Albert A. Perrin
Albert Andrew Perrin, 73, Ottoville died at his home at
6:35 p.m. Sunday following an, illness of three-months.
A lifelong resident of Ottoville, he was born
October 9, 1890, to Joseph and Margaret Perrin.
He was a retired laborer and was never married. His only survivors are nephews and nieces.

Wednesday morning in the Immaculate
Conception, Catholic Church at
Ottoville; of which he was a member, by Msgr. J. F. Frommherz. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery there.

Pauline C. Rellinger
Mrs. Pauline C. Rellinger, 72, of Ft. Jennings, died
at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in St.
Rita's Hospital, Lima, after a serious illness of 5 days.
She was born at Ottoville June 26, 1891; the daughter of John and Mary
(Wannemacher) Flatz. She was married at Ottoville to, August Rellinger, who
died March 22, 1955.
She is survived by
four sons and four daughters: Oscar, Fremont, John O. and Paul, both of Ft.
Jennngs, and Arthur of Ottoville; Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Metzger, Ft. Jennings,
Mrs. Harold (Imelda) Stechschulte, Kalida; Mrs. Russell (Lucina) Donaldson, Ft.
Jennings, and Mrs. Donald (Isabella) Markward, Delphos; 33 grandchildren.
Mrs. Rellinger was a member of St.
Joseph's Catholic Church in Ft. Jennings, the Altar Rosary Society and the C.
L. of C. Requiem High Mass will be said at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday
morning.
Burial will be made in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Ottoville. Friends may call at the Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral
Home in Ottoville after 7:00 p.m.
this evening, Thursday. The C. L. of C. will recite the rosary at 8:00 p. m. Friday.

Kathryn A. Krienbrink
Mrs. Kathryn A. Kreinbrink, 66 route 3 Ft. Jennings, died at her home a t 2:30 a.m. Friday following an illness
of six weeks.
Funeral services were, held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic
Church at Ft. Jennings. Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F.
Frommherz of Ottoville officiated and burial was, in St. Mary's Cemetery
at Ottoville.
Mrs. Kreinbbrink was, born in Glandorf on April 30, 1897, the daughter of Frank and Anna
Horstman. She married August J. Kreinbrink on February 7, 1934 and he
survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
Donald (Phyllis) Hohenbrink, and
a son, Norman A. Kreinbrink, both
of Ottawa; five grandchildren a sister, Miss Mary Horstman, route, 3, Ft.
Jennings.
She was a member of the Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, in Ottoville.

Sandra Ann Martin
Sandra Ann Martin, infant daughter
of James H. and Patricia Martin, died at birth Sunday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima Graveside rites were held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville, Monday.
Surviving with the parents are a brother Dana; and two sisters, Kathy and Linda all at
home; and the grand mothers, Mrs.
Ida Martin, and Mrs. Emma Schnipke, both of Ottoville.

Catherine M. Calvelage
Mrs. Katherine M. Calvelage, 81, formerly of
Ottoville and more recently a resident at the Deters home in Glandorf, died in
St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, at 3:25 Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Calvelage was born at Delphos
on April 2, 1882, a daughter of John and Maty Wonderly. She was married, to August Calvelage and he preceded her in death in 1940.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ihm, of
Altoona, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs.
Anna Ulm, of Phoenix, Arz., and Mrs. Tillie Wischmeyer, of Oakland, Calif.; and
three brothers, Joseph and Carl Wonderly, of Canton, and, Anthony Wonderly, of
San Francisco, Calif.
Mrs. Calvelage was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, at Ottoville, where funeral services,
will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning. Burial
will be made in the parish cemetery.
The body is at the
Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral Home in Ottoville, where the rosary will be
recited at eight o’clock Thursday evening.

Paul John Miller
Paul J. Miller, 73, retired farmer and lifelong resident of the
Ottoville community, died unexpectedly at seven o'clock Tuesday morning as the
result of a heart attack.
He was born at Ottoville on January
6, 1891, the son of Michael and E1izabeth Miller. He never married.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Joseph
Recker, Delphos: Miss Rose Miller,
Ottoville; Mrs. Anthony Dibling, Carey and Mrs. John Schwab, Deshler, and a brother, Victor Miller, of Ft.
Jennings.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the parish. A veteran of World War
I, he was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ottoville.
Services will be held in the Ottoville church at. 10 o'clock Friday morning. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Veterans
of Foreign Wars will conduct military services at the cemetery.
The body is at the Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral
Home in Ottoville where the rosary will be recited at eight o'clock Thursday
evening.

Verona Fischbach
Mrs. Verona M. Fischbach, 66, resident of Ottoville, died at her
home at 10:40 Tuesday night,
following an illness of one day, and due to a heart attack.
She was born at Ottoville on
October 29, 1897, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Becker. She was
married to Peter Fischbach on May 25,
1921.
Surviving with the husband are four sons, Eugene,
Gerald and Victor, all of Ottoville, and James Fischbach, of Pandora: a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Hoffman, of Columbus Grove, and three brothers,
Edward Becker, of Delphos; Ben Becker of
Frankfort, Indiana, August Becker, of Ottoville.
Mrs. Fischbach was a member of, the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar-Rosary Society of the parish,
and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services were incomplete
Wednesday morning, but will probably be held in the Ottoville church Saturday
morning. The body will be at Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral Home at
Ottoville.

Mary B. Miller
Mrs. Mary B. Miller, 94, died at 8:30 a.m. this morning, Thursday, at the
Del-Ward Nursing Home in Delphos after an illness of six months.
Mrs. Miller was born
in Bucyrus, Ohio, April 14, 1869, the daughter of Mathias and Dorothy Yocklin.
She was married to George Miller on April 14, 1891. He died May 18, 1959.
Surviving are three sons, Adolph
S., and George L., both of Ottoville, and Anthony A. of Piqua, and one
daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Mary) Liebrecht, of Ottoville, 23 grandchildren and 55
great-grandchildren. She also raised a nephew, William Yocklin of Defiance.
Three sons, Albert, Henry and Joseph, are deceased. Four sisters and one
brother are also deceased.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in Ottoville and a member of the Alter-Rosary Society of the
church.
A Requiem High Mass will be read at
10:00 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be made in St.
Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the
Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Clark Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The rosary will
be recited at the funeral home at 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

Oliver J. Beining, 68, route 2, Ft. Jennings, died at 11:40 p.m.
Saturday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, following an extended illness.
Mr. Beining
was born March 18, 1895, in Ottoville, the son of Henry and Mary Beining. He
married Elizabeth Gasser in 1920 and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Julius, Donald and Robert,
all of route 3, Ft. Jennings; and Paul, Woodfield; five daughters, Mrs. Linus
Berlsman, route 2, Spencerville; Mrs. Richard Baxter, Van Wert; sister Mary
Julianna C.PP.S., Dayton; Mrs. Bernard Reindel, route 3, Delphos; and Mrs.
Harold Schroeder, route 3, Delphos; a brother, Theodore, route 2 Ft. Jennings;
three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Deitering, route 3, Ft. Jennings; Mrs. Elizabeth
Moeggenberg, route 3, Alma, Mich.; and Mrs. Rose Koester, Ottoville, and 42
Grandchildren.
Mr. Beining
was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, and its
Holy Name Society.
Funeral
services were held in the church at 10 a.m., Wednesday. Rt. Rev. J. F.
Frommherz sang the Requiem High Mass and burial was in the church cemetery.

Susan Ann Gasser
Susan Ann
Gasser, 16-month-old daughter of Robert and Dorothy Gasser of Ottoville, died
at 1 p.m. Tuesday at her home. The infant had a congenital heart defect.
Surviving
in addition to the parents are a sister, Janet, four brothers, Michael,
Kenneth, Robert Jr., and Keith all at home; and the paternal grandparents, Mrs.
And Mrs. William Gasser of Ottoville.
An Angel
Mass was sung at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Church in
Ottoville by Msgr. J. F. Frommherz. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery there.

Norman N. Grote
Norman N. Grote 13-month-old son of Norbert and Ruth Grote, of northeast
of Ottoville, was pronounced dead on arrival at a physician's office at 7:30
Friday morning.
The infant has been struck by a
tractor, operated by the father, who did not
notice the child approaching the vehicle.
The child was born at St. Rita's
Hospital, Lima, on March 5, 1963, and in addition to the parents is survived by
five brothers and sisters, Dennis, Patricia, Michael, Diana Jean and David, all
at home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boecker, of route 3, Fort
Jennings, and Mrs. Anna Grote, also of route 3, Ft. Jennings.
Mass of the Angels was offered in
the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Ottoville, at 8:00 Monday morning.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Kevin John
Burgei, 2-month old son of Thomas and Norma (Lucke) Burgei, Rt. 3, Delphos,
died 6:30 a.m. today in his home. He had been ill two days.
He was born

John Joseph Schmitt
Ottoville Lad Drowned in Quarry Near Jennings
Tragedy Occurred
Saturday Morning
A 14-year old Ottoville boy who could not swim drowned Saturday in the,
Ft. Jennings quarry located at the south edge of Ft. Jennings, while his
two sisters and a brother watched helplessly from the bank.
The victim. John Schmitt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schmitt, had
jumped into the water apparently, not realizing the water was over his head.
His body was recovered in 20 feet of water.
The Schmitt children had gone to the quarry to go swimming with Anthony
Stepleton, 18, of Delphos. John and the Stepleton youth
jumped off the bank into the water at a spot they believed to be shallow.
The Stepleton youth was able to swim and attempted to bring in the
drowning boy but John panicked and fought off his would be rescuer.
His sisters, Catherine, 18, and Caroline, 16, and
brother, Thomas 10 were unable to
swim and could not go to his aid.
Stepleton told Sheriff James Ruhe that he thought John could swim.
"When, I saw he was in trouble, he said. “I tried to
help him, but he was frightened, He kept grabbing me and I kept
going down. I knew I couldn't bring him in so I went
for help.”
James Julian, 40, who lives nearby in a house trailer, had walked to the
quarry for a bucket of water when Stepleton reached him. Julian, a good
swimmer, dived into the quarry, but had to search for 20 minutes before finding the Schmitt boy's body.
The sheriff's department arrived with a resuscitator and worked in vain
to revive the boy. Putnam County Coroner Dr. A. P. Daniel ruled death by
accidental drowning, at 9:30 a.m.
Stepelton had come from
Delphos to Ottoville Saturday morning to pick up the Schmitt youngsters for the
trip to the quarry, four miles away.
John was born June 27, 1949,
in Lima St. Rita's hospital,
to Walter and Mary (Vinke) Schmitt.
His parents survive along with the two sisters and brother; and
grandparents, Mrs. George Vinke, Ottoville and Joseph Schmitt,
Leipsic.
A freshman at Ottoville High School, he was a member of Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church.
Services were at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday In the church and burial was in
St. Mary's Cemetery.

Wenzel J. Klima
Wenzel J. Klima, 77, Ottoville, died at 11:10 a.m. Sunday in Lima, St.
Rita’s Hospital following an illness of six weeks. He was a former Ottoville
police Marshall, Fire chief, and had served as president of the Ottoville
Telephone Company.
A lifelong
resident of the Ottoville community he was born there on December 19, 1886, the
son of Wenzel and Teckla Klima. He married Emma Martin and she survives.
Also
surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Bertha) Spieles, Delphos; Mrs. Gene
(Catherine) Simmons, Lima; and Mrs. Louis (Sally) Klausing, Delphos; four sons,
William, Anthony and Leonard, all of Ottoville, and Vincent of Delphos; 23
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister Mary Meyer, Kalida.
He was a
member if the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, the Holy Name
Society and the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral
services were held in the church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rt. Rev. Msgr.
J. F. Frommherz officiating at the requiem high mass. Burial was in the church
cemetery.

Theodore A. Pohlman
Theodore A.
Pohlman, 53, farmer of near Middlepoint, died suddenly of a heart attack at
eight o’clock Sunday evening while bowling in Van Wert.
He was born
in Putnam County, south of Ottoville on March 18, 1911, a son of
Alexander and Philomena Pohlman. In 1962 he was married to Bernadette Volk.

operator for the Putnam County Sentinel.
Mr. Pohlman

Services
were held at nine o’clock Wednesday morning in the church. Burial was made in
the parish cemetery.

Joseph P. Schmitt, 68, died
at his home northeast of Ottawa at six
o'clock Saturday morning. He had
been in failing health for three months.
Mr. Schmitt was born at, Ottoville
on May 11, 1896, the son of Peter
and Louisa Schmitt. He was
married to Lucy Miller in 1916. She
preceded him in death in 1957.
He is survived by a son, Walter, of Ottoville; four daughters,
Mrs. Henry Boecker. of Ottoville; Mrs. Ross Benton, of Leipsic; Mrs. Eugene
Siefer, of route l, Leipsic, and Mrs. Bernard Wortkoetter, of Glandorf; 31
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He also leaves three brothers,
Sylvester, of River Rouge Mich.; Elmer, of Ottoville, and Eugene, of Muskegon,
Mich., and six sisters. Mrs. Andy Altenberger, Mrs. Carl Gruelich. Mrs. Joseph
Honigfort and Mrs. Robert Fortman, of Ottoville: Mrs. W. M. Weber, of Inkster
Mich., and Mrs. Frank Korte of Glandorf.
Funeral services were held in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church,
Ottawa, at 9:30 Tuesday morning.
The Rev. Florian Hartke
officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.

Alex Odenweller, Well Known Grain
Dealer, Succumbs
Alex Odenweller, 82, Ottoville, and, well known grain dealer in
northwestern Ohio, died in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, at 3:30 Monday morning.
Mr. Odenweller was born at Delphos on February 10, 1882, the son of
Louis and Margaret Odenweller. He was co-owner of the Odenweller Milling
Company with his sons in Ottoville, and in four other communities
in northwestern Ohio.
On June 7, 1905, he was married to Bertha Flannigan. She
preceded him in death in 1932.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas, of Delphos; James and Eugene, of
Ottoville; three daughters, Mrs. M.
L. (Kathleen) Koehl, of Toledo;
Mrs. Eugene (Irene) Ricker, of Delphos, and Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Fortman, of
Ottawa; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and three brothers,
Sylvester, of Delphos, Louis, of Detroit, and Arnold, of Lima.
Mr. Odenweller was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, and the Holy Name Society of the parish.
Funeral services were held in
the church at 9:30 Thursday morning. The Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiated. Burial was made in St. John’s
Cemetery at Delphos.

Walter J. Bigelow
Mayor Of Ottoville, Died Friday Morning
Mayor
Walter J. Bigelow, 48, of Ottoville, died at two o’clock Friday morning in Van
Wert County Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years and
seriously ill for the past nine months.
Mr. Bigelow
was born at Ottoville on January 6, 1916, the son of William and Josephine
Bigelow. He was married September 30, 1944, to Leta Adams.
Surviving
are his wife; two sons, Jay and John at home; a daughter, Monta, also at home;
four sisters, Mrs. Edward Wieging and Mrs. Edward Horstman, of Ft. Jennings;
Mrs. Arley Kiefer, of Swanton and Mrs. Howard Spencer, of Ottoville; and three
brothers, William of Toledo, Hilary, of Ottoville, and Ralph, of Hood River,
Oregon.
Mr.
Bigelow, a building contractor, was serving his fifth term as mayor at
Ottoville, and prior to that time had served several terms on the village
council.
He was a
member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a charter member of the
Ottoville Lions Club, and an honorary member of the Ottoville V.F.W.
Services
were held in the church at nine o’clock Monday morning. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.
F. Frommherz officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Matilda Kramer
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m., Monday in the Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church at Ottoville for Mrs. Mathilda Y. Kramer,
76, Ottoville. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz
officiated and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Kramer died
last Thursday noon in Rita's Hospital, Lima, following 10-day illness. Death
was attributed to complications.
She was born February 2, 1886, in Ottoville, to Frank and Amelia
Pohl. She married Edward C. Kramer
in January, 1907, and she died, August 30, 1959.

Man Died Suddenly
Gilbert Bendele, 58 owner of the Ottoville Hardware
and Furniture Store, died suddenly of a heart attack at 10:10 Tuesday morning. .
Mr. Bendele was born at Cloverdale on January 13, 1906, the son of Nicholas, and Amelia A. Bendele. He was married
to Amelia Knippen in 1929.
Surviving are his wife; two
daughters, Mrs. Al (Ruth) Romer
of St. Henry; and Mrs. William (Jean) Igel, of Columbus: a son, Robert, of
Ottoville: nine grandchildren.
His mother Mrs. Amelia Schimmoeller, of Springfield; two
brothers, Leo Schimmoeller of Delphos, and Henry Schimmoeller, of Ottawa, and
five sisters, Mrs. Cloyd Bader and Mrs. Eugene Gladen, both of Springfield;
Mrs. Leo Bendele, of Delphos; Mrs. Lucy Rayman, of Ottoville, and Mrs. Anna
Miller, of Toledo.
Mr. Bendele was a member
of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society,
the Ottoville Lions Club and the V.F.W.
Services will be held in the church at 9:30 Friday morning. Interment will be made in the parish
cemetery.

Charles P. Weber
Charles P. Weber, 96, route 1, Cloverdale, died at 8:l5 p.m. Monday in
his home.
He is a retired farmer, he was one
of the oldest native residents of the Ottoville community.
Funeral services were this morning,
Thursday, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church In Ottoville. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.
F. Frommherz, Intoned the
requiem high mass and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.
Mr. Weber was a lifelong resident of the Ottoville area. He was born near
there on October 11, 1868, the son of Anthony
and Caroline Weber. He was
married in Ottoville in 1887 to Magdalene Obringer, and she
died August 9, 1954.
He was a member of
the Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include five sons and two
daughters, William Weber, Taylor, Mich.; Carl Weber, at home: Frank Weber, Ecorse, Mich. John and Ralph Weber, Ottoville; Mrs. William (Lorena) Kappel,
Ft. Wayne; and Mrs. Elvin (Leona) Rekart, South Gate,
Mich.; and 26, grandchildren.

Sgt. Kenneth Eickholt
C/M Sgt. Kenneth J. Eickholt, 46, died in California Thursday morning
of a heart attack.
He was the son of Mrs. Edward
Eickholt, of Ottoville. He was born in Ottoville, October 26, 1918, the son of Edward and Matilda
(Weber) Eickholt.
He was a graduate of Ottoville High
School and served in the Air Force since 1941.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife Rose and a
son, Jerry, both in California; and six sisters Mrs. Evelyn Brinkman, Continental, Mrs. Norma Smith and Mrs. Lucille Mangas, both of Lima, Mrs.
Jeanette Ruhe and Mrs. Doris German, both of Ottawa and Mrs. Lillian
Kohlrieser, Uniopolis.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. Services were
held in Riverside, Calif., and a
memorial service will be held
Saturday morning in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.

Mrs. Lena Alice O'Brien, 98,
formerly of 869 N. Main, died 7 a.m. Thursday in Villa Marie Nursing Home, Green
Springs, where she resided the past four years. She lived in Lima 64 years.
Mrs. O'Brien was born in Ottoville
May 23, 1866. Her husband Harry, died in 1942.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.
John (Marcella) Hogan of Findlay, four grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Gerard's
Catholic Church, where Requiem High Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Monday by Rev.
Edwin Foley. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7:30 p.m.
Saturday at Cantwell-Sweet Mortuary, where the Rosary will be recited 8 Sunday.

Dora Kramer
Mrs. Dora Kramer, 85, died in her
home 8:30 a.m. Thursday following a heart attack.
She was born in Ottoville Oct. 13,
1879, a daughter of Frank and Louisa (Schlagbaum) Helmkamp. She married Bernard
F. Kramer in Fort Jennings Nov. 21, 1917. He died Sept. 20, 1964.
Mrs. Kramer was a member of St
Joseph's Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Ladies of
Columbus.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.
Francis (Marie) Kerscher of Toledo, a son, Arthur of Fort Jennings, and nine
grandchildren.
Requiem High Mass will be offered
9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. John Miller
celebrant. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
Friends may call at Kolkmeyer and
Helmkamp Funeral Home, Delphos.
