Ottoville
at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery,
Ottoville.

Lauer Rites Wednesday At Ottoville
Ottoville Citizen Died Sunday Afternoon
Was Civic Worker Businessman, Postmaster, Many Years
John P. Lauer, businessman, former postmaster and
civic worker in Ottoville and community, died at his home in that village
Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. He had been ailing for almost three years
and was in serious condition since Wednesday, preceding his death when he suffered
a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Lauer was born in Alsace
Loraine, Germany, on January 13, 1859, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lauer. He
came to this country and located at Ottoville with his parents when a lad of
eleven years.
Following his marriage to Miss Mary
Lause, at Delphos the couple moved to McClure, Ohio, where they resided for
four years. While located in that village, Mr. Lauer built and operated a grain
elevator.
From McClure, Mr. and Mrs. Lauer
moved to Delphos, and in April 1900, moved to Ottoville. Mr. Lauer first
operated a hotel business at Ottoville, and then conducted an elevator there in
partnership with the late Ben Wannemacher. When he sold his interest in the
business to Mr. Wannemacher, he went into the furniture business, which he
conducted for a number of years. He also served as postmaster of Ottoville for
almost twenty-five years.
Mr. Lauer was one of the prominent
citizens of the community, and in his younger years was quite active in
community and parish work. He served as councilman of the Catholic parish for
several years, and was also a member of the local board of education.
He is survived by three sons; Alex,
of Perrysburg; Fred, of Toledo; and Arnold of Ottoville; three daughters; Mrs.
Lillian Krupp, of Ottoville; Mrs. Leo Otte, Toledo; and Mrs. William Hubbard,
Cleveland; three brothers, Nicholas Lauer, Ottoville; Alex Lauer, Detroit;
Charles Lauer, Seattle Washington; thirty-one grandchildren and fourteen
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife who died on March 7,
1930; a daughter and a son, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held in the
Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville Wednesday morning at nine o'clock.
Interment was made in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Joseph Schurer Rites Held Saturday
Mrs. Joseph Schurer, former
resident of Ottoville, died in St. Rita's hospital, Lima, Wednesday morning.
She had been ill for one month but pneumonia was the immediate cause of her
demise.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Van Oss and was born in Minster on August 18, 1871. She moved to Delphos
with her parents when a child and several years later moved to Ottoville. She
was married to Joseph Schurer at Ottoville in 1915.
She is survived by her husband, a
foster daughter, Mary Lou Schaffner, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Kaple,
Lima; Mrs. William Schlenbach, Delphos and Mrs. George Vincke, Ottoville; and
three brothers, Theodore, George and Joseph Van Oss, Ottoville.
Funeral services were held in the
Immaculate Conception church, Saturday morning at nine o'clock and burial was
made in the parish cemetery.

Ottoville Lady Called
Services Held Saturday For Mrs. Ruen
Mrs. Fred Ruen died Wednesday of
last week at her home one and one-half miles northwest of Ottoville. She had
been ailing for the last year and was seriously ill for four days suffering
from pneumonia.
Mrs. Ruen was born on Wolforst, Austria, on November
6, 1863, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gasser. The family came to Delphos
in 1883 and settled on a farm near Ottoville. She was married to Fred Ruen at
Ottoville on September 20, 1892. Her husband preceded her in depth on November
10, 1934. She was seventy-seven years of age.
She is survived by two daughters,
Sister Mary Salome, Rome City Indiana; Mrs. Edwin Herman, of near Ottoville; a
son Alois, at home; a brother, Gephart Gasser, Delphos, and eight
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, two sisters, four
half-sisters, and a half-brother.
Funeral services were held Saturday
morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville and
interment in the parish cemetery.

Brandehoff Rites Held
Aged Ottoville Farmer Is Called To Reward
Another aged resident and pioneer
of Monterey township passed into eternity when John Brandehoff, Sr. answered
the final call at his home northwest of Ottoville, Monday at two o'clock. He
had been failing for some time and his condition was regarded as serious for a
week before his death.
Mr. Brandehoff's death occurred on the same farm
where he was born and where he spent his entire life. He was born on February
4, 1858, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brandehoff, and was eighty-two years of
age.
He was married to Elizabeth Looser,
at Ottoville, on November 7, 1878. Thirteen children, ten of whom are living,
were born to this union. In 1938 Mr. and Mrs. Brandehoff observed their
sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Brandehoff passed away on October 4, of this
year.
Mr. Brandehoff retired from active
farming about ten years ago. The following children survive: Mrs. Dan Byrne,
northwest of Ottoville; Mrs. Andrew Deitering and Mrs. Edward Weber, Chesaning
Mich.; Frank, William and Gilbert, of Delphos; Mrs. Lucille Gulker, Lima; Mrs.
Al Schulien and John of Ft. Wayne, and Laverne Brandehoff of Cloverdale.
Forty-seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Wednesday morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception church at
Ottoville. Rev. Adrian Brandehoff, a grandson, officiated. Burial was made in
the parish cemetery.

Death Calls H. Deitering
Life Long Resident Of Near Ottoville Dies
Henry H. Deitering, prominent life
long resident of Monterey township, died at his home two and one-half miles
northwest of Ottoville, Thursday evening ay nine-thirty after a serious illness
if three weeks. He had been an invalid for the past five years.
Mr. Dietering was born a farm north
of Ottoville on March 10, 1863, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dietering. He was
married to Miss Catherine Beining at Ottoville on November 17, 1897, and since
their marriage, the couple resided on the same farm. Mr. Dietering was
seventy-seven years of age.
He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, six sons;
John, of Portland Oregon; Albert, of Wapakoneta; Joseph, of Delphos; Oliver, of
Ft. Wayne; Rudolph and Leo, of Ottoville; two daughters; Mrs. Henry Koester and
Miss Isadore Miller, Ottoville; thirty-one grandchildren; three brothers,
Joseph and Andrew of Chesaning Mich.; Frank, of Bancroft Iowa; two sisters,
Mrs. George Wenzlick , Ottoville; and Mrs. Peter Neitling, Chesaning Mich. He
was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday
morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception Catholic church at
Ottoville and the remains were laid to rest in the parish cemetery.

Young Man Died Monday In Toledo
Funeral services for Leo Eickholt
of Toledo, former resident of Putnam county, was held Wednesday morning at nine
o'clock in the Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville. Mr. Eickholt died at
his home in Toledo early Monday after a two year illness.
He was born at Cloverdale on February 25, 1903, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Eickholt. In July 1932, he was married at Cloverdale to Miss Thelma
Martin. The couple resided in Toledo most of their married life. He was
thirty-six years of age.
He is survived by his widow; two children, Barbara
and Joseph, at home; his mother Mrs. Maude Eickholt, Cloverdale; two sisters,
Miss Vera Eickholt and Mrs. Bernice Miller, Toledo; two brothers, Arlo of
Toledo, and Cleo of Cloverdale.
The remains were interred in the
Catholic cemetery at Ottoville.

Rites For Mrs. Schmersal Held Thursday
Mrs. Henry Schmersal, lifelong
resident of Ottoville and vicinity, answered the call of death at her home one
mile west of that village Sunday evening at eight o'clock after an illness of
two weeks.
Mrs. Schmersal was born at Ft.
Jennings on February 16, 1863, the daughter of Bernard and Christina Pavel. She
was seventy-six years of age.
On April, 18, 1883, she was married
to Bernard Looser at Ottoville. Mr. Looser died on February 8, 1895. She was
married to Henry Schmersal at Ottoville on November 17, 1898.
She is survived by her husband and the following children; Henry,
Dayton; Joseph Looser, Ft. Jennings; William Looser and Mrs. Charles Leis,
Ottoville; Charles Looser and Miss Clara Looser at home; and Florian Schmersal,
Delphos. A step-son, Albert Schmersal, Delphos, a brother Amos Pavel, Delphos
and a sister, Mrs. John Brabant, also of Delphos. A sister, two brothers and a
son preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held in the
Immaculate Conception church at Ottoville Thursday morning at nine o'clock.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Well Known Citizen Of County Dies
Injuries Fatal To August Calvelage Of Ottoville

Served As Trustee For Number OF Years
August Calvelage, prominent
resident of Ottoville and highly esteemed citizen of Putnam County, died in St.
Rita's hospital, Lima, Saturday morning at four-thirty, as the result of
injuries received Thursday night in an automobile accident on route 66, two and
one-half miles north of Delphos.
Mr. Calvelage was returning to his
home in Ottoville from Delphos, when he apparently lost control of the
automobile, which crashed into an Ohio Power company pole. He was alone at the
time and the exact cause of the accident is not known. The car was practically
demolished. Mr. Calvelage sustained internal injuries, which caused his death.
The only noticeable injury received was a cut on his head.
Mr. Calvelage was born a farm a
half mile southwest of Ft. Jennings on March 3, 1875, the son of Henry and
Caroline Calvelage. He was married to Miss Catherine Wondorle, and with the
exception of a year spent in Lima, Mr. and Mrs. Calvelage resided on a farm in
Jackson township, one and one-half miles east of Ottoville, until 1935 when
they moved to Ottoville.
Mr. Calvelage was a public spirited citizen of the county and
community, and maintained a progressive outlook on life. Fairness in all of his
dealings was an outstanding virtue. He served his community as a township
trustee for a number of years and was a faithful public servant. In 1936 and a
gain in 1940 he was a candidate for the nomination of county commissioner on
the Democratic ticket, and on each occasion was a close third in a large field
of candidates. He was neighborly, friendly and charitable at all times and was
respected by all who new him.
At the time of his death he was
sixty-five years, nine months and twenty-five days of age.
He leaves to mourn their loss his bereaved widow; a son, Alex of
Ottoville, and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ihm, Altoona Pa.; four brothers,
Joseph and Jacob Calvelage, of Ft. Jennings; Walter of near Ottoville, and
Edward of near Ft. Jennings; a sister, Miss Dora Calvelage, of Toledo, and a
granddaughter. Three brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday
morning at nine o'clock in the Immaculate Conception Catholic church at
Ottoville, with Rev. Henry Gerwert the pastor officiating. Interment was made
in the parish cemetery.
