Richard C. Koester
Richard C. Koester, 82, died at 1 p.m. Jan. 7, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 18, 1915,  in Ottoville to William and Rose Beining Koester. On Aug. 13, 1941, he married Alvera Becker, who survives.
Mr. Koester was a carpenter and retired from Lima Lumber Co. in 1981. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society.
Survivors also include a son, Terry (Sue) Koester of Rimer; two daughters, Janice (Robert) Etzkorn of Delphos and Sharon (Joe) Wannemacher of Ottoville; a brother, Dick Koester of Shepard, Mich.; three sisters, Lucinda Langhals, Bertha Weber and Rosemary Markward, all of Ottoville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers. Red and Bud Koester.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville.

Cletus G. Brinkman
Cletus G. Brinkman, 82, died at 3:50 a.m. Jan. 17, 1998, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Ottoville to Frank G. and Mary Roof Brinkman. He married Armella Klima, who died Sept. 3, 1982.
Mr. Brinkman was a farmer and worked for Clark Equipment. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville, Delphos Eagles and Holy Name Society.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Brinkman and Michael Brinkman, both of Ottoville; a sister, Verena Brinkman of Ottoville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. Obergefell will officiate. Robert E. Ruen
Robert E. Ruen, 56, died at 4:34 p.m. Jan. 25, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Ottoville to Albert and Verena Grubenhoff Ruen. On Feb. 25, 1975, he married Doris Belton, who died March 18, 1993.
Mr. Ruen was the foreman of second operations at Vanamatic Co., Delphos. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 471, Delphos.
Survivors include a son, Carl (Joni) Hjort of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Susan (Jim) Weeden of Delphos; a sister, Marie Grote of Kalida; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Owen Grubenhoff.
Services will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. The Rev. Walter Miller will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in St. John's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wanda L. A. Rayle
Wanda L. A. Rayle, 85, died at 3:10 p.m. Feb. 1, 1998, at her residence.
She was born March 20, 1912, in Ottoville to Robert and Nellie Stirn Harpster. On March 22, 1931, she married R. Lester Rayle, who died Jan. 3, 1995.
Mrs. Rayle was a former Dupont correspondent for Continental News Review, Putnam County Sentinel, Findlay Republican Courier, Defiance Crescent News and Oakwood News. She also worked for more than 20 years for W.S. Myers Concessions, Dupont. She was a charter member of the Dupont Senior Citizens Club and the Dupont Community Club. She was a 1949 Charter member of the Dupont ONO Club. She was a member of First Church of God, Dupont, its Women's Missionary Society and held several church offices. She was a 1930 graduate of Ottoville High School.
Survivors include two sons, Roger L. (Judy) Rayle of Columbus Grove and Edward L. (Joyce) Rayle of Ayersville; two daughters, Lois M. Brenneman of Dupont and the Rev. Delores M. Rayle of Willshire; two sisters, Lucile Wilson of Woodstown, N.J., and Eileen Clement of Miller, S.D.; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Rayle; a brother, Forest Harpster and a sister, Marcele Wistner.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental. The Revs. Paul Carder, Charles Shepard and Lyle Etter will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Cloverdale.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Dupont ONO Club memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

James Perrin
James ''Jim'' Perrin, 61, died Feb. 1 at Candler County Hospital.
He was born in Ottoville, Ohio, and lived most of his life in Fort Wayne, Ind., before moving to Savannah in 1986 and to Metter in 1993. He retired from Mike's Auto Parts. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Metter.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Biance Ann Perrin of Metter; two sons, Stephen Perrin of New Haven, Ind., and Daniel Perrin of Fort Wayne; five daughters, Jodie Kraegar and Lisa Dennis, both of Fort Wayne, Jamie Marks of Grable, Ind., Lori Humphreys of Columbia City, Ind., and Cindi Keesler of Metter; a brother, Dick Perrin of Cherokee Village, Ark.; three sisters, Amy Moore of Delphos, Ohio, Sandy Phillips of Riverview, Fla., and Elaine Hermberg; and 13 grandchildren.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home, Kennedy Chapel.
Funeral services and burial to be held later in Fort Wayne.

Veronica M. Hilvers
Veronica M. “Fronie” Hilvers, 87, Ottoville, died at 10:15 a.m. Friday, February 13, 1998, at her residence.
She was born on January 2, 1911, in Ottoville, to Henry and Mary (Sanders) Beining. She married Stephen D. Hilvers on October 5, 1932, and he died July 16, 1963.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth A. (Richard A.) Schroeder, Leipsic; five sons, John H. (Annette) Hilvers, Jim A. (Jean) Hilvers, Robert E. (Alice M.) Hilvers, Richard G. (Janice A.) Hilvers, and Thomas S. (Karen R.) Hilvers, all of Ottoville; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lawrence Beining, John Beining, Oscar Beining and Adolph Beining, all of Ottoville; and two sisters, Martha Noonan and Elinor Kimmet, both of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Beining; two sisters, Bertha Kimmet and Marcella Beining, and one son Donald M. Hilvers.
Mrs. Hilvers was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Rosary Alter Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 30 and the VFW Auxiliary #3740 of Ottoville.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 16, 1998, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
Arrangements were handled by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Josephine M. Clementz, 77, died at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 23, 1998, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Marion to Peter and Mary Shortino Madonia. On Nov. 27, 1947, she married Frank A. Clementz, who survives.
Mrs. Clementz was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, its Altar Rosary Society, and the American Legion Post 715 Auxiliary, Fort Jennings. She was a life member and past president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville.
Survivors also include four sons, Andrew (Judy) Clementz, John Clementz and Peter (Patricia) Clementz, all of Cloverdale, and Joe Clementz of Fort Jennings; four daughters, Mary (James) Mox of Delphos, Helen (Dale William) Calvelage and Fran (Steve) Kerner, both of Fort Jennings, and Josephine (Eddie) Duling of Ottawa; a  brother, Frank Madonia of Lima; two sisters, Lena Walker and Rosie Pierce, both of Lima; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Frances A. Hoehn, 90, died at 10:57 a.m. April 14, 1998, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
She was born June 22, 1907, in Ottoville to Peter and Wilhemina Grote Gergen. On June 22, 1927, she married Sylvester Hoehn, who died Nov. 14, 1985.
Mrs. Hoehn was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, its Altar Rosary Society, and Ottoville Senior Citizens.
Survivors include four daughters, Sister Marie Renee Hoehn of Dayton, Dorothy Bowen and Eileen (Gilbert) Kehres, both of Ottoville, and Lorene (Don) Lindeman of Fort Jennings; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Arthur Hoehn; and a sister, Regina Hoehn.

Joseph E. Weber
Joseph E. Weber, 77, of Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Ottoville, died May 18, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Ottoville to Albert and Regina Schmitt Weber. On May 29, 1948 he married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Wannemacher, who survives.
Mr. Weber was a teacher and had worked as a supervisor at Phillips Electronics for more than 30 years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lantana, Fla.
Survivors also include three daughters, Nancy (Dave) Ingleright of West Palm Beach, Fla., Kathryn (Thomas) Knapke of Cincinnati and Michelle (Kennéth) Rick of Lake Worth, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Weber and Gene Weber, both of Delphos; three sisters, Luella Barkimer of Lima, Helen Geddings of Delphos and June Link of Columbus Grove; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters. Colletta Schräm, Donna Reinemeyer and Imogene Jackson.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville.

Joseph L. Wannemacher
Joseph L. Wannemacher, 52, Ottoville, died at 10:07 p.m. Friday, June 5, 1998, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born September 8, 1945, in Cincinnati, to Edward and Helen (Heckman) Wannemacher. He married Sharon A. Koester on July 31, 1965 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jeff Wannemacher and Brian (Jennifer) Wannemacher, both of Ottoville; two daughters, Robin (Terry) Hamilton and Tina (Kevin) Hesseling, both of Delphos; six grandchildren; and one sister, Joanne (Kenneth) Wrasman, Landeck.
Mr. Wannemacher was a supervisor for GKN Sinter Metals, Van Wert, for 30 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, Delphos Country Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles #471, Delphos and was a C.Y.O. and seventh grade basketball coach in Ottoville, where three out of four years his seventh grade teams won the Putnam County Championship.
A Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Florence A. Brabant Metcalf
Florence A. Brabant Metcalf, 75, died 2:02 a.m. June 9, 1998, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Ottoville, to Marcile Rayman, who survives. On March 11, 1939, she married Edgar Metcalf, who also survives. Mrs. Metcalf was a homemaker.
Survivors also include two sons, Robert (Kathi) Metcalf of Lima and Tom (Pam) Metcalf of Hume; three daughters, Judy Schmelzenbach of Clayton, N.C., Kay (William) Garland and Joan (Karl) Kline, both of Lima; a brother; three sisters; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Roger Dale Metcalf, Michael Allen Metcalf and Kevin Michael Metcalf.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, The Rev. Thomas Gorman will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Helen M. Schmenk
Helen M. Schmenk, 90, died at 5:15 a.m. June 15, 1998, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Center, Cloverdale.
She was born Nov. 15, 1907, in Fort Jennings to Frank and Helena Bendele Wieging. On Nov. 22, 1933, she married Edward Schmenk, who died July 3.
Mrs. Schmenk was retired from Sylvania, Ottawa. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
Survivors include two brothers, Albert Wieging of Cloverdale and Vincent Wieging of Rockwood, Mich.; three sisters. Rose Kortier of Leesburg, Fla., Fredona Klima of Ottawa, and Leona Charboneau of Lady Lake, Fla.; and a stepgrandson.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Ronald Schmenk; two brothers, Roman and Leonard “Curly” Wieging; and two sisters, Ida Martin and Irma Wannemacher.

Donald F. Schneider
Donald F. Schneider, 62, of Brighton, Tenn., formerly of Lima, died June 18, 1998, at the home of Richard and Linda Williams, with whom he lived.
He was born March 15, 1936, in Ottoville to Gregory John and Armada Edna "Mame" Schneider.
Mr. Schneider was a Navy veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lima. He was a retired electrician. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 32 and had worked in the Lima area for 45 years.
Survivors also include a son, Donald J. Schneider of Lima; three daughters, Kim Martin of Botkins, Penny Jo Schneider of Kenton and Cindy Hudson of Hampton, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville Dean and Gary Gregory Schneider.
Graveside services were held Monday at Salem Cemetery in Atuka, Tenn. The Rev. Timothy VanDouser officiated.
Arrangements were by Munford Funeral Home, Munford, Tenn.

Martha M. Pohl
Martha M. Pohl, 88, Ottoville, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
She was born March 23, 1910, in Ottoville, to Anthony and Veronica (Metzger) Hilvers. She married Bernard “Barney” Pohl on November 24, 1932 and he died February 29, 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Richard J. (Dorothy) Pohl, Cairo, and Ralph R. (Betty) Pohl, Ottawa; two daughters, Rita (David) Croy, Kalida, and Edna (Ronald) Haselman, Leipsic; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Pohl; one daughter, Dolores Pohl; four brothers, George, Leo, Roman and John Hilvers; and two sisters, Amelia Kreinbrink and Rose Aliemeir.
Mrs. Pohl was a homemaker, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Alter Rosary Society.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Cletus J. Wannemacher
Cletus J. Wannemacher, 87, of Dayton, formerly of Ottoville, died at 8:15 p.m. June 26, 1998, at Koester Pavillion, Troy.
He was born March 5, 1911, in Ottoville to Lewis J. and Mary C. Schneider Wannemacher.
Mr. Wannemacher retired from photographic sales. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dayton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include three nephews, David (Monika) Wanamaker of Fort Loramie, Dan (Barbara) Wannemacher of Kalida and John (Irene) Wannemacher of Delphos; three nieces, Joyce (James) Miehls of Fort Jennings, Beverly Egger of Midlothian, Va., and Joanne (Ken) Wrasman of Delphos; and two sisters-in-law, Angela Horstman Wannemacher Bendele of Delphos and Virginia Hamilton Wanamaker of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward J. and Marvin Wannemacher and Frederick R. Wanamaker; and a nephew, Joe W. Wannemacher.

Urban J. Warnecke
Urban Joseph (Dutch) Warneke, 88, a retired cabinetmaker and former gun shop owner, died Monday, June 29, at Holmes regional medical center in Melbourne.
Mr. Warneke was born in Ottoville, Ohio. He recently came to Brett Garrard County from Sapphire, North Carolina.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Brevard, North Carolina. He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his sister, Florentine Warneke of Ottoville; and niece, Doris Yeary of Deer Park.
No calling hours are scheduled. Graveside services will be at 10 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Palm Bay. Davis funeral home in Melbourne is in charge of arrangements.

Othmer Grubenhoff
Othmer “ Bob” Grubenhoff, 84, of Fort Myeres, Fla., formerly of Delphos, died July 4, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Ottoville to Henry and Matilda Kehres Grubenhoff. He married Rita Mueller, who survives.
Mr. Grubenhoff retired in 1978 as owner and operator of Bob's Grocery in Delphos after 32 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, and St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Fort Myers, Fla.
He was a charter member of the original Citizens of Delphos committee, an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus and past president of Delphos Kiwanis.
He was a past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was an avid softball fan.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos.

Howard C. Spencer
Howard Charles Spencer, 80, Ottoville, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 1998, at his residence.
He was born in Continental on October 1, 1917, to Charles Lester and Ether Ora Kirkendall. On May 7, 1939, he married Irene J. Bigelow and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons. G. Dean (Gloria) Spencer, Ottawa, and Jimmy C. (Nancy) Spencer, Ottoville; a daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Robert Sr.) Urton, Ottoville; a granddaughter’ seven grandsons; two step granddaughters; a step grandson; five great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen (Norma) Spencer, Oakwood and Kenneth (Ruth) Spencer, Continental.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly J. Shade; two sisters, Lela McLaughlin and Imogene Tschann; and two grandchildren, Chad L. Staib and Deana L. Shade.
Mr. Spencer was a truck driver for over 50 years. He was a member of the Ft. Jennings American Legion and the Auto/Dealer Association. He was a World War II Navy Veteran.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 1 to 9 p.m. at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. Military services will be held at 8:30 p.m. this evening.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. Rev. Gary Beatty and Deacon Walter Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. Graveside Military services will be held by Ft. Jennings American Legion.

Sister M. Leonissa Miller
The funeral mass for Precious Blood Sister M. Leonissa Miller, 93, was held on July 20, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Salem Heights, Dayton. She died July 15, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
Originally from Ottoville, Sister M. Leonissa was the daughter of Joseph and Wilhelmina (Lehmkuhle) Miller. Baptized Marina, she entered the Sisters of the recious Blood on August 19, 1920, at Maria Stein, and was given the name Sister M. Leonissa. Her profession of Perpetual Vows was on August 15, 1929, at Salem Heights, Dayton.
Sister Leonissa ministered as an elementary teacher for almost 50 years. She taught at Holy Trinity, Colwater; St. Mary’s, Dayton; Sts. Peter and Paul, Norwood; and in public schools in Botkins, Minster, New Riegel and Ft. Recovery. She also taught at Little Flower Academy in Oceanside, CA.
In 1976, Sister Leonissa retired and continued to minister through prayer while living in Salem Heights in Dayton. Ten years later she moved to Emma Hall of the Maria-Joseph Living Care Center to receive nursing care.
Sister Leonissa is survived by her brother, Jerome Miller, Findlay, her sister Marcella Bendele, Ottoville, and nieces and nephews living in the Putnam County area. Her cousins, Sister Mary DePaul and Magdelena Miller, are also Sisters of the Precious Blood.
Interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery, Dayton.

Leona M. Maag, 92, Glandorf, died Monday, July 20, 1998, at 3:20 p.m. at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
She was born May 5, 1906 in Ottoville to Joseph and Adelaide (Ruen) Schmersal. On September 12, 1928, she married Albert Maag, who died August 5, 1974.
She is survived by two sons, Clayton Maag, Leipsic, and Michael (Angela) Maag, Glandorf; four daughters, Bernice (Leo) Drerup, Delphos, Jeanette Dangler, Ottawa, Carolyn Parys, Perrysburg, and Georgian (Arthur) Westrick, New Bavaria; 34 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one brother, William (Marie) Schmersal, Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Maag; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Othmar, Mark and George Schmersal; and a sister, Marcella Stechschulte.
Mrs. Maag was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Alter Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday  (today) at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. A CLC and Alter Rosary Society service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday (today) with a scripture service to follow at 8:45 p.m., both at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 1998, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. Fr. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Annabelle Rose
Annabelle Rose, 80, died at 5:45 p.m. July 22, 1998, at her daughter's residence.
She was born July 22, 1918, in Ottoville to Andrew Miller and OraBell Lalonde Miller. On Dec. 28, 1940, she married Everett E. Rose, who died June 20, 1981.
Mrs. Rose retired as custodian after 25 years of service with First Assembly of God Church and had worked for Myers Cleaners, both in Delphos. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church; for over 20 years, was volunteer and codirector of, Inter-Faith Thrift Shop, Delphos; and was an over 5 gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Survivors include a son, David Lynn (Mary) Rose of Delphos; a daughter, Cheryl Sue Keller of Lima; a sister, Beatrice Stepleton of Ottoville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Edward and Gary Deane Rose; two brothers, Edward and Lewis Miller; and five sisters, Velma Pitsenbarger, Millie Adam, Vinnie Neese, Edith Neal, and Verda Burkholder.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel. The Revs. James Menke Sr. and Kevin Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in King Cemetery, Middle Point.

Albert G. Wieging, 88, Ottoville, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at 7:40 a.m. at Paradise Oaks Nursing Center, Cloverdale.
He was born February 6, 1910, in Ft. Jennings to Frank and Helena (Bendele) Wieging. On November 30, 1940 he married Mildred C. Hoersten, who died August 4, 1987.
He is survived by on son, Rev. James F. Wieging, River Rouge, MI; three daughters, Janice (Robert) Conrad, Romulus, MI, Lucy (David) Pohlman, Delphos, and Barbara (P. Michael) Meachum, Conifer, CO; seven grandchildren; one brother, Vincent Wieging, Rockwood, MI; and three sisters, Rose Kortier, Leesburg, FL, Fredona Klima, Ottawa, and Leona Charbaneau, Lady Lake, FL.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Wieging, Ida Martin, Irma Bohn-Wannemacher, and Helen Schmenk; and two brothers, Roman and Leonard Wieging.
Mr. Wieging retired January 1, 1975 after 35 years as a job planner from Great Lakes Steel (now National Steel) in Ecourse, MI. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society, and the Ft. Jennings American Legion Post 715, where he was commander twice. He was also a district commander and a zone commander. He was a member of the Ottoville VFW Post 3740, the Military Order of the Purple Hearts, Wyandotte, MI, a member of the disabled veterans of Van Wert, and Ottoville Senior Citizens, where he had been president several times.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, with his son Father James Wieging officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. Military Graveside Rites where conducted by Ottoville VFW and Ft. Jennings American Legion.

Arthur F. Hoersten
Arthur F. Hoersten, 63, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at his residence at 121 Larkspur Terrace, Bellevue.
He was born in Van Wert County, May 26, 1935, to the late Joseph and Anne (Hughes) Hoersten. His wife, Joyce A. (Spieles) Hoersten, whom he married Oct. 5, 1957, in St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos, survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Mark Hoersten of Chagrin Falls, David Hoersten of Toledo, Craig Hoersten of Dallas, Texas and Matthew Hoersten of Columbus; three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Jodi) Fry of Bloomington, Ill., Mrs. Ed (Jan) Hemeyer of Bellevue and Jill Hoersten of Garfield Heights; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Kenneth; and two sisters, Alice Pavel and Carol Niese.
A 1954 graduate of Ottoville High School and a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital-School of Radiology, Fort Wayne, Ind., Mr. Hoersten had been employed at the Bellevue Hospital Laboratory for 32 years, retiring as laboratory director in 1990.
Also a laboratory director at St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs 1975-95, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Club Amer-Ital and the Elks Lodge, all of Bellevue and the I.A.B. Club of Sandusky.
The Rev. Robert Tucerri will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, will be 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

Dolores M. Hempfling, 77, Delphos, died at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born in Ottoville on January 1, 1921, to John and Josephine (Schimmoeller) Thines. On June 30, 1948, she married Cyril F. Hempfling, and he survives.
Other survivors include one sons, David Hempfling, Delphos; two daughters, Patricia (Peter) Clementz, Cloverdale, and Kathleen (John) Spinosa, Cocoa, FL; two grandsons, Joshua and Ryan Clementz; a brother Dennis Thines, Lima; and three sisters, Armella (Elmer) Martz, Ottoville, Valeta (Joseph) Stallkamp, Delphos, and Janet (Robert) Fisher, Boynton Beach, FL.
Mrs. Hempfling was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, August 1, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos.

Mr. Uhrich was the department Chief of Radiology at Little Company of Mary Hospital for 25 years.

Center.
She was born June 22, 1920, in Ottoville to Urban and Stephanie Rekart Wannamacher. On May 27, 1939, she married Edmund Osting, who survives.
Mrs. Osting was a retired bookkeeper for the Rinks Stores and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Jennings.
Survivors also include two daughters, Sonna Whitney of Dublin, and Bonita Osting of El Tore, Calif.; a brother, Maurice Wannamacher of Ottoville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers. Jack, Stanley, and Thomas Wannamacher.

Joseph J. Klima Sr., 84, died at 8:35 p.m. Sept. 3, 1998, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
He was bom May 3, 1914, in Ottoville, to Joseph William and Elizabeth C. Sanders Klima. On Sept. 30, 1939, he married Bertha Seimet, who survives.
Mr. Klima retired from Westinghouse after 31 years and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Ottoville. He was World War II Army Air Corp veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ottoville, and the American Legion in Fort Jennings.
Survivors also include three sons, Joseph (Susan) Klima and Thomas (Sue) Klima, both of Ottoville, and Ronald (Joyce) Klima of Toledo; a sister, Caroline Maag of Bryan; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was born September 18, 1922, in Ottoville, to Joseph H. Sr. and Dorothy M. (Vincke) Van Oss. On October 28, 1942, he married Dolores D. “Kitty” Schulte and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Thomas (Sharon) Van Oss, Glandorf, Bruce (Teresa) Van Oss, Cloverdale, Kevin (Cheryl) Van Oss, Ottoville; two daughters, Gloria (Dean) Spencer, Ottawa, and Janice (Bob) Warnement, Kalida; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Edmund Van Oss, Minster; two sisters, Agnes (Wilbur) Miller, Kenton, and Dorothy (Stanley) Hovest.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil and John Van Oss; and three sisters, Alberta French, Betty Leist and Carmelita Van Oss.
Mr. Van Oss was the former plant manager at I & K Distributers, and presently traffic manager, where he was employed for 25 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in the 31st Engineer Corps. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society; a life member of VFW Post 3740, Ottoville, where he was Post Commander; a member of American Legion Post 715, Ft. Jennings; Delphos Country Club and a past member of Delphos Kiwanis.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites by VFW and American Legion.

Irene B. Ricker, 86, died at 6:55 a.m. Oct. 3, 1998, at Putnam Acres, Ottawa.
She was born March 5, 1912, in Ottoville to Alexander Odenweller and Bertha Flanagan. She married Eugene G. Ricker, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ricker worked in the medical records department at Mercy Hospital, Toledo.
Survivors include two sons, Robert J. (Joan) Ricker of Delphos and Richard "Tom" (Jerrie) Ricker of Holgate; a daughter, Genie (John) Operacz Kehres of Toledo; two brothers, Jim Odenweller of Ottawa and Eugene Odenweller of Ottoville; a sister, Alice Fortman of Ottawa; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Roman J. Wannemacher
Roman J. Wannemacher, 66, Ottawa, died at 11:02 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 1998, at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center.
He was born in Ottoville on March 18, 1932, to Albert and Sabina (Herman) Wannemacher. On January 19, 1957, he married Betty Schmenk and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Dave) Warnecke and Barbara (Alan) Fortman, both of Kalida; five grandchildren; one brother, Justin (Alice) Wannemacher, Ottoville; and two sisters, Marie (Richard) Maas, Ottawa, and Jeanette (Vernon) Schroeder, Ottoville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wannemacher.
Mr. Wannemacher was a barber in Ottawa since 1956 and owned Wannemacher Barber Shop since 1963. He was a bus driver for Ottawa-Glandorf schools for 25 years and a former paramedic with the Ottawa EMS.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and a member of its Holy Name Society.
Mr. Wannemacher was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a charter member and past commander of Ottawa VFW Post 9142, a member of American Legion Post 63, Ottawa, past president of Ottawa Eagles Aerie No. 2234, and a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Tom Hemm officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery, with graveside rites by the Ottawa VFW and the American Legion.

Harold J. Altenburger, 82, died at 9:58 p.m. Oct. 29, 1998, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
He was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Putnam County to Andrew and Matilda Schmidt Altenburger. On July 1, 1939, he married. Evelyn F. Keifer, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Altenburger retired as a truck driver and attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Van Wert.
Survivors also include three sons, James Altenburger of Van Wert Keith (Marrianne) Altenburger of Gomer and Barry (Lynn) Altenburger of Hoaglin, Ind.; three daughters, Kay Altenburger of Tiffin, Bonita (Don) Michael of Kimmel, Ind., and Susan (Kenneth) Waltke of Fort; Wayne, Ind.; five brothers, Hubert Altenburger, Wilbur Altenburger, Jerome Altenburger, Paul Altenburger and Donald Altenburger, all of Ottoville; three sisters, Louise Alt of Ottoville, Deloris Freimoth of Fort. Jennings and Irene Stechshulte of Kalida; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: a son; two infant daughters and a half-brother, Elmer Smith.

He was born in Ottoville on May 7, 1907, to Joseph and Wilhelmina (Lehmkuhle) Miller. He married Teresa Ann Erhart on September 30, 1930, and she died February 8, 1990.
Survivors include five sons, Paul Miller, Columbus Grove, Kenneth J. Miller, Cridersville, Carl E. Miller Bowling Green, Robert L. Miller and Anthony Miller, Findlay; seven daughters, Mrs. Dolores (Vernon) Askins, Ft. Jennings, Mrs. Angela (Richard) Schroeder and Mrs. Marjorie (Paul) Stechschulte, Kalida, Mrs. Joan (Richard) Waltman, Delphos, Mrs. Sharon (Charles) Griffith, Mrs. Janet (James) Cox, and Mrs. Anne (Robert) Craine, Findlay; 34 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marcella Bendele, Ottoville.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo Miller, Cyril Miller, Edwin Miller, and Beno Miller; and four sisters, Odelia Bensman, Edwina Byrne, Sister Pius Miller and Sister Leonissa Miller.
Mr. Miller was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Findlay. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus. He was a retired Hancock County farmer and was a custodian at St. Michael School for 16 years retiring in 1987.

She was born on October 20, 1909, in Putnam County, to Martin and Veronica (Eickholt) Miller. On November 30, 1933, she married George P. Hilvers, and he died October 14, 1968.
Survivors include four sons, Paul (Norma) Hilvers, Pennsboro, WV, Philip (Carol) Hilvers, Ottoville, Gerald (Jane) Hilvers, Cloverdale, and Mark (Kathy) Hilvers, Ft. Jennings; one daughters, Dr. Jane (Richard J.) Bonifas, Venedocia; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Loretta Miller, Ottoville.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Wilbur, Mark, Roman, Bruno, Hugo, Steve and Isidore Miller; a sister, Bertha Grothaus; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Hilvers was a homemaker and also farmer with her husband. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. The Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Norbert J. Grote, 78, died at 10 a.m. Dec. 22, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Jackson Township, Putnam County, to Joseph and Anna Kahle Grote. On Nov. 18, 1953, he married Ruth Broecker, who survives.
Mr. Grote was a retired farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a former member of its Holy Name Society. He was a former member of the board of directors at Fort Jennings Equity, a former committee member of Putnam County ASC and Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation, and past president of Farmer's Mutual Aid Insurance. He was a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville and American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings. He was a member of VFW Cooties, Putnam County Voiture 60 and Delphos Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include five sons, Dennis Grote, David Grote, Timothy (Kara) Grote and Ken Grote, all of Cloverdale, and Michael Grote of Delphos; four daughters, Patricia (Robert) Risner of Elida and Diane (Jeff) McDougle, Jean (Mike) Lyons and Karen Eickholt, all of Delphos; a brother, Gerald Grote of Kalida; two sisters, Mary Hoffman of Kalida and Odellia Myers of Norwalk; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Norman and Steven Grote; two brothers, Leo and Sylvester Grote; and a sister, Genevia Grote.

He was born in Ottoville to William J. Sr., and Emma (Bertling) Odenweller, he was married to Helen Dodge, and she died in 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Odenweller, Jr., Reading, PA, and Theodore W. Odenweller, Urbana, IL; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, William J. Odenweller, Jr., Bradenton, FL.
Mr. Odenweller was a 1924 graduate of St. John’s High School, Delphos, and ion 1929 graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He served in the U. S. Army, and the Army Reserves for 35 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mount Penn, PA.
There will be a private service at 10 a.m. on Thursday December 31, 1998, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mount Penn, PA. Interment will be made in Gethsemani Cemetery, Laureldale, PA.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Lutz Funeral Home, Reading, PA.
