Elizabeth A. Davis

            Elizabeth A. Davis, 56, Columbus Grove, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday January 7, 1992, at her residence.
            Mrs. Davis was born April 3, 1935 in Ottoville to Rudolph and Rose (Nietling) Maag, and her mother survives in Pandora. She married Paul E. Davis on March 13, 1954, and he died November 28, 1989.
            Surviving are a son Donald P., Columbus Grove; seven daughters, Mrs. James (Sheila) Wood, Pandora, Deborah K. Davis, Bluffton, Diana Hauenstein, Leipsic, Mrs. Hugo (Karen) Hooker, Mrs. Jeff (Barb) Friedrich, Mrs. Guy (Kelly) Irwin and Mrs. George (Jill) Daniel, all of Columbus Grove; 21 grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Maag, Forest, Robert Maag, Lima; and two sisters, Lois Stiger, Tiffin, and Mrs. Mike (Marilyn) Hinegardner, Lima.
            Mrs. Davis was employed at Grove Super Market. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Queens Bowling League, Bluffton.
            A funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Rev. Ken Eckstein will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
            Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (today) and after 2 p.m. Thursday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Clara A. Wurst
            Clara A. Wurst, 95, Ottoville, died at 2:47 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 1992, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            Mrs. Wurst was born July 18, 1896 in Ottoville, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Brinkman) Krietemeyer. On July 2, 1919 she married Andy D. Wurst, who died July 15, 1957.
            A homemaker, Mrs. Wurst was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and Landeck Alter Rosary Society.
            Survivors include two sons, Roman, Defiance, and Julius, Delphos; two daughters, Bernie Pohlman, Landeck, and Mary Wannemacher, Defiance; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Christina Ruhe, Continental, Loretta Krietemeyer, Ottawa, and Sister Petronia C. PP. S., of Dayton.
            Several brothers and sisters and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Revs. John Hanacsek and Roger Bonifas officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery, Ottoville.
            Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, handled the arrangements.

Margaret C. Grothause
            Margaret C. Grothause, 68, Ottoville, died at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 1992, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
            She was born January 6, 1924 in Putnam County, the daughter of John G. and Margaret (Thines) Sanders. On June 24, 1950, she married Jerome A. Grothause, who died December 12, 1985.
            Mrs. Grothause worked at the Lima Tank Depot during World War II. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Marcia) Sheppard, Defiance, and Mrs. Daniel (Mary Ann) Gabel, Middle Point; three sons, Timothy Grothause, Dennis Grothause and Wayne Grothause, all of Cloverdale; and nine grandchildren.
            Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1, 1992, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, Rev. Sylvan Obergefell, officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
            Klokmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Dorothy E. Horstman
            Dorothy E. Horstman, 85, Delphos, died at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 1992, at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
            She was born June 12, 1906, in Ottoville to William A. and Josephine (Sanders) Bigelow. Dorothy married Edward F. Horstman on June 24, 1924, in Ottoville, and he died on May 4, 1955.
            Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Richard (Denelda) Brokamp, Ft. Jennings, Mrs. Paul (Rita) Hemker, Delphos, Delores Meeker, Lima, Mrs. Robert (Euletta) Von Sossanm, Ft. Jennings, and Mrs. George (Agatha) Kerns, Ft. Jennings; one sons, Gerald E. Horstman, Delphos; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Vera Wieging, Ft. Jennings, Frances Kiefer, Swanton, and Mrs. Howard (Irene) Spencer, Ottoville.
            She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl and Harold Horstman; one granddaughter; one grandson-in-law; five brothers, Joseph Sanders, and Ralph, William, Walter, and Hilary Bigelow; and two sisters, Esther Metzger, and Margareta Bigelow.
            Mrs. Horstman was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. She was also a member of Ft. Jennings alter Rosary Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Sacred Heart League.
            Mass if Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. Rev. John Shanahan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
            Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (today) and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Delphos. There will be a parish wake service at 8:15 p.m. Thursday evening.
            Preferred memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Ruth Ann Hoehn
            Ruth Ann Hoehn, 73, Ottoville, died at 2:54 a.m. Monday, February 3, 1992, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
            She was born September 13, 1918, in Putnam County to George N. and Anna C. (Wannemacher) Rieger. She married Eugene H. Hoehn on October 16, 1937, and he died January 25, 1990.
            Surviving are two sons, Robert, Bangor, MI, and Paul, Ottoville; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Judy) Brickner, Ottoville, Mrs. Joseph (Doris) Siefker, Kalida, and Mrs. Kenneth (Rita) Halker, Columbus Grove; and two sisters, Euletta Rieger, Ottoville, and Ethel Rieger, Lady Lake, FL.
            She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann Hoehn and a brother George Rieger.
            Mrs. Hoehn was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, its Alter Rosary Society and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
            A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville. An Alter Rosary service will be held at 7:30 Wednesday (tonight) at the funeral home, followed by a C. L. of C. service at 7:45 p.m. and a parish wake service at 8 p.m.

Virgil J. Van Oss
            Virgil J. Van Oss, 81, Lima, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 1992, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
            He was born August 10, 1910, in Ottoville, the son of Joseph and Dora (Vincke) Van Oss.
            Survivors include one son; Terrence P., Stockton, CA; two grandchildren; three brothers, Edmund, Minster, Joseph, Ottoville, and John, Dayton; and two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Dorothy) Hovest, Glandorf, and Mrs. Wilbur (Agnes) Miller, Mt. Victory.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima. Burial was made in Gethsemani Cemetery.
            Hogenkamp-Bonham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William E. Deitering
            Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland, for William E. Deitering, 54, of here. He died at 11:45 p.m. at his residence following an extended illness.
            He was born May 26, 1937, in Ottoville, the son of Leo and Rosa (Murray) Deitering Sr. On Bebruary 7, 1959, he married Janice Mueller, who survives.
            Mr. Deitering had been an employed since 1957 at Philips Display Components in Ottawa. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Ottoville Catholic Knights of Ohio and local 1654 of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
            Survivors include two sons, William Deitering, Jr., of Leispsic, and Douglas Deitering, of Glandorf; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Monica) Barnhart, of Kalida, Mrs. Dick (Marilyn) Dobmeyer, Miller City, Donna Deitering, Bellevue, and Mrs. Rob (Jennifer) Gusinger, Botkins; nine grandchildren; six brothers, Herman Deitering, Troy, Elmer Deitering, Piqua, John Deitering, Sidney, Thomas Deitering, Leipsic, Dan Deitering, Maumee, and Leo Deitering, Jr., Baltimore, MD; and one sister, Mrs. Gerald (Mary Lee) Laudick, Upper Sandusky.
            Revs. Gary Miller and Don Mueller will officiate services. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.
            Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and all day Wednesday at McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8:30.

Arnold W. Gasser

             Arnold W. Gasser, 70, Delphos, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 1992, in Delphos Memorial Nursing Home following an extended illness.
            He was born July 29, 1921, in Ottoville, the son of Frank and Catherine (Burgei) Gasser.
            Survivors include two sons, Dennis and Donald Gasser, both of Ft. Jennings; four daughters, Mrs. Jan (Carol) Bonifas, St. Mary’s, Mrs. Kenneth (Elaine) Miller and Mrs. Kieth (Debra) Dukes, both of Delphos, and Mrs. Charles (Kathleen) McDonald, Clearwater, Fl.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Gasser and Frank Gasser Jr., both of Ottoville; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Felicia) Kill, Delphos and Mrs. Bernard (Marie) Gerdeman, Ottoville.
            Funeral service was Tuesday March 17, 1992, at St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Edmund J. Horstman

            Edmund J. Horstman, 71, LaGrange, IL, formerly of Ottoville, died Sunday, March 22, 1992, at his residence.
            He was born March 2, 1921, to Joseph T. and Lucy Horstman. He married Margaret DuVall in November 1941.
            Other survivors include one daughter, Judith Schultz, Cheyenne, WY; three sons, Robert and Tom Horstman, Lagrange, Il, and James Horstman, Houston, TX; three sisters, Friedonna Eickholt, Viola Friemoth and Louise Miller, all of Ottoville; one brother, Elmer Horstman, Ottoville; and 12 grandchildren.
            Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24, 1992, at the First United Methodist Church, Lagrange, Il. Revs. Sandra Hoke and Jason Reed officiated. Burial was in Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs, Il.
            Arrangements were with Hollowell James Funeral Home, LaGrange, Il.

Florence A. Weeden
            Florence A. Weeden, 70, Ottoville, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, April 10, 1992, at her residence.
            She was born February 14, 1922, in Ft. Jennings, the daughter of Henry and Verona (Klausing) Calvelage. On September 11, 1946, she married James E. Weeden, Sr., who died May 30, 1978.
            Mrs. Weeden retired in 1985 as a job counselor for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services office in Lima. An Army Veteran of World War II, she was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Van Wert and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            Survivors include two sons, James E. Weeden, Jr., and Patrick M. Weeden, both of Delphos; one daughter, Mrs. Walt (Jill A.) Miller, Ottoville; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Feathers, Ft. Jennings, and Esther Zimmerman, Cincinnati; and three brothers, Richard Calvelage, Springfield, MO, Bernard Calvelage, Ottoville, and Dan Calvelage, Ft. Jennings.
            Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. The body was cremated.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-HelmkamppSiferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
            Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Medical Center Hospice.

Mary C. Miller
            Mary C. Miller, 90, a homemaker, died April 22, 1992, at the Delphos Memorial Home.
            Mrs. Miller was a native of Ottoville, Ohio. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3740 Auxiliary in Ottoville; the Ottoville Senior Citizens, Ottoville Alter Rosary Society. She was a Catholic.
            Survivors include her daughters, Rita Turnwald, Ottoville, Ethel Burgei, Julie Kaskel, Delores Mesker and LaDonna Schlagbaum, all of Delphos, Luella Madigan, Wapakoneta, Ohio and Irene Horner of Lima, Ohio; sons, Norbert and Virgil Miller, both of Ottoville, Ralph Miller, Kalida, Ohio, Donald “Doc” Miller, Delphos, and Arthur Miller, Ocala, Florida; 61 grandchildren and 97 great-grandchildren.

Norbert F. Bendele
            Norbert F. Bendele, 81, Grover Hill, died at 12:45 p.m. Friday, May 8, 1992, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            He was born January 25, 1911, in Ottoville, the son of Antone and Otilla (Sanders) Bendele. On June 28, 1933, he married Marcella E. Miller, who survives.
            Mr. Bendele was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Holy Name Society.
            Survivors include four sons, Alfred and Gerald, both of New Haven, IN, Carl, Pandora, and Roger, Ft. Jennings; four daughters, Mrs. Gebhard (Ruth) Gasser, Ottoville, Mrs. Charles (Geraldine) Ricker, Elida, Mrs. Aaron (Dolores) Austin, and Mrs. Eugene (Dorothy) Ricker, both of Spencerville; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Marcella) Ankenbruck, Ft. Wayne, IN, and Mrs. Albert (Alma) Warnement, Kalida; a brother, Hubert, Ottoville; 28 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Bendele, and several brothers and sisters.      
            Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiating.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

            Bernadette C. (Bernie) Pohlman, 70, Spencerville, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 1992, at her residence.
            She was born April 7, 1922, in Ottoville to Andrew D. and Clara (Krietemeyer) Wurst. She married Francis L. “Jake” Pohlman on October 27, 1943, in Ottoville, and he died July 23, 1987.
            Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John (Pat) Vonderwell, and Mrs. David (Becky) Rott, both of Delphos, Mrs. Dan (Irene) Klausing, Spencerville, and Mrs. Robert (Dianne) Kettels, Rawson; three sons, Daniel R., and Michael J., both of Spencerville, and Tom, Caneyville, KY; 22 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Roman Wurst, Defiance, and Julius Wurst, Delphos; and a sister, Mary Wannemacher, Defiance.
            She was preceded in death by a son Timothy J. “T.J.”
            Services were held Tuesday in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Revs. John Hanacsek and Roger Bonifas officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Landeck.
            Memorials may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice, to the Allen County American Cancer Society, to the Landeck St. John the Baptist maintenance fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Ethel A. Rieger
            Ethel A. Rieger, 67, Lady Lake, FL, and formerly of Ottoville, died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 1992, at Florida Hospital, Orlando, FL.
            She was born January 14, 1925, in Ottoville, the daughter of George N. and Anna K. (Wannemacher) Rieger.
            Survivors include a sister, Euletta Rieger, Ottoville; and 13 nieces and nephews.
            She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hoehn, and a brother, George Rieger.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
            Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, was in charge of srrangements.

Arthur F. Rekart
            Arthur F. Rekart, 87, Ft. Wayne, IN, died at 3:15 a.m. June 23, 1992, at his daughter’s residence in Akron, MI.
            He was born February 28, 1905, in Ottoville to William and Theresa (Morman) Rekart. He married Helen M. Christie on May 28, 1930, in Ft. Wayne. She died in 1984.
            Survivors include three sons, Arthur W., Jackson, NJ, Richard F., Newark, CA, and Joseph D., Silex, MO; one daughter, Sharon M. Bell, Akron, MI; one sister, Mildred Wanamaker, Delphos; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, Ft. Wayne. The Rev. Lawrence A. Kramer officiated. Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Wayne.
            D. O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Ft. Wayne, handled the arrangements.

Flora J. Horstman
            Flora J. Horstman, 91, Ottoville, died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 1992, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.  
            She was born January 20, 1901, in Ft. Jennings, to William J. and Mary C. (Luersman) Martin. On November 25, 1920, she married William W. Horstman, and he died on November 15, 1972.
            Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Thomas and Jane Stallkamp, Delphos; and one son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Sylvia Horstman, Ottoville; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Unverferth, Columbus Grove, and Christian Schneeg, Delphos.
            She was preceded in death by Mary Schumacher, Veronica Schumacher, Lucy Schulte, Lawrence Martin, Leo Martin, Henry Martin, and Arnold Martin; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Marie Klima.
            Mrs. Horstman was a member of the Ottoville Senior Citizens, and the Ottoville Alter Rosary Society. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. She was a retired clerk for Delphos Army Surplus Store and From D. W. G. Cigar Factory.
            A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be made in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ft. Jennings.
            Visitation is being held Wednesday at the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A parish wake service and combined Alter Rosary Society Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Zita C. Gasser
            Zita Catherine Gasser, 93, Delphos, died at 9:05 p.m. Friday, July 3, 1992, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
            She was born August 27, 1898, near Ottoville, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Keifer) Van Oss. On June 3, 1919, she married Oliver Gasser, who died in 1968.
            Mrs. Gasser was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Harriet) Metzger and Mrs. Aloysius (Catherine) Metzger, both of Delphos; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister Velma Rigdon, Delphos.
            A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial was
in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, handled the arrangements.
            Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Parish Foundation, the St. John's scholarship fund or the donors choice.

Walter J. Beining
            Walter J. Beining, 69, Lima, died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 1992, at his residence.
            He was born January 18, 1923, in Ottoville, the son of Joseph and Veronica (Koetter) Beining. On May 4, 1948, he married Marjory May Hotz, who died January 1, 1992.
            Mr. Beining was a retired electrician from the Lima Ford Engine Plant. He formerly owned Beining Motor Repair Shop in Ottoville. Mr. Beining was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church; the United Auto Workers Local 1219; and an Army Veteran of World War II, 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division.
            Survivors include four sons, David Beining, Atlanta, GA, Thomas Beining, Cridersville, James Beining, Plymouth, IN, and Steven Beining, Toledo; eight daughters, Mrs. James (Jan) Towey, Ada, Mrs. Dan (Joyce) Kile, Rochester Hills, MI, Mrs. Ray (Bonnie) Barnett, San Angelo, TX, Mrs. Michael (Lora) Grapner, Henderson, CO, and Mrs. Robert (Karen) Foley, Mrs. Jeff (Sandy) Dackin, Mrs. Scott (Donna) Campbell, and Mrs. Gary (Jill) Lewis, all of Lima; 27 grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Beining, Ottoville; and two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Ricker, Delphos, and Mrs. Lauretta Miller, Ottoville.
            He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Beining and Joseph Beining; and one sister, Jenny Becker.
            Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today) at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Sweeney officiated. Burial was in Gethsemani Cemetery. Hogenkamp-Bonham Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Frank G. Liebrecht
            Frank G. Liebrecht, 98, Delphos, and formerly of Kalida and Dayton, died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 1992, at Delphos Memorial Home.
            He was born March 20, 1894, in Ottoville, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Gergen) Liebrecht. On April 22, 1950, he married Elizabeth Herman, who died in 1981.
            Mr. Leibrecht retired from General Motors Corp. in Dayton, where he was a laborer. He was a member of St. John’s The Evangalist Catholic Church and a veteran of World War I.
            Survivors include two step-granddaughters; two sisters-in-law, Francis Liebrecht and Mary Liebrecht, both of Delphos; and several nieces and nephews.
            Services were held Friday morning, August 14, at the church and a committal service was conducted ay Calvary Cemetery Chapel, in Dayton in the afternoon. A parish wake was held Thursday, August 13 at the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Delphos. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.

Leo W. Heitmeyer
            Leo W. Heitmeyer, 74, Ft. Jennings, died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 1992, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            He was born November 25, 1917, in Ft. Jennings, the son of Fred and Catherine (Dickman) Heitmeyer. On May 17, 1947, he married Alice L. Maas, who survives.
            Mr. Heitmeyer was retired from farming and Ex-Cell-O Corporation. He was formerly employed by the Ottoville Elevator and the Delphos Cigar Factory. He was a carpenter for 14 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, its choir, credit committee, and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of St. Mary’s Credit Union and was the Jackson Township Clerk from 1960 to 1980.
            Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ken (Mary) Kelsey, Ada, Mrs. Mike (Patricia) Grothause, Delphos, and Mrs. Phil (Susan) Fuerst, Kalida; four sons, William and David, Cloverdale, Frederick, Kalida, and Richard, Toledo; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Alphonse, Kalida, and Norbert, Ft. Jennings; and two sisters, Mrs. Francis Schimmoeller, Ft. Jennings, and Mrs. Gilbert (Jean) Smith, Kalida.
            He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Arnold; and two sisters, Marie Heitmeyer and Barbara Brinkman.
            Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
            Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, handled the arrangements.

Martha A. Schimmoeller
            Martha A. Schimmoeller, 85, Cloverdale, died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 1992, at her residence.
            She was July 26, 1907, in Ottoville, to Joseph and Theresa (Miller) Turnwald. On September 10, 1929, in Ottoville, she married Edmund H. Schimmoeller, and he survives.
            Surviving also are three sons, Arthur, Eugene, and Roger, all of Ottoville; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Doris) Honigfort, Ottawa, Mrs. David (Mary Lou) Stechschulte, Columbus Grove, and Mrs. John (Ruth Ann) Lucke, Ft. Jennings; 31 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother Lawrence Turnwald, Ottoville, and one sister, Mrs. Helen Fischer, Cloverdale.
            She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Leonard Turnwald.
            Mrs. Schimmoeller was a homemaker, and a member of the Ottoville Senior Citizens and the Ottoville Alter Rosary Society. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
            Visitation is being held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville. A combined parish Wake and Alter Rosary Society Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
            Preferred memorials may be made to the Putnam County Home Health Agency, or to the Immaculate Conception Building Repair Fund.

Jayne K. Maag
            Jayne K. Maag, 68, Ottoville, died at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 1992, after an extended illness.
            She was born August 10, 1924, in Ottoville, to Harry and Amelia (Otte) Niedecken. On June 28, 1945, she married Wilfred (Bill) Maag, and he survives.          
            Also surviving are two sons, Bruce Charles, Elida, and Timmy Joseph, Ottoville; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Debra) Jacobs, Elida, Mrs. Greg (Shari) McMillen, Cridersville, and Mrs. Rick (Robin) Wurth, Kalida, and 13 grandchildren.
            One brother, Joseph (Jim) Niedecken, and one sister, Colleen Kramer, are deceased.
            She was a member of the Alter Rosary Society, co-counder of Specialized Alternatives for Youth and Co-owner of Kalida I.G.A. Store. She was a great naturalist.
            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
            Visitation is being held from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, where a parish Wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.
            Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Loretta V. Ruen
            Loretta V. Ruen, 85, Ottoville, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, September 27, 1992, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Center, Cloverdale.
            She was born December 1, 1906, in Ottoville to Henry and Mary (Eickholt) Hilvers. She married Aloysius H. Ruen on August 19, 1931, in Ottoville and he died July 10, 1961.  
            Mrs. Ruen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, its Alter Rosary Society and Ottoville Senior Citizens.
            Surviving are four sons, Frederick, Delphos, Paul, Joseph and Roger, all of Ottoville; five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Honigford, Coldwater, Mildred Ruen, Columbus, Mrs. Melvin (Catherine) Heitz, Landeck, Mrs. Byrle (Irene) Bullard, Edwardsville, IL, and Mrs. Dale (Marilyn) Calvelage, Ottoville; a sister, Mrs. Othmar (Clara) Smith, Columbus Grove; 29 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alex, Edwin and Steven Hilvers; and a sister, Regina Schweller.
            Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, handled the arrangements.

Christena M. Schneeg
            Christena M. Schneeg, 100, Ottoville, died at 9:55 a.m. Monday, September 28, 1992, at Delphos Memorial Home.
            She was born April 19, 1892, in Ottoville, the daughter of William and Mary (Luersman) Martin, on September 7, 1915, in Ft. Jennings, she married William H. Schneeg. He died July 8, 1978.
            Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Ruth) Storrer, Archbold, and Mrs. Dorothy Siebeneck, Sarasota, FL; one son, Walter L., LeHigh Acres, FL; nineteen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Unverferth, Columbus Grove.
            One son, Oscar (Buck) Schneeg, and one sister, Flora Horstman, are deceased.
            She was a lifetime member of the Ottoville Catholic Ladies of Columbia, a member of the Ottoville Alter Rosary Society, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and a farmer.
            A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Visitation is being held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville. A parish rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Lidvina E. Hilvers
            Lidvina E. Hilvers, 85, Ft. Jennings, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 1992, at Delphos Memorial Nursing Home.
            She was born September 12, 1907, in Ohio, to Clem and Matilda (Wittler) Meyer. She married Leo Hilvers on April 10, 1940, in Delphos, and he survives.
            Also surviving are one son, Gene, Ottoville; four daughters, Mrs. Norman (Stella) Buettner, Ottoville, Mrs. Arnold (LaDonna) Ruhe, Ayersville, Mrs. Othmar (Eileen) Weis, Leipsic, Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Wagner, New Bavaria; two sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Leona) Pohlman, Landeck, Lucinda Klaus, Delphos; a brother, Leonard Meyer, Spencerville; 18 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Meyer.
            Mrs. Hilvers was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings, and its Alter Rosary Society.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. Rev. John Shanahan officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Arrangements were handled by Kokmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Gladys E. King
            Gladys E. King, 87, Ottoville, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 1992, at her residence.
            She was born August 10, 1905, in Ottoville, the daughter of C. B. and Cecelia (Geier) Wannemacher. On April 9, 1929, she married Carl A. King, who died February 24, 1988.
            Mrs. King was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville.
            Survivors include a son, Carl R., Williamson, GA; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
            Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home in Ottoville.

Catherine L. Wannemacher
            Catherine Louise Wannemacher, 88, Ottoville, died at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 1992, at the Sarah Jane Geriatric Center in Delphos.
            She was born November 30, 1903, in Glandorf, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Feldman) Heckman Sr. She married J. Leander Wannemacher, who died February 26, 1968.
            Mrs. Wannemacher had taught private kindergarten in Ottoville from 1957 to 1969. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, its Alter Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia, all of Ottoville.
            Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Betty) Weber, South Palm Beach, FL, and Mrs. Clair (Jeanne) Naveau, Russia, OH; one son, James, Ottoville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Phyl Fox and Mrs. Mary Kohls, both of Glandorf.
            She was preceded in death by four brothers.
            Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, handled the funeral arrangements.
            Memorial contributions may be given for Masses, to the cemetery fund, the Ottoville Library, or to the donor’s choice.

Henrietta B. Landin
            Henrietta B. Landin, 74, Ottoville, died at 12:53 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 1992, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
            She was born February 27, 1918, in Kalida, the daughter of John T. and Anna (Fortman) Nartker. On November 26, 1936, she married Joseph S. Landin, who died April 22, 1965.
            Mrs. Landin was a former employee of Dick’s Restaurant and was past owner of Knotty Pine Restaurant in Ft. Jennings. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Alter Rosary Society, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Ottoville.
            Survivors include two sons, James and Dennis, both of Ottoville; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Diane) Ricker, Cloverdale; two brothers, Charles Nartker, Ft. Wayne, IN, and John Nartker, Ottawa; two sisters, Eleanor Jacobs, Kalida, and Lenore Heckman, Glandorf; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a close companion, Charles Broecker, Ft. Jennings.
            She was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor, Romie and Cletus Nartker; and two sisters, Mathilda Doepker and Frances Halker.
            Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
