Cletus B. Horstman

            Cletus B. “Click” Horstman, 81, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 1993, at Van Wert County Hospital.
            He was born August 9, 1911, in Putnam County, the son of Ben and Anna (Grote) Horstman. On September 29, 1937, he married Lucille Ricker, who survives in Ottoville.
            Mr. Horstman retried in 1974 as a technician for GTE in Ottawa. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, its Holy Name Society, Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3470 and Delphos Order of Eagles.
            Survivors include three sons, Ron, Adrian, MI, James, Missoula, MT, and Dennis, Minneapolis, MN; three brothers, Cyril and Ralph, both of Ottoville, and Leo, of Cloverdale; two sisters, Mary Ann Bullinger, Defiance, and Rose Marie Wannemacher, Ottoville; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
            Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Arrangements were handled by Koklmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Anthony J. Klima

            Anthony J. Klima, 74, Ottawa, died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 1993, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
            He was born July 5, 1918, in Ottoville, the son of Wenzel and Emma (Martin) Klima. On November 1, 1942, he married Fredona “Fritz” Wieging, who survives.
            The former owner of Tony’s Dairy Queen, he was the originator of the Titan Burger. Mr. Klima also operated Romies Corner and Klima’s Meat Market with his brother William, all in Ottawa. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa.
            Mr. Klima served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Ottawa Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ottawa American Legion.
            Also surviving are a son, Larry, Pandora; two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Charlotte) Ellis, Glandorf, and Mrs. Kevin R. (Joan) Kuhlman, Ottawa; two brothers, Vincent Klima, Delphos, and Leonard Klima, Ottoville; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Bertha) Spieles, Delphos, and Catherine Simmons, Lima; and eight grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, William; and a sister, Marcella Klausing.
            Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Jim Miller officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
            Arrangements were handled by McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.

Mildred R. Wannemacher
            Mildred R. Wannemacher, 69, Ottoville, died at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 1993, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
            She was born February 20, 1923, in Scotts Crossing to Isadore and Rose (Hoffman) Siefker.
            On November 22, 1956, she married Ray A. Wannemacher, in Delphos, who survives.
            Other survivors include two sons, Ralph and Bill J. Wannemacher, both of Ottoville; a daughter, Judy Wannemacher, Ottoville; four brothers, Richard Siefker, Othmar Siefker, Carl Siefker and Dennis Siefker, all of Delphos; a sister, Mrs. George (Violeta) Wienken, Landeck; and two grandchildren.
            Mrs. Wannemacher was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Alter Rosary Society.
            Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, handled the arrangements.
            Memorials are to Ottoville EMS and St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.

Leonard A. Eickholt

             Leonard A. Eickholt, 61, Ottoville, died late Monday morning, March 8, 1993, of an apparent heart attack.
            He was born August 12, 1931, in Putnam County to Gilbert and Rigina (Grothouse) Eickholt. On May 2, 1953 he married Joan Kehres, who survives.          
            Mr. Eickholt was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and of the Ottoville Holy Name Society. He was a past trustee for Monterey Township and a farmer.
            Mr. Eickholt is survived by three sons, James, Terry and Michael, all of Ottoville; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Debra) Altenburger, Delphos, and Mrs. Steven (Susan) Hermiller, Ottawa; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. George (Marilyn) Berres, Delphos.
            Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville. A parish rosary will be recited today (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The funeral will take place Thursday, March 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Repair Fund.

Harry Von Kaenel
            Harry Von Kaenel, 87, formerly of Ottoville, died at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at Maria Joseph Home, Dayton.
            He was born December 5, 1905, in Marion to John and Anna (Amann) Von Kaenel. He married Alice Burke on June 10, 1935. She died in 1978.
            Survivors include two daughters, Anne Thesing, Centerville, and Carol Von Kaenel, Milwaukee, WI; four sons, John (Jack), Lima, Dr. Robert, West Covina, CA, Harry Jr., Toledo, and David, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; two sisters, Emalen Willacher, Bucyrus, and Rosemary Seiter, New Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas B., who died in 1949; three brothers; and two sisters.
            Mr. Von Kaenel was Superintendent of Ottoville Schools from 1937 to 1963. He received his bachelor of education degrees from Ohio State University and Dayton University. He received his Masters Degree from Indiana University at Bloomington, IN.
            Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday in Maria Joseph Chapel, Dayton.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Westbrock Funeral Home, Kettering.

Pearl J. Wieging
            Pearl J. Wieging, 91, formerly of Ottoville, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1993, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            She was born April 10, 1901, in Ottoville, to Robert and Jeanette (Harpster) Martin. On November 25, 1920, she married Anthony A. Wieging, who died October 1, 1967.
            Survivors include a foster daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Ethel) Perrin, Delphos; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by a foster daughter, Rosemary Martin Sanders; three brothers; seven sisters, and a grandchild.
            Mrs. Wieging had formerly owned the Northside Inn in Ottoville, which is now the Lock 16. She also worked at the Delphos Country Club and Dick’s Restaurant in Kalida.
            She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, the Ottoville Alter Rosary Society, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 3740.
            Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
            Memorial contributions may be made to the Paradise Oaks Nursing Center Activity Fund or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Repair Fund.

Robert E. Moorman
            Robert E. Moorman, 50, Ottoville, died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 1993, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
            He was born May 18, 1942, in St. Henry. To William and Irene (Hartings) Moorman. He married Rebecca Ann Romer on June 15, 1965, in St. Henry, and she survives in Ottoville.
            Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Sue Moorman, Wixon, MI, and Pamela Sue Moorman, at home; two sons, Keith William and Neil Robert, both at home; three sisters, Ruth Willmann, Ft. Recovery, Helen Umphrey, Battleground, WA, and Marjorie Stachler, St. Henry; and four brothers, Cletus, Piketon, Thomas and Edward, both of St. Henry, and John Henry, Chicago, IL.
            A brother Gerald, preceded him in death.
            Mr. Moorman was a banker with the Ottoville Bank Co. He was a member of the Ohio Bankers Association, Community Bankers Association of Ohio, Independent State Bankers of Ohio, and Putnam County Bankers Association. He was a member of the Lions Club of Ottoville, the Ottoville Commercial Club, and the Holy Name Society, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            A funeral Mass was held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
            Preferred memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Repair Fund or to the National Cancer Institute.

Henry P. Mittelkamp
            Judge Henry P. Mittelkamp, 75, Ottoville, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 1993, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
            He was born on September 19, 1917, in Ottoville, to Herman and Anna (Schnipke) Mittelkamp. He was never married.
            Surviving are one brother, Joseph, Lima; three sisters, Clara Brinkman, Delphos, Julie Koch, Columbus Grove, and Ruth Brown, Botkins; 25 nieces and nephews and his lifelong housekeeper, Anna L. Dickman, Ottoville.
            He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucinda O’Brien.
            Judge Mittelkamp was a graduate of the Ohio Northern University Law School. He served in Putnam County as County Court Judge, County Prosecutor and he retired in 1987 after having completed 12 years as the Putnam County Common Pleas Judge. He served in World War II in the 3rd Armored Division, where he received the Purple Heart.
            He was a member of the Ottoville Holy Name Society, the Putnam County Bar Association, Northwestern Ohio Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He was a member of the Ottoville VFW Post 3740, the Ottawa American Legion, Post 63, the Kalida K. of C. Council 5669, the Lima Elks Lodge #54, and he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. John Shanahan officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville, where military graveside rites were conducted by the Ottoville VFW and the Ottawa American Legion.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
            Preferred memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or tot the donor’s choice.

Thomas J. Archdeacon
            Thomas J. Archdeacon, 79, Ottoville, died at 11:13 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 1993, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
            He was born July 3, 1913, in Lexington, KY, to Joseph and Mary (Heflin) Archdeacon. On June 11, 1946 he married Agnes Heckman, who survives in Ottoville.
            Survivors include a son, Tom, Dayton; two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Mary Beth) Lash, Kendelville, IN, Mrs. Bill (Cathy) Looser, Ottoville; a sister, Sister Angela Archdeacon, Columbus; and four grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Archdeacon.
            Mr. Archdeacon initiated the Industrial Arts Program ay Ottoville High School in 1936, where he worked until 1950. In 1950, he worked for the Hixon-Peterson Lumber Co. in Ottoville. After purchasing it in 1959, he renamed it The Ottoville Lumber Co. He was a member of the Ohio Lumberman’s Association.
            He was a graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and a 1935 graduate of Miami University. He was an official for basketball and football games for 25 years.
            He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a charter member of the Delphos Country Club and Arnold Dienstberger Foundation. He was a member of the Ottoville Commercial Club, the Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, and Ft. Jennings American Legion Post 715.
            He was past president and a member of the Ottoville School Board and a World War II Army Veteran where he served as a Captain in the 16th Armored Division.
            Mass of Christian Burial was at 1 p.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergfell officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ottoville VFW Post 3740 and the Ft. Jennings American Legion Post 715.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Edmund H. Schimmoeller
            Edmund H. Schimmoeller, 85, Cloverdale, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 2, 1993, at his residence.
            He was born September 27, 1907, in Ft. Jennings, to Albert and Philomena (Becker) Schimmoeller. On September 10, 1929, he married Martha A. Turnwald. And she died September 8, 1992.
            Survivors include three sons, Arthur, and Roger, both of Ft. Jennings, and Eugene, Cloverdale; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Doris) Honigfort, Ottawa, Mrs. David (Mary Lou) Stechschulte, Columbus Grove, and Mrs. John (Ruth) Lucke, Ft. Jennings; 31 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
            One brother, Cleo Schimmoeller, and one sister, Dorothy Verhoff, are deceased.
            Mr. Schimmoeller was a past president of the Ottoville School Board; a past president of the Ft. Jennings Telephone Co., a charter member, past president of the Ottoville Senior Citizens; a charter member of the Putnam County Council on Aging; N.F.O. Farmers Union; and the Holy Name Society. He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Joe V. Clementz
            Joe V. Clementz, 65, Kalida, died at his residence at 11:50 p.m., July 20, 1993.
            He was born August 2, 1927 in Ottoville to Andy and Bernadina (Perrin) Clementz. He married Rosemary Wehri on August 7, 1948, and she survives in Kalida.
            Also surviving are three sons, Mike and Bill, both of Kalida, and Tom, of Cloverdale; four daughters, Mrs. Dale (Ruth) Schroeder, Bowling Green, Mrs. Ron (Karen) Steffan, New Cleveland, Angela Clementz, Kalida, and Mrs. Ron (Kathy) Schmiedebusch, Glandorf; a brother, Frank, Ottoville; two sisters, Mrs. Valeria Siefker, Delphos, and Mrs. Herb (Jose) Bockrath, Cloverdale; and 17 grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and two brothers, Louis and Eugene.
            Mr. Clementz worked for 25 years at Crouse Lumber Co, in Lima, and was retired from St. Michael’s Catholic Church Maintenance Department.
            He was a member of the church, its Holy Name Society and men’s choir, and was an adult Mass server. He also belonged to the Kalida Knights of Columbus.
            A funeral Mass was said at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida. Rev. Henry Langhals officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by McCrate-Love Funeral Homes, Ottawa.

Loretta M. Martz
            Loretta M. Martz, 83, Ottoville, died at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1993, at Van Wert County Hospital.
            She was born December 19, 1909, in Ottoville, to Gerhard and Mary (Heitmeyer) Brinkman. On May 6, 1944, she married Cornell O. Martz, and he died December 18, 1973.
            Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Ann) Roberts, Trenton, NJ, and Mrs. Don (Betty) Schrauf, Norwalk; two sons, Robert, St. Louis, and Richard, Ft. Jennings; and six grandchildren.
            Mrs. Martz was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Alter Rosary Society, she was a cook for Ottoville Local Schools for ten years.
            Friends may call from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (today) and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville. A parish Wake service combined with an Alter Rosary Society service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.
            Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate.
            Burial will be made in the church cemetery.

Michael C. Koester
            Michael C. Koester, 9, Ottoville, died Monday, August 9, 1993, at 1:15 p.m. at his residence.
            He was born October 8, 1993, in Lima, to Dennis C. and Patricia A. (Fuerst) Koester, who survive in Ottoville.
            Also surviving are one brother, Andrew Koester; and two sisters, Sarah and Diana Koester, all at home; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Dorothy Fuerst, Lima; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Catherine Koester, Ottoville.
            Michael was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He would have been a fourth grade student at Ottoville Grade School.
            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Mass will be celebrated by Revs. Roger Bonifas and Kent Kaufman. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home in Ottoville where a parish rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Hubert M. Hemker
            Hubert M. “Bud” Hemker, 72, Ottoville, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday August 10, 1993, at his residence.
            He was born March 13, 1921, in Delphos, to Aloysius L. and Rose (Schmelzer) Hemker. On August 19, 1944, he married Julie Hoersten in Ottoville and she survives.
            Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Ginni) Sroufe, Cloverdale; four sons, Ron and Dick, Ottoville, Gary, Delphos, and Randy, Louisville, KY; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Elmer Hemker, Coldwater, MI, and Bill Hemker, Delphos.
            He was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgianna Coke and Alice Hemker; and one brother, James Hemker.
            Mr. Hemker was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Holy Name Society and an usher in the church.
            He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1362, Delphos, and a retired farmer and retired mechanical technician from Metzger Bros.
            A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Roger Bonifas officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

John A. Kemper
            John A. Kemper, 56, Ottoville, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, August 15, 1993, at his residence.
            He was born August 28, 1934 in Ottoville to Herman and Theresia (Ricker) Kemper. He married Ruth Ann Schroeder on July 8, 1959 and she survives in Ottoville.
            Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Annette) Hanf, Schweinfurt, Germany, Mrs. Leo (Joan) Ellerbrock, Leipsic, and Mrs. Ted (Christine) Ralston, Lima; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Alex (Frances) Muzechuck, and Mrs. Amelia Burdg, both of Dayton, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Lammers, New Cleveland, Mrs. James (Theresa) Kramer, Ottoville, and Mrs. Donald (Agnes) Ostendorf, Ft. Jennings; three brothers, Isadore, Arnold, and his twin brother Joseph, all of Ottoville.
            He was preceded in death by one sister, Bert Gasser; and four brothers, Lawrene, Henry, Leo and Alphonse Kemper.
            Mr. Kemper was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and a social member of the Ottoville VFW. He was an employee of Philips Display Components Company in Ottawa for 35 years.
            A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Roger Bonifas will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Friends may call Wednesday all day at the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville, where a parish wake will be held today (Wednesday) at 8 p.m.

Hubert J. Wannemacher
            Hubert J. “Hups” Wannemacher, 78, Ottoville, died at 12:20 p.m. August 18, 1993, at his home.
            He was born March 13, 1915, in Ottoville, to Henry and Nora (Grothaus) Wannemacher. On August 4, 1937, he married Armella Knippen, who survives.
            Survivors include in son, Jerry (Whitey) Wannemacher, Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Darla) Rahrig, Delphos; three bothers, Lavern, Ottoville, Harold, South Gate, MI, and Orville, Delphos; three sisters, Mrs. Russ (Alene) Gimmell, Lewiston, MI, Mrs. Doyle (Marciel) Fought, Delphos, and Mrs. Paul (Louelin) Cook, Lima.
            He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Wannemacher.
            Mr. Wannemacher was a retired carpenter, a farmer and a member of the Kalida Knights Columbus and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.         
            Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Roger Bonifas officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Sifer Funeral Home, Ottoville.
            Preferred memorials may be made to the Lou Gehrig’s Disease Foundation, the Visiting Nurses Association, or the Ottoville Parish Hall Elevator Fund.

Robert L. Martz
            Robert Lee Martz, 45, St. Louis, MO, and a former Ottoville resident, died Saturday, August 21, 1993, following an extended illness.
            He was born October 2, 1947, in Lima, to Cornell and Loretta (Brinkman) Martz, and they are both deceased. In June 1974, he married Dianne Chill, who survives.
            Survivors include a son, Kevin; two sisters, Ann Roberts, Trenton, MI, and Betty Schranf, Norwalk, and a brother, Richard Martz, Ottoville.
            He was preceded in death by a brother James.
Mr. Martz was a graduate of Ottoville HS. He retired after 24 years with Southwestern Bell in St. Louis, MO.

Odelia C. Bensman
            Odelia C. Bensman, 96, Cloverdale, died at 11:25 p.m. Monday, August 23, 1993, ay Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            She was born February 15, 1897, in Ottoville, to Joseph J. and Wilhelmina (Lehmkuhl) Miller, she married Henry J. Bensman on June 2, 1915, and he died May 2, 1958.
            Surviving are five daughters, Hildegard Bensman, Delphos, Gertrude Deabler, Kenton, Mrs. John (Geraldine) Houck, Holgate, Mrs. Mac (Agnes) Shadle, Ft. Wayne, IN, and Bernadine Houck, Continental; a son, Herbert, Woodstock; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jerome Miller, Findlay, Edwin Miller, Defiance, and Benno Miller, Delphos; and two sisters, Marcella Bendele, Ottoville, and Sister Leonissa Miller, Dayton.
            She was preceded in death by a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo and Cyril Miller; an two sisters, Sister Pius Miller an Edwina Byrne.
            Mrs. Bensman was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, CLC Council No. 213 and Alter Rosary Society, all in Continental.
            Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Snyder Funeral Home, Continental, where a Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
            A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, Cloverdale. Rev. Herman Fortman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Amelia M. Kehres
            Amelia Mary Kehres, 87, Cloverdale, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, August 27, 1993, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Center, Cloverdale.
            She was born March 25, 1906, in Ottoville, to John and Anna (Helmkamp) Kehres.
            She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sr. Victoria Kehres, Anna Rekart, and Hilda Kehres.
            Miss Kehres was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Ambrose E. Gmeiner
            Ambrose E. Gmeiner, 87, Ottawa, died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, September 10, 1993, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
            He was born June 7, 1906 in Ottoville, to Leonard and Mary (Muller) Gmeiner. He married Cecelia R. Ficchi on May 7, 1929, and she survives.
            Also surviving are a son, Leonard, Reisterstown, MD; three daughters, Sister Therese Mary Gmeiner, I.H.M., Primose, PA, Mrs. Hugh (Rita) Algeo. West Chester, PA, and Mrs. Raymond (Philomena) Kistler, Ottawa; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph; and five sisters, Freda Gmeiner, Alma Holtgreven, Ida Ehlen, Amelia Reynolds, and Sr. Amelda Gmeinerm CDP.
            Mr. Gemeiner retired in 1958 after 29 years with the Philadelphia Police Department where he was a Lieutenant. He was a former Provident Life Insurance agent. He was a former owner/operator of Gmeiner Shoe Store in Ottawa. He was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Ottawa. He was a Marine Corps. Veteran.
            A funeral Mass was said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Revs. Ken Eckstein and Leonard Kistler officiated. Burial was made in the Church cemetery.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.
            Memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School Education Foundation.

Ambrose D. Ricker
            Ambrose D. Ricker, 73, Ottoville, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 1993, at Ft. Wayne Veteran’s Hospital.
            He was born September 25, 1919, in Putnam County, to Joseph and Elinor (Miller) Ricker. On November 14, 1945, he married Loretta M. Pohlman, who survives.
            Survivors include four sons, Dennis O., Steven D., Marvin J., all of Ottoville, and Dan J., Van Wert; two brothers, George Ricker, Ottoville, and Omer Ricker, Ft. Jennings; and four sisters, Mrs. Irvin (Adeline) Pohlman, and Mrs. Robert (Jeannette) Brickner, both of Delphos, Mrs. Virgil (Marciel) Bellman, Ottawa, and Mrs. James (Margaret) Schimmoeller, Ft. Jennings; and nine grandchildren.
            Mr. Ricker was a farmer and a maintenance man for Monterey Township, Putnam County, for 13 years.
            He was a member of the Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II having served in Germany and was a prisoner of war.
            Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergfell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
            Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Elevator Fund or to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.

Elizabeth R. Miller
            Elizabeth R. Miller, 83, Ottoville, died at 3:23 p.m. Monday, October 4, 1993, at Delphos Memorial Home, Delphos.
            She was born June 23, 1910, in Ottoville, to Christian and Elizabeth (Hilvers) Koester. On June 13, 1934, she married Roman Miller. He died in 1954.
            Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Norbert (Dorothy) Grothause, Delphos; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
            Preceding her in death were five brothers, Henry Anthony, Chris, Ben and William Koester.
            She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            Mass of Christian Burial was at 12 noon on Wednesday (today) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Victor G. Honigford
            Victor G. Honigford, 61, Ottoville, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 29, 1993, at his residence.
            He was born August 14, 1932, in Putnam County, to John and Theresa (Weber) Honigford. On January 23, 1954, he married Doris Ann Smith, who survives.
            Survivors include four sons, Gene, Machesney Park, IL, Ron, Ottawa, and Bill and Brian, both at home; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Deborah) Eickholt, Lima, Mrs. Brent (Diane) Fackler, Kenton, and Darlene Honigford, Columbus; three brothers, Alfred, Ottoville, Roger, Leipsic, and Walter (Butch), Delphos; two sisters, Hank (Rosalie) Wegesin, Delphos, and Mrs. Anna Marie Kahle, Glandorf; and 14 grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by two daughters, Denise and Mary Honigford; a son Joseph; and two brothers, Oswald and Urban (Bud) Honigford.
            Mr. Honigford was an employee of stock follow-up at Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant, and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, the Holy Name Society, St. Mary's Credit Union and United Auto Workers Local 1219 and he was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.   
            Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral Arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church building repair fund, or to the American Cancer Society.

Grace K. Koester
            Grace Katherine Koester, daughter of Larry and Belinda (Johnston) Koester who survive in Oswego, IL, was stillborn Friday, October 15, 1993 at 4:45 p.m.
            Other survivors include one brother, Nikoloaus and a sister, Abigail, at home in Oswego; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen Koester, Ottoville; maternal grandparents, William and Dorothy Johnston, Toledo; also many aunts and uncles.
            Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Arrangements are being handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Leo E. Heck
Leo E. Heck, 80, Ottoville, died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 1993, at his home in rural Ottoville.
            He was born February 10, 1913, in Paulding County, to Edward and Alice (Perl) Heck. On June 9, 1942, he married Margaret L. Rekart, who died July 19, 1961.
            Mr. Heck was a retired farmer and a retired employee of Georgia Pacific in Ottawa. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville and a member of the Ottoville Holy Name Society.
            Survivors include two sons, James, Lima, and Kevin, Bedford, TX; three daughters, Mary Beth Jutte, Clayton, Suzanne Phelps, Carrolton, TX, and Jean Jackson, McClean, VA, Hicksville; a special friend, Olive Baldwin, Grover Hill; and six grandchildren.
            Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            Funeral arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Siferd Funeral Home, Ottoville.
