Melvin A. Becker
Melvin A. Becker, 85, died at 9:40 a.m. Jan. 5, 2006, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Ottoville to Frank C. and Anna Schlatman Becker, who preceded him in death. In 1953, he married Genevieve Beining, who preceded him in death. In 1956, he married Beverly Hoehn, who died in 1989. In 1990, he married Dorothy “Jean” Sands Homer, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Becker was a member Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta, and Aerie 370, Lima. He enjoyed dancing, horse races, gardening and watching football, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors also include five children with his wife Beverly: Frank C. (Cindy) Becker of Ottoville, Jill M. (Marvin) Lucas of Delphos, Wayne A. Becker of Statesboro, Ga., Roger L. Becker of Columbus and Jason W. (Carrie) Becker of New Knoxville; six grandchildren, Amy Lucas, Tiffany Lucas, Jared Becker, Renee Becker, Laura Becker and Owen Becker; and a sister, Bernadine Utrup of Glandorf.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Shumaker.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Ottoville, where a parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. today.

Louis J. Daeger
Louis J. Daeger, 81, died at 9:07 a.m. Jan. 10, 2006, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
           He was born May 25, 1924, in Paulding to Peter and Viola Strabele Daeger, who preceded him in death. On April 22, 1950, he married Betty Hoersten, who survives in Grover Hill.
            Mr. Daeger was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of I m m a c u l a t e Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
             Survivors also include three children, Deborah (David) Wenninger of Haviland, David (Sheri) Daeger of Van Wert and Doug (Jean) Daeger of Fort Wayne, Ind.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Daeger of Hamilton, Ind.; and two sisters, Madeline Scarbrough of Huntington, Ind., and Rosemary (Bob) Scarbrough of Grover Hill.
            He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Daeger.
            Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. Joseph Pryszbyz will officiate.

Regina L. Byrne
Regina “Ginny” L. Byrne, 80, of Celina, formerly of Delphos, died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at Coldwater Community Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1925, in Ottoville, to Bernard and Bernadine (Brinkman) Rayman. On Aug. 11, 1945, she married Thomas T. Byrne, who survives in Celina.
Other survivors include two children, Dianna (Mike) Ireton of Celina and F. Joseph “Joe” (Tracey) Byrne of Brockway, Penn.; three sisters, Alma Gerker of Fort Jennings, Mildred “Mutzie” Brinkman of Delphos and Doris Ann “Dorty” (Art) Rellinger of Ottoville; four grandchildren, Emily (Tony) Chu, Sarah Ireton, Daniel Ireton and Sean Ireton; and two great-granddaughters, Finnegan and Madeline Chu.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Joseph Byrne; two brothers, Ed and Aloysius “Bud” Rayman; four sisters, LaDonna Gerlock, Agnes Luebrecht, Agatha Metz and Margaret Blymer; and a grandson, Stephan James Byrne.
Mrs. Byrne was a hairdresser for 35 years. She owned and operated Ginny’s Beauty and Style Shop and Mr. Byrne’s Wig Center in Delphos; Modern Miss in Van Wert; Dianna’s in Ottoville; and Cameo in Defiance. She was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and current member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, where a parish wake will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Bernadine C. Utrup
Bernadine C. Utrup, 92, died at 6:55 a.m. Feb. 2, 2006, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
She was born June 1, 1913, in Ottoville to Frank C. and Anna Slattman Becker, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 20, 1937, she married Rudolph H. “Rudy” Utrup, who died Jan. 18, 1988.
Mrs. Utrup was a homemaker and farme’s wife, who was always helping with work on the farm. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and its Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She especially enjoyed her family. She worked and cared for her yard and flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Richard M. “Dick” Utrup of Vaughnsville and Dale N. (Donna) Utrup of Ottawa; a daughter, June M. Utrup of Columbus Grove; a brother-in-law, Jim Elliot of Michigan; four sisters-in-law, Gertrude Geckle of Lima, Catherine Nartker of Cuba, Ohio, Viola “Babe” Miller of Ottoville and Dorothy Becker of Delphos; four grandchildren, David (Jill) Utrup of Vaughnsville and Lora (Brian) Romes, Staci (Brendon) Hovest and Matthew Utrup, all of Ottawa; five great-grandchildren and another on the way; four step-great-grandchildren; and close friends and neighbors, Jeff and Kristi Pingle.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Shumaker; and brother, Melvin Becker.

Norma R. Woke
Norma R. Woke, 75, died at 6:45 a.m. Feb. 2, 2006, at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1930, in Ottoville to Joseph and Regina Kemper Hoehn, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Richard Wolke, who survives in Ottawa.
Mrs. Wolke retired as a secretary from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1654, after more than 30 years. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors also include two sons, Dennis Wolke of Glandorf and Alan Wolke of Ottawa; three daughters, Sharon (Gerald) Bugbee of Millbury and Joyce (Jeff) Loehrke and Sandy (Anthony) Brinkman, both of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph (Alice) Hoehn of Delphos, Jerry (Shirley) Hoehn of Ottoville and Joe (Erlene) Hoehn of Cleveland; and two sisters, Wilma Sunderhaus of Ottawa and Genevieve Maag of Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Orville, Gene, Richard, Thomas and Victor Hoehn; and two sisters, Mary Mack and Mildred Wieging.

Clifford Brickner
Clifford Brickner, 70, died at 10:06 a.m. Feb. 6, 2006, at his residence.
He was born July 26, 1935, Ottoville to John and Philomena Warnecke Brickner, who preceded him in death. He married Mary Carder, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Brickner had worked in maintenance at R.G. Dunn, Lima. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, both in Delphos. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
Survivors also include a son, Clifford Brickner Jr. of Delphos; four sisters, Catherine Brickner of Dayton and Caroline Schimmoeller, Lauretta Schaffer and Rosy Wenzlick, all of Ottoville; four brothers, Walter Brickner of Ottoville, Steve Brickner of Columbus Grove, John Brickner of Warsaw, Ind., and Ralph Brickner of Ottoville; three grandchildren, Damion Brickner, Christina Gassner and Justin Brickner; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Ricker.

Doris A. Rellinger
Doris Rellinger, 72, died at 6:08 a.m. Feb. 9, 2006, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born May 20, 1933, in Ottoville to Bernard and Bernadine Brinkman Rayman, who preceded her in death. On June 21, 1952, she married Arthur J. Rellinger, who survives in Ottoville.
Mrs. Rellinger was a homemaker and co-owner of the Ottoville Farm Center and the Clearwater Motel, Devil’s Lake, Mich. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, where she had served as president of the parish council, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a charter member of the CCL. She was a 1951 graduate of Ottoville High School. She was an avid shopper, enjoyed crafts and crocheting. She loved living by the water. She loved to read to learn and was very much involved with her family.
Survivors also include three sons, David A. (Kathy) Rellinger of Ottoville, Howard J. (Jodi) Rellinger of Kalida and Douglas P. (Sharon) Rellinger of Ottoville; four daughters, Karla (Stan) Sanderson of Eaton, Marlene (Dale) Chapin of Madison, Va., and Tina (Joe) Koester and Toni Jill (Tim) Rieger, both of Ottoville; two sisters, Alma Gerker and Mildred “Mutzie” Brinkman; and 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Aloysius “Bud” Rayman; and five sisters, LaDonna Gerlock, Agnes Luebrecht, Agatha Metz, Margaret Blymeyer and Ginny Byrne.

Louella E. Maenle
Louella E. Maenle, 84, of Kalida, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home in Cloverdale.
She was born March 25, 1921, in Ottoville, to Joseph and Gertrude (Unverferth) Dickman. On Oct. 23, 1940, she married Raymond Maenle, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Robert (Carole) Maenle of Elida, Richard (Janet) Maenle of Bluffton, Kenneth (Karan) Maenle of Fort Jennings and James (Kathy) Maenle of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters Joyce (Robert) Klausing of Kalida, Alice (Dan) Swick of Fort Jennings and Betty (Kenneth) Kleman of Glandorf; sister Lucinda Horstman of Cloverdale; 30 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by daughter Mary Maenle; brothers Urban and Edwin Dickman; sisters Donelda Horstman, LaDonna Bendele and Julie Ann Dickman and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Maenle was a homemaker who held memberships with St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kalida, its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a member of the Jackson Township Board of Elections and the Ottawa Eagle&’s Auxiliary. She was involved with Right To Life garage sales, played bingo and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, the Rev. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Gary “Pop” Hammons
Gary “Pop” Hammons, 56, formerly of Delphos, died at 2:10 a.m. Feb. 22, 2006, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1949, in Lima to John and Marcine Dickman Hammons Jr. His father survives in Delphos. His mother died in June 1999. On May 16, 2003, he married Linda Schrader-Mc-Clure, who survives in Ottoville.
Mr. Hammons worked at Fruehauf for 34 years and at Eaton Corp., Van Wert, for two years. He was a 1967 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1970 to 1972. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors also include a stepdaughter, Cassie McClure of Defiance; a step-granddaughter, Ariella Blayer of Cincinnati; and two children from a previous marriage.
Services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. Father Charles Obinwa will officiate.

Arthur J. Rellinger
Arthur J. Rellinger, 74, died at 5:20 a.m. March 2, 2006, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Ottoville to August and Pauline Flatz Rellinger, who preceded him in death. On June 21, 1952, he married Doris A. Rayman who died Feb. 9, 2006.
Mr. Rellinger was a self-employed farmer and co-owner of the Ottoville Farm Center and the Clearwater Resort Motel in Devil’s Lake, Mich. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, David A. (Kathy) Rellinger and Douglas P. (Sharon) Rellinger both of Ottoville, and Howard J. (Jodi) Rellinger of Kalida; four daughters, Karla (Stan) Sanderson of Eaton, Marlene (Dale) Chapin of Madison, Wis., Tina (Joe) Koester and Toni Jill (Tim) Rieger, both of Ottoville; two brothers, Oscar Rellinger of Fremont and Paul Rellinger of Cloverdale; two sisters, Lucinda (Russell) Donaldson of Fort Jennings and Isabelle (Donald) Markward of Delphos; and 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Metzger, Imelda Stechschulte and Adelaide Smith, and three bothers, John, Karl and Ferdinand Rellinger.

Jim Horstman
Jim Horstman, 66, of Missoula, died of cancer on Thursday, March 2, 2006, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Ottoville, Ohio, on July 29, 1939, to Cletus and Lucille Horstman.
After growing up there and graduating from Ottoville High School in 1957, Jim enlisted in the Air Force where he met and married Kendra Shane; they moved to Montana and together had five children.
Jim's quick mind and love of people made for a successful career in sales and management with Bonanza 88 and Eastman Kodak. In his retirement years, he enjoyed his role as "Bus Driver Jim" for Beach Transportation and often came home with a story or two about "my kids."
He married Pearl Hill in 1981 and adopted a second family. Together, they enjoyed the great outdoors and mountains of Montana. The family cabin at Fish Creek was the hub for horse pack trips, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and the gathering of many friends.
Jim loved sports, especially Grizzly football - but his passion was golf and his proudest moment on the links was a hole in one on Aug. 3, 2004, at the Hamilton Golf Course.
He was preceded in death by his father Cletus Horstman.
Survivors include his wife Pearl of Missoula; his mother Lucille Horstman of Tennessee; two brothers, Ronald (Marilyn) of Tennessee and Dennis (Nancy) of North Carolina; his five children, Cheri of Missoula, Tim (Ellen) of San Jose, Calif., Mike of Missoula, Brenda Wilson (David) of Minnesota and Charlie of Minnesota; three stepchildren, David Hill (Kara), Marcia Olsen (Randy) and Mike Hill (Heather), all of Missoula; nine grandchildren, Danielle, Kayla, Michelle, Dianne, Caleb, Michael, Jalen, Levi and Hailey; one great-grandchild, Cheyanne, and one on the way.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 7405 Mullan Road. A reception will follow.
The family suggests memorials to the Missoula County Cancer Association, which supports local cancer patients.

Hubert “Hups” S. Altenburger
Hubert “Hups” S. Altenburger, 88, died at 10 a.m. March 25, 2006, at Van Crest Health Care, Delphos.
He was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Ottoville to Andrew A. and Matilda Schmitt Altenburger, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 16, 1946, he married Dorothy Schlagbaum Altenburger, who survives in Ottoville.
Mr. Altenburger served on Ottoville Village Council, was an active golfer, loved to play cards and work with wood. He was an avid Big Green fan. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, Holy Name Society, YMCA Van Wert, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740. He is a graduate of Ottoville High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a master sergeant.
Survivors also include three sons, Jack (Barb) Altenburger of Toledo, Randy (Judy) Altenburger of Ottoville and Dennis (Debra) Altenburger of Delphos; three sisters, Louise “Sis” Alt of Ottoville, Dolores “Dolly” Friemoth of Fort Jennings and Irene (William) Stechschulte of Kalida; four brothers, Jerome “Whitey” (Velma) Altenburger, Wilbur “Bill” (Sally) Altenburger Sr., Paul “Ducker” (Betty) Altenburger and Donald “Tiner” (Bettie) Altenburger, all of Ottoville; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Alt of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Brian Altenburger, Julie Kolly, Jill Wenzlick, Renee Burgei, Beth Altenburger, Jason Altenburger, Jena Altenburger and Jonathon Altenburger; and four great*grandchildren, Emma Wenzlick, Andrew Kolly, Hannah Wenzlick and Marissa Kolly.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold “Tack” Altenburger and Peter Schmitt.

John S. Eickholt, 57, of Cloverdale, died at 4:40 p.m. Monday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born July 10, 1948, in Lima, to Roman (Margaret) Eickholt, Sr. of Cridersville and the late Agnes Schwaiger. He was married to Kathy (Donovan) Eickholt, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include son Chad Eickholt (Tara) Eickholt of Cloverdale; a daughter, Dawn (Stan II) Mansfield of Cloverdale; four sisters, Mary (Ken) Doseck of Payne, Bonnie (Bill) Beining of Cloverdale, Lisa (Albert) Bilimek of Cloverdale and Leah (Dan) Ditto of Cloverdale; four brothers, Roman (Pat) Eickholt, Jr. of Continental, Robert (Donna) Eickholt and Terry (Stacy) Eickholt of Cloverdale and Alan (Marty) Eickholt of Holgate; a stepson, Shawn Blanchard; and grandchildren Jonah and Preston Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Eickholt; and a granddaughter, Camryn Mansfield.Mr. Eickholt was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from General Motors and held membership with the VFW Post 3740 in Ottoville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.

Alma M. Gerker, 92, died at 1:45 a.m. April 1, 2006, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
She was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Ottoville, to Bernard and Bernadine Brinkman Rayman, who preceded her in death. On May 22, 1935, she married Wilfred Gerker, who died Dec. 20, 1989.
Mrs. Gerker was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
Survivors include a son-in-law, Gregory Inkrott of Fort Jennings, a daughter-in-law, Jane Gerker of Florida; nine grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Inkrott, Ron (Christy) Inkrott, Cheryl (Bill) Maziers, Anthony (Vicky) Inkrott, Dennis (Cindy) Inkrott, Karen (Dave) Young, Linda (Derrick) Fox, Tim Gerker, and Bill (Laurie) Gerker; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred “Mutz” Brinkman of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Inkrott, a son, Thomas Gerker; two brothers, Ed Rayman and Aloysius “Bud” Rayman; six sisters, Ladonna Gerlock, Agnes Luebrecht, Agatha Metz, Margaret Blymeyer, Ginny Byrne and Doris Rellinger.

John J. Hoehn, 91, died at 8:45 p.m. April 13, 2006, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
He was born April 12, 1915, in Ottoville, to Andrew and Rose Weber Hoehn, who preceded him in death. He married Alberta Mueller, who died in 1975.
Mr. Hoehn was a farmer and had worked at the D e l p h o s Bending Co. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed woodworking, listening to books on tape and the Cincinnati Reds.
Survivors include two sons, Jerome (Toni) Hoehn of Fort Jennings and Arthur (Kathy) Hoehn of Ottoville; a daughter, Alice (Glen) Lewis of Lima; two sisters, Ann Bonifas of Ottoville and Hilda Memker of Dayton; a brother, Walter (Betty) Hoehn of Lima; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Hoehn; and a brother, Lawrence Hoehn.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740 and American Legion Post 715.

Lawrence W. Miller
            Lawrence W. Miller, 87, died at 10:40 p.m. April 29, 2006, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa.
He was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Van Wert to William and Christina Fischer Miller, who preceded him in death. On June 7, 1947, he married Helen Metzger, who survives in Continental.
Mr. Miller retired after 39 years at Ford Motor Co. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottawa. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union Local 1219, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Delphos, and American Legion Post 541 in Continental.
Survivors include three sons, Ralph Miller of Bluffton, Kevin Miller of Continental and William Miller of Lima; a daughter, Janice Okuley of Continental; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elaine Miller; a son-in-law, Reginald Okuley; a brother, Herbert Miller; and two sisters, Evelyn Weber and Alma Philo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. John Seitz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by the Ottoville VFW.

Helen K. Lause
           Helen K. Lause, 89, a 28-year resident of St. Clair Shores, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, in St. John Hospital, Detroit. She was born March 27, 1917, in Ottoville, Ohio.
Mrs. Lause retired from men's clothing sales at Sears at Macomb Mall, Roseville. She was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church, St. Clair Shores.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Beverly) Lause of Dearborn Heights, Wayne Lause of Roseville and Sharon Lause of Lake Orion; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Paul (Patricia) Ostendorf and Bud (Bernice) Ostendorf, both of Ohio, and Eleanor Pockey of Roseville.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Lause; and son, Dale Lause.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, St. Clair Shores. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Visitation is 2:30-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Ave., Roseville. Additional visitation is 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Raymond A. “Butch” Honigfort
Raymond A. Honigfort, 82, died at 2:55 a.m. May 21, 2006, at Shawnee Manor.
He was born June 28, 1923, in Cloverdale to William and Margaret Tenwalde Honigfort, who preceded him in death. On April 7, 1948, he married Theresa Miller, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Honigfort was retired from the Tilton Corp., Lima after 22 years of service. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, American Legion Post 63 in Ottawa, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 in Lima, the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters union Local 776, Lima. He loved to fish, garden and mow the lawn. He was a veteran of the Army and served during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Louis (Betty) Honigfort of Bowling Green; four sisters, Mary Ann McElwain of Kalida, Louise Ellerbrock of Ottoville, Margaret Rosenbauer of Ottoville and Ruth Hermiller of Kalida; two brothers Henry (Doris) Honigfort of Ottawa and Bob (Helen) Honigfort of Glandorf; and a granddaughter, Holly (John) Hubsky of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Cletus Honigfort.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima. Father Dave Richie will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion.

Robert F. Urton Sr.
            Robert F. Urton Sr., 68, died at 3:30 a.m. May 30, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Van Wert to Veneldia K. Urton, who preceded him in death. His wife of 34 years, Jacqueline Spencer Staib Urton, survives in Ottoville.
Mr. Urton retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Mary’s, after 11 years and had worked for Coca Cola in Defiance and Fort Wayne, Ind., for 17 years. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He had attended Van Wert High School, Van Wert. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping and reading war history novels. He was an avid Notre Dame fan for more than 60 years, with his last words being, “I loved you all, and go Irish!”
Survivors also include two sons, Robert F. (Linda) Urton Jr. of Defiance and Peter D. (Amy) Urton of Goose Creek, S.C.; four daughters, Veneldia (Duane) Hummel of Bryan, Shawn Staib (Dave) Roney of Ottoville, Marty (Alan) Eickholt of Ayersville and Toshiko Ishihara (Steve) Miller of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Chad L. Staib.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. Dr. Gary Beatty will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by American Legion Post 715 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740.

            Leo Deitering Jr., of Baltimore, Md., died June 2.
He was born June 3, 1943, in Ottoville, to the late Leo Sr. and Rosa Deitering.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of Baltimore; seven children; brothers Elmer, Tom, John and Dan; sister Mary Lee Laudick, 18 grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers Roger, Herman and Bill Deitering.

Brenda J. Altenburger
            Brenda J. Altenburger, 54, of Ottoville, died at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday July 5, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born April 5, 1952, in Lima, to Jerome and Velma (Martin) Altenburger, who survive in Ottoville.
Other survivors include a son, Kyle (Julie Benjamin) Altenburger of Ottoville; a sister, Judy (Mike) Heitmeyer of Ottoville; two brothers, Gary Altenburger of Thailand and Bruce (Sylvia) Altenburger of Delphos; and two grandchildren, Claudia Altenburger and Justyce Van Meter.
Ms. Altenburger worked at Phillips in Ottawa for more than 20 years and then worked at the VFW in Ottoville and Pat’s Donuts and Creme in Lima. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary in Ottoville and the Fort Jennings American Legion Auxiliary. She loved being with her grandchildren.

Ruth M. Pangle
Ruth M. Pangle, 83, died at 6 p.m. July 14, 2006, at Van Crest Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Ottoville to Leo and Regina Gergen Hoehn, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 13, 1943, she married Ray F. Pangle Sr., who died Dec. 27, 1967.  
Mrs. Pangle was a homemaker and worked at Pangle’s Master Market. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 54, and volunteered at the Service Mans Canteen.
Survivors include a son, Ray F. “Skip” (Sandy A.) Pangle Jr. of Lima; a daughter, Shirley (David L.) Kriegel of Lima; five brothers, Bud (Jean) Hoehn, Norb (Twylah) Hoehn, Jerry (Ann) Hoehn, Butch (Mary) Hoehn and Ken (Jenny) Hoehn, all of Lima; two sisters, Marianne Hoehn and Marge (Richard) Dardio of Lima; five grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Hudnall, Todd (Kelly) Kriegel, Ray F. “Chip” Pangle III, Matthew (Angie) Kriegel, and Jon Kriegel; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dolly Ibbitison.

            John S. Looser, 77, of Middle Point, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Ottoville, to Stephen John and Adeline (Miehls) Looser.
On March 7, 1952, he married Ann Hurry, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, John (Mary) Looser of Grover Hill and Kerry (Mandy) Looser of Middle Point; a daughter, Lisa (Andrew) Colgan of Middle Point; three sisters, Virginia Hoffman of Columbus Grove, Joanne Nichols of Fort Jennings and Marjorie Dunlap of Ottoville; and five grandchildren, Britney, Alena, Carsyn and Megan Looser and Amanda (Nick) Riley Ricker; and a great-granddaughter, Trenton Ricker.
He was preceded in death by three children, Mary Jo, Michelle and Nan; a sister, Elinor Swint; and a brother, George Looser.
Mr. Looser retired after more than 16 years of employment from Kennedy Kit Manufacturing Company in Van Wert. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville and an Ottoville graduate. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Rev. Joe Przybysz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville, with military graveside rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.

Charles Landwehr Jr.
Charles J. Landwehr Jr., 73, of Fort Jennings, died at 10:55 p.m. Friday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Ottoville, to Charles and Frances (Trenkamp) Landwehr.
On Nov. 27, 1954, he married Mary Jane Warnecke, who survives in Fort Jennings.
Other survivors include two sons, Ron (Barb) Landwehr of Fort Jennings and Tony (Verna) Landwehr of Van Wert; three daughters, Janice (Dan) Wilhelm of New Bavaria, Joyce (Bob) Brubaker of Hamler and Sharon Barnhart of Cloverdale; four brothers, Joseph Landwehr of Ottawa, Alfred Landwehr of Kalida, Paul (Pat) Landwehr of Defiance and Elmer (Jane) Landwehr of Cloverdale; three sisters, Jo Ann (Herk) Menke of Fort Jennings, Rita (John) Martin of Delphos and Irene (Bill) Warnecke of Fort Jennings; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; a sister Mary Maag; and brothers James and Ed. Mr. Landwehr retired from Ford Motor Company in 1988 and had been a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran who held membership with Ford Retirees, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Jennings, the Eagles Lodge in Delphos and United Auto Workers. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

           Marcella “Sally” Fisher, 81, of Springhill, Fla., formerly of Ottoville, died Oct. 1, 2006, at Hernando Pasco Hospice, Brooksville, Fla.
           She was born June 7, 1925, in Ottoville to August and Anna R u e n T r e n k a m p , who preceded her in death. On Aug. 2, 1947, she married Norman J. Fisher, who survives in Springhill, Fla.
           Mrs. Fisher had been a beautician. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Springhill, Fla. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Ottoville.
           Survivors include a brother, August Trenkamp of Fort Jennings.
           She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ambrose, Walter, Henry, Arnold, Joseph, John and James Trenkamp; and four sisters, Frances Landwehr, Sister Alma Trenkamp, Edna Droesche and Irene Dugan.

Joan M. Pax Bruns
          Joan M. Pax Bruns, 72, died at 5:45 a.m. Oct. 21, 2006, at her residence.
          She was born April 16, 1934, in New Weston to Jacob and Antoinette Nordenbrock Pax, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 20, 1955, she married Robert A. Bruns, who survives in Ottoville.
          Mrs. Bruns was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, liturgy committee, lector, Eucharistic minister and teacher. She graduated in three years from St. Henry High School in 1951. She was a graduate of the Lay Ministry and Diaconate Formation Program of Toledo Dioceses Study. She was a member of the Northwest and Ohio Association of Supervisors and Work-Study Coordinators, and the Child Conservation League of Delphos and Ottoville.     She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1955, and a master’s in education from Bowling Green State University in 1966. She began teaching in Coldwater, followed by Cranberry School and Ottoville Elementary. She had more than 34 years in education, with the past 20 years devoted to children with special needs and 14 years as educational consultant for the Putnam County schools.
          Survivors also include two sons, Dr. Michael (Donna) Bruns, of Coldwater, and David (Barb) Brens, of Tiffin; five daughters, Teresa (James) Bloomfield, of Lima, Angela (Mark) Utrup, of Delphos, Carol (Shawn) McGee, of Cincinnati, Janet (Curt) Cok, of Willard, and Barbara (Eric) Mueller, of Bowling Green; four sisters, Adeline Laihr, of Columbus, Mary Hunt, of Cleveland, Dorothy (Ed) Stoermer, of Vandalia, and Sister Joel Pax, of South bend., Ind.; four brothers, James Pax, of Texas, Clyde (Anne) Pax, of Charlottesville, Va., Alfred (Mary) Pax, of Columbus, and Charles (Julie) Pax, of Cambridge, Md.; and 15 grandchildren, Mark (Erin) Bruns, Matthew (Katie Boeckman) Bruns, Katie Bloomfield, Joshua Bloomfield, Bradley (Audrey Gasser) Utrup, Lauren Utrup, Danielle Bruns, Jessica Bruns, Casey Bruns, Kyle McGee, Sarah McGee, Matthew Cok, Jay Cok, Mikayla Mueller, and Jacob Mueller.
            She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Henry Pax; and a sister, Grace Pax.

Laverne “Bud” Rudolph Hoehn
            Laverne “Bud” Rudolph Hoehn, 77, died at 6 p.m. Oct. 21, 2006, at Lima Memorial Health System.
            He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Ottoville to Leo and Regina Gergen Hoehn, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 12, 1950, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lima, he married Jean Kesner, who survives.
             Mr. Hoehn was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He graduated from St. John’s High School, Lima, in 1947. He served honorably in the Navy for three years during the Korean War. He was a manager with Pangles Master Markets for 18 years. He retired in 1993 after working for 18 years at Kewpee. He enjoyed outdoor activities immensely and was an avid golfer and loved bowling with his family.
             Survivors include three sons, David (Linda) Hoehn, Timothy (Kathy) Hoehn and Daniel Hoehn, all of Lima; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marianne Hoehn and Margene (Richard) Dardio, both of Lima; and four brothers, Norbert (Twylah) Hoehn, Jerry (Ann) Hoehn, Hubert (Mary) Hoehn and Kenny (Jenny) Hoehn, all of Lima.
             He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Pangle and Deloris Ibittson.

Leander “Lee” Calvelage
              Leander “Lee” Calvelage, 85, died at 10 a.m. Nov. 4, 2006, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
              He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Ottoville to Walter and Mary Krieger Calvelage, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 12, 1946, he married M a n e t a Wa h m h o f f, who survives in Delphos.
              Mr. Calvelage was co-owner of Tri-County Hardware Store with his wife for many years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, the Delphos Knights of Columbus and a past member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Lima. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force, serving during World War II as a radioman from 1942 to 1945. He enjoyed St. John’s boys basketball and crossword puzzles. He loved to travel with his wife during his retirement years.
                Survivors also include three sons, Dave (Kathy) Calvelage, of Westerville, Rog (Debbie) Calvelage, of Delphos, and Brian (Jenny) Calvelage, of Girard, Pa.; two sisters, Loretta Hoffman, of Delphos, and Rita Weis, of Ottawa; a daughter, Phyllis (Jeffrey) Kinkle, of Delphos; and nine grandchildren and a special companion, Dolly.He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, infant Arthur and Othmer Calvelage.

              Raymond J. Wenzlick, 56, died at 12:50 a.m. Nov. 17, 2006, at Paradise Oaks Health Care Center, Cloverdale.
              He was born Aug. 21, 1950, in Putnam County to Herman and Ursula Elwer Wenzlick. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Ottoville.
              Mr. Wenzlick was a truck driver for Collins Trucking. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, Delphos, and American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

              Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by the Delphos Veterans Council and American Legion Post 715.
              Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Paul E. Altenburger
             Paul E. Altenburger, 92, died at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 13, 2006, at Springview Manor Nursing Home.
             He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Delphos to William Andrew and Zoe Huber Altenberger, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 12, 1935, he married Nelle Wilson, who died June 2, 1982. On June 25, 1983, he married Norma C. Miehls Brookhart, who survives in Lima.
             Mr. Altenberger had been a salesman for Pennington Bakery for 35 years and a courier for Huntington Bank for five years. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was a 1935 graduate of St. Rose High School. He enjoyed golfing. He had also lived in Bradenton, Fla.
              Survivors also include a daughter, Carolyn Sue (Joseph C.) Stoll, of Lima; two stepdaughters, Jacqueline Murphy, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Bonnie (Peter) Lonnevick, of Garden Grove, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Paul Stoll, William John Stoll, Bart Thomas Stoll, Rebecca Sue (Steve) Mac Donald, Elizabeth Ann (David) Brown, Thomas Paul (Jerri) Altenberger and Amy Marie (Matt) Cudworth; three stepgrandsons, Timothy (Delia) Modica, Dean Robert Modica and Peter (Jennifer) Lonnevick; nine great-grandchildren and three step*great-grandchildren.
              He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. Altenberger, who died in April 1983; and a brother, Marvin Altenberger, who died in 1975.
              A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father William Rose will officiate. Burial of the remains will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
              Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church or the building fund at Lima Central Catholic High School.

Janice K. Meyers
             Janice K. Meyers, 50, died the evening of Dec. 3, 2006, at her residence.
             She was born June 8, 1956, in Lima to Herman and Ursula Elwer Wenzlick. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives in Ottoville. On March 10, 1978, she married James Myers, who survives in Napoleon.
            Mrs. Myers was a case packer at Campbell Soup Co., Napoleon. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler.
            Survivors also include a son, Jason Myers, of Defiance; two daughters, Jill (Joseph) Gess, of Holgate, and Jamie Myers, of Holgate; six sisters, Ann Garr, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Marilyn (Jerry) Minnick, of Monroeville, Ind., Jean (Al) Tribolet, of Churubusco, Ind., and Karen (Paul) Knippen, Betty (Bill) Shobe and Carol Grothaus, all of Delphos; six brothers, Tom (Anna Mae “Masie”) Wenzlick, of Miller City, Joe (Jackie) Wenzlick, of Antwerp, and Otto (Rosie) Wenzlick, Rudy (Carol) Wenzlick, James (Yvonne) Wenzlick and Dennis (Marilyn) Wenzlick, all of Ottoville.
            She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond J. Wenzlick.
            Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler. Father Stephen Stanbery will officiate. Burial will be private.
            Friends may call from noon to 2 and 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
            Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Henry County Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Delores Jane Wurst
           Delores Jane Wurst, 77, died at midnight Dec. 4, 2006, at her residence.
           She was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Harrod to Cloyd and Irene Althaus Hall, who preceded her in death. On June 22, 1953, she married Richard J. Wurst, who survives in Ottoville.
           Mrs. Wurst retired from the Allen County Department of Jobs and Human Services. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740 Auxiliary, Ottoville. She was a graduate of Harrod High School. She loved spending time with her family and at the lake.
          Survivors also include a son, Jeffrey Wurst, of Columbus; two daughters, Jaylene Ryan and Nanette (Tom Sarno) Weaver, both of Lima; two sisters, Betty (Charles) Wallace, of Lima, and Shirley (Marion) Ballinger, of Bluffton; a brother, Roger (Breta) Hall, of Harrod; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Weaver, of Columbus, and Alyssa Weaver, Tara Ryan and Adam Ryan, all of Lima.
           A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville.
           Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Jerome E. Honigford
           Jerome E. Honigford, 82, died at 7:25 p.m. Dec. 24, 2006, at his residence.
           He was born on March 29, 1924, in Ottoville to Benjamin and Frances Bohn Honigford, who preceded him in death. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Ruth Moreo, who Delphos.
           Mr. Honigford worked at Fruehauf and retired from International Harvester. He was an Army veteran serving at Fort Campbell, Ky. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Delphos, where he was a cantor and a member of the men’s choir. He was a member and lead signer of the String Highlighters. He was a graduate of Ottoville High School. He was an avid gardener and he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
          Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Marie) Honigford, Steven Honigford, and Tim Honigford, all of Delphos; a daughter, Beverly (Tom) Jettinghoff, of Delphos; a sister, Jeanett (Gerald) Swavy, of Payne; two brothers, James (JoAnn) Honigford, and Don (Doris) Honigford, both of Ottoville; and a grandson, Aaron Honigford.
           He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Honigford.
           A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. The Rev. Melvin Verhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos.
            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. A parish wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
