Laura Genevieve Carrington, 79, a homemaker, died Sunday, January 1, at Taylor Estates in Ft. Pierce.
Mrs. Carrington was born in Ottoville Ohio. She came to Indian River County 14 years ago from Aussie on Ohio.
She was a member of our Savior Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia fond Dale and Luanne Wade, both of Vero Beach; son, James Carrington of Fayette, Ohio; it's grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
No calling hours or services are scheduled. Strunk funeral home in Vero Beach is in charge of arrangements.

Jay M. Wehner

Jay Michael Wehner, 5, London, died 1:25 p.m. at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was born Sept. 9, 1989, in Columbus to Robert and Joyce (Hilvers of Ottoville) Wehner. His parents survive in London.
Also surviving are a half brother, Aaron Wehner of Lima, a sister, Erica Lynn Wehner of London; grandparents, Jane and Gerald Hilvers of Ottoville, Nellie Gossard of Lima; and great-grandmother Lucinda Hilvers of Ottoville.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,

Elmer J. Martz

Elmer J. Martz, 51, Ottoville, died 3:35 p.m. Jan. 11, 1995, in the emergency room of St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Ottoville to Elmer W. and Armella (Thines) Martz His parents survive in Ottoville. On April 16, 1966, in Delphos, he married Nancy L. Mack. She survives in Ottoville.
Also surviving are two sons and a daughters-in-law, Kevin and Karen
Martz of Ft. Wayne and Kirt Martz of Ottoville: four sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Eugene Nartker of Kalida, Marilyn and Robert Hoffman of Ottoville, Janice and Dennis Neidert of Fort Jennings, and Darlene and William Maenle of Ottoville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Martz.
He was an employee of Fruehauf Corp. for 28 years. He was a member of the National Guard 1964-70, and was president of the Star Federal Credit Union in Delphos.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. He was member of the St. Mary's Cemetery Board, Ottoville.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church, the Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Genevieve A. Schlagbaum
Genevieve Agnes Schlagbaum, 85, Ottoville, died at 11:32 a.m. Friday, January 13, 1995, at Sara Jane Chambers Geriatric Center, Delphos. She was born March 22, 1909, in Delphos, to Fred and Anna (Will) Hempfling. On August 19, 1933, she married Walter Schlagbaum, and he survives.
Mrs. Schlagbaum was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Altar Rosary Society.
Also surviving are two sons, William, Delphos, and Paul, Evergreen, CO: four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Martha) Fischbach, Ottoville. Mrs. Paul (Norma) Hilvers, Pennsboro, WV, Mrs. Paul (Anne) Beining, Ottoville, and Mrs. David (Diane) Honigford, Grove City: a sister, Ida Falter, Troy: 28 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, January 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Fr. Sylvan Obergefell officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville.
Arrangements were handled by Harter and Son Funeral Home, Delphos.

Alice E. Beckman

            Alice E. Beckman, 77, died at 2 p.m. Jan. 23, 1995, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home in Glandorf.
She was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Ottoville, to Charles and Clara (Pittner) Sawmiller. On Nov. 14, 1936, she married Herman J. Beckman, who died Dec. 5, 1977.
Mrs. Beckman was a homemaker. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, the Ottawa Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and SS. Peter and Paul Altar-Rosary Society. Survivors include two brothers, Cyril Sawmiller of Lima and Charles Sawmiller of Loxahatchee, Fla.; and four sisters, Theresa Heiing of Ottawa, Ruth Menke and Clara Honigfort, both of Fort Jennings, and Dorothy Metcalfe of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Beckman; a brother, Harold Sawmiller; and three sisters, Mary Sawmiller, Rosemary Seimet and Gertrude Michel.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Miller City.
Friends may call 7 to 9 tonight at McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where an Eagles service will be held at 7:30 p.m. followed by a scripture service at 8:30 p.m.

Robert O. Hoehn
Robert O. Hoehn, 54, Bangor, Mich., died Jan. 23 at Lake View Community Hospital, Paw Paw, Mich.
He was born March 17, 1940, in Detroit, Mich. On April 11, 1963, he married
Janice Hoehn, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Rebecca
Hoehn of Bridgeman, Mich., Michael Hoehn of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Michael Kauffman of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a bother, Paul Hoehn of Ottoville; three sisters, Judy Brickner of Ottoville, Doris Siefker of Ottawa and Rita Halker of Columbus Grove; and three grandchildren.
He was the owner/operator of the Hoehn Tractor Service, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Sacred Heart church, Bangor.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am. Friday at Sacred Hear the Rev. Donald Atchison officiating. Burial will be in Colburn Cemetery. Arlington Township, Mich.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the D.L. Miller Funeral Home, Bangor, where a rosary service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hilda R. Pittner
            Mass of Christian Burial for Hilda R. Pittner, 85, of Ottoville will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, the Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville. Mrs. Pittner died 4:35 a.m. Feb. 3 at Delphos Memorial Nursing Home.
            She was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Cloverdale to Andrew and Mary J. (Hohlbein) Altenburger. On June 12, 1934, she married Joseph A. Pittner. He died Nov. 25, 1983.
            Survivors include one son, Thomas Pittner, of Delphos, and two grandchildren, Amy and Travis.
            She was preceded in death by five sisters, Magdalena Hohenbrink, Louise Gilly, Catherine Altenburger, Lauretta Clark and Marcele Hoehn; and five brothers, John Altenburger, George Altenburger, Lawrence Altenburger, Bernard Altenburger and Leo Altenburger.
            Mrs. Pittner was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, its Alter Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
            Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, where a combined Alter Rosary Society and CL of C memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday followed by the parish wake at 8 p.m.

Leona C. Schimmoeller
Leona C. Schimmoeller, 86, of Ottoville died 2:20 p.m. Feb. 8 in St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born March 3, 1908, in Landeck to Mathias and Clara (Kaverman) Kroeger. On June 15, 1932, in Landeck, she married Mellitus F. Schimmoeller. He died April 27, 1989.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Schimmoeller of Andover, Mass; three daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Norman Hesseling of Delphos, Carolyn and Norman Maag of Columbus Grove and Kay and Don Meyer of Fort Jennings; a brother. M. A. Kroeger of Delphos; two sisters, Catherine Metzger of Toledo and Germaim Trentman of Lima; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Art Kroeger; and a sister, Margaret Reinemeyer.
            She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and it's Altar Rosary Society.

Joann M. Hohlbein
JoAnn Mary Hohlbein, 58, of Cloverdale died 6:50 a.m. Feb. 21 at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1936, in Ottoville to Ludwig F. and Mayme (Bedink) Weber. On Aug. 4, 1956, she married Virgil Hohlbein, and he survives.
Also surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law. Tim and Sharon Hohlbein of Ottoville, Darrell and Heather Hohlbein of Toledo, Mitchell Hohlbein of New Bremen, and Doug Hohlbein of Swanton; a daughter, Renee Shumaker of Ottoville; five brothers, Stanley Weber of Wyandot. Mich., Jim Weber of Mesa, Ariz., John Weber of Fort Wayne, Louis Weber of Delphos and Tom Weber of Ottawa; a sister, Mrs. George (Marie) Lubeley of Arlington, Va.; and five grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was past president of the J.C. Otts.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Thomas J. Sanders
Funeral services for Thomas John Sanders, 57, of West Memphis, Ark., formerly of Putnam County, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Taylor Funeral Home, Amanda, the Rev. Ronald Arter officiated. The remains are to be cremated.
He died March 3 at the University of Tennessee Bowld Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Putnam County, to Edward Gerhart and Lucille Theresa (Ellerbrock) Sanders. His mother survives in Ottoville. He married Lynn Brown, and she also survives.
Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brent Sanders of Columbus and Scott and Angela Sanders of Hartford City, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Steven Yoakum of Amanda and Laura and Kenneth Dunlevy of Bellefontaine; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Sanders of Wisconsin six sisters and brothers-in-law, Sister Anna Marie Sanders and Marilyn and Daniel Yates of Ottoville, Carol Jean and Jerry Myers of Ft. Jennings, Kim and Jim King of Carroll, and Mary and Mike Hoverman of Westerville and Barbara Sanders of Columbus; and 10 grandchildren.
He had worked as a truck driver.

Gilbert F. Sanders
            Funeral services for Gilbert Frank Sanders, 67, Delphos, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Gary Utz officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
            He died 8:59 p.m. March 8 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
            He was born Oct. 20, 1927, in Ottoville to Joseph and Anna (Pohl) Sanders. In 1945, he married Treva Metcalfe, and she survives.
            Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Lora Sanders of Defiance and Douglas and Lisa Sanders of Delphos; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. John (Sharon) Johnson of Vaughnsville, Mrs. Paul (Becky) Richardson of Delphos, Mrs. David (Sandra) Diehl of Defiance, Mrs. William (Karen) Fosburgh of Spencerville, Mrs. Michael (Christina) Kimmet and Mrs. William (Janice) Romes of Ft. Jennings, Mrs. Gerald (Lori) Romes of Ohio City; a brother, Gerald Sanders of Cridersville two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Rampe of Kalida and Sister Mary Silvina (Loretta Sanders) of Dayton; 18 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvester Sanders and Joseph Sanders; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Anne Schimmoeller and Mrs. Lucinda Ellerbrock.
            He was a retired mechanic and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the VFW Dads Club, the Military Order of the Cootie, and American Legion Post 268.

            Funeral services for John E. Pohl, 80, St. Mary’s were 2 p.m. today in Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Revs. Roger Meredith and Eldon Stirn officiating. Burial was made in the Amanda Baptist Cemetery, east of Spencerville.
            He died at noon March 17 at his residence.
            He was born March 27, 1914, in Ottoville to Henry and Magdalena (Hohlbein) Pohl. On July 2, 1940, he married Helen E. Smith, and she survives.
            Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janice) Wein of Spencerville and Mrs. Spencer (Drussilla) Cunningham of Bowling Green; a brother, Elmer Pohl of St. Louis, MO.; two sisters, Clara Vondran and Margaret Powell of Delphos; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Pohl; and two sisters, Lucille Clark and Dorothy Barnes.
            He was an electrician for Barnes-Joy Electrical Engineering, Lima.
            He was a member of Mount Zion Methodist Church, Celina, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 32 of Lima, and its Retirees Club.

            Sharon L. Wuebker, 57, of Ottoville died at 11:20 a.m. March 29, at Paradise Oaks Quality Care Nursing Center.
            She was born Feb. 12, 1938 in Ottoville, to William and Bertha (Mittelkamp) Wuebker.
            Surviving are cousins, including Marie Grothaus of Lima.
            She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.

Alfred J. Bohn
            Alfred J. (Fred) Bohn, 66, Defiance, died at 2:15 p.m. April 6 at his residence.
            He was born March 10, 1929, in Ft. Jennings to Joseph M. and Irma (Wieging) Bohn. On Jan. 9, 1951, he married Sally Smith, and she survives.
            Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Toby (Donna) Sadelson and Mrs. Randy (Becky) Sauber of Defiance; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Illa) Honigford of Lima; and five grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Bohn.
            He was a realtor at Yoder Realty in Defiance, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Defiance.

Clarence J. Giesken
            Clarence J. Giesken, 71, Landeck, died at 11:31 p.m. April 16 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
            He was born April 23, 1923, in Louisiana to John and Rosa (Schlagbaum) Giesken.
            Surviving are three brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Clara Giesken, Julius Giesken and Ambrose Giesken of Delphos; a sister Emma Schwinnen of Venedocia; and several nieces and nephews.
            He was preceded in death by five brothers, William Gieskan, Norbert Giesken, Alvey Giesken, Joseph Giesken and Harry Giesken; and three sisters, Wilma Luebrecht, Rosemary Niemeyer, and Mary Francis Giesken.
            He was retired from U. S. Metalcraft, where he had worked 10 years. Prior to that he was employed as a foreman at U. S. Fiber, where he worked 15 years.
            He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck, and the Delphos Knights of Columbus 1362.
            Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Rev. John Fleck officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Landeck.

Edith A. Reynolds
            Edith A. Reynolds, 75, Kalida, died 2:52 p.m. May 4 at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            She was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Ottoville to John and Jeanne (Rigdon) Carder. On November 23, 1940, she married Thomas B. Reynolds, and he survives.
            Also surviving are a son, Thomas Reynolds of Kalida; a daughter, Mrs. John (Nancy) Vetter of Ottoville; a sister, Mrs. Art (Leota) Munoz of Crystal River, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Carder.
            She retired from the Black Angus Restaurant in Kalida after 20 years of service.
            Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Ottawa, the, Rev. Kenneth Martin officiating. Burial will be in Union Township Cemetery, Kalida.

Richard A. Wannemacher
            Mass of Christian Burial for Richard A. Wannemacher, 78, Defiance, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Defiance, the Rev. Edward Schleter officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance County.
            He died May 15 at Defiance Hospital.
            He was born November 27, 1916, in Ottoville to Sylvester and Regina (Wurst) Wannemacher. On October 14, 1950, he married Mary Wurst, and she survives.
            Also surviving are two sons, Joseph Wannemacher of Defiance and Charles Wannemacher of Holgate; two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Linda) Gould of Mountain View, Calif., and Mrs. Bob (Barb) Moore of Defiance; three brothers, Earl Wannemacher of Ottoville, Norval Wannemacher of Lima, and Robert Wannemacher of Columbus; four sisters, Pricilla Wannemacher of Ottoville, Alice Maag of Ft. Jennings, Mrs. Bob (Rita) Eickholt and Mrs. L. T. (Jean) Leonard of Columbus; and 12 grandchildren.
            He retired in 1980 from General Motors Central Foundry in Defiance, where he had worked since 1950 in the core room department.
            He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Ottoville High School and was a World War II Army veteran and served over seas.
            Friends may call 2-9 p.m. today in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 South Clinton St., Defiance, where vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m.

James Gerker                       
            Memorial services for James Gerker, 32, formerly of Lima, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
            He died June 3 at his residence in Los Angeles.
            He was born August 21, 1962, in Lima to Urban and Clara (Verhoff) Gerker. His mother survives near Ottoville.
            Also surviving are four brothers, Gerald Gerker of Columbus, Michael Gerker and Daniel Gerker of Ottoville and Mark Gerker of Delphos; and three sisters, Anita Flanagan of Delphos, Mary Ann Schmit of Grove City and Doris Ann Gerker of Toledo.
            Mr. Gerker was a contract administrator for the department of defense. He was a graduate of Ottoville High Scholl and Bowling Green State University.
            There is no visitation.

Emma M. Dibling
            Emma Mary Dibling, 90, formerly of Ottoville and Carey, died 1:25 p.m. June 21 in Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
            She was born February 12, 1905, in Ottoville to Michael and Elizabeth (Eickholt) Miller. She married Anthony J. Dibling on July 1, 1939. He died August 10, 1993.
            Survivors include two sons, Anthony A. Dibling of Batavia, Ill., and Joseph Dibling of Tiffin; three daughters, Madonna Dibling of Columbus, Mrs. Jan (Mary) Hill of McComb and Mrs. James (Dolores) Holdgreve of Kenton; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by four brothers, Urban, Albert, Paul and Victor Miller; and three sisters, Elnora Ricker, Rosa Miller, and Gertrude Schwab.
            Mrs. Dibling was a graduate of St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1927. She did private duty nursing at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Wyandot County Red Cross. She helped at the first aid station for the yearly pilgrimage at Our Lady of Consolation, Carey. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society and the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation.
            Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, the Rev. Alfred Sartor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carey.
            Friends may call 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, 226 west Findlay St., Carey, where a scripture service will be at held at 7 p.m.

            Ralph A. Koester, 59, of Ottoville, died 2:05 p.m. July 17 at his residence.
            He was born July 14, 1936, in Ottoville to Anthony and Nellie (Gruelich) Koester. He married Margaret Utrup on June 1, 1957 in Monroe, Mich.
            Survivors include one son, Ralph (Jo Ann) Koester of Ottoville; four daughters, Donna (Tony) Fischer of Delphos, Karen (Ron) Bickle of Ohio City, Diane (Robert) Ditto of Englewood and Jeanne (Steve) Miller of Landeck; one brother James Koester of Delphos; two sisters, Connie Koester of Ft. Wayne Ind., and Betty Altenburger of Ottoville; and 11 grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by one son, Jody Koester, and two daughters, Kathleen and Nellie Koester; and one brother, Thomas Koester.
            Mr. Koester was a maintenance journeyman for Philips Display Components in Ottawa for 42 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Philips Quarter Century Club, Delphos Country Club and Delphos Eagles.
            Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Sylvan Obergefell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

            Mr. Looser died at 10:43 a.m. Thursday in Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale.
            He was born September 26, 1922, in Ottoville to Steve and Adeline (Meihls) Looser. He married Dorothy D. Brenner on July 18, 1945, in Delphos. She died March 15, 1991.
            Survivors include three sons, Thomas (Vicki) Looser, James (Judy) Looser, David (Connie) Looser all of Ottoville; two daughters, Mrs. Guy (Linda) Miller of Ottoville and Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Foley of Elida; one brother, John Looser of Middle Point; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Hoffman of Columbus Grove, Mrs. Elinor Swint of Ottoville, Mrs. Marjorie Dunlap of Ottoville, and Mrs. Milton (Joanne) Nichols of Ft. Jennings; and 15 grandchildren.
            Mr. Looser retired after 45 years as owner of Looser Shell, Ottoville. He served 10 years on the Ottoville Village Council. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Ottoville VFW Post 3740. He was a World War II veteran.

Paul J. Rayman
            Paul John Rayman, 70, of Ottoville, died 6:05 p.m. August 30 at his residence in rural Ottoville.
            He was born October 7, 1924, in Cloverdale to John and Lucy (Schimmoeller) Rayman. He married Mildred Pothast on October 1, 1949 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck, and she survives in Ottoville.
            Other survivors include one son, Stephen J. (Dorothy) Rayman of Cloverdale; three brothers, Stanley Rayman of Vaughnsville, Robert Rayman of North Ridgeville and Eugene Rayman of Lima; one sister, Mary Rott of Delphos; and three grandchildren, Glen, Garrett and Gayle Rayman of Cloverdale.
            He was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Rayman, and one sister Maxine Crowe.
            Mr. Rayman was a farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Holy Name Society.

            He died September 1 in Pueblo, Colorado.
            He was born January 22, 1964, in Lima to Lawrence and Fredonna (Horstman) Eickholt. His mother survives in Ottoville.
            Survivors include three brothers, John (Vivian) Eickholt, of Pueblo Colorado, Roger (Debra) Eickholt of Lima, and Gary Eickholt of Defiance; two sisters, Marie (John) Grote and Cathy (Ralph) Burgei of Ottoville.
            Mr. Eickholt was a brick mason. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
            He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, James Eickholt.

Virginia Martin
            Virginia Martin, 62, of Lima, formerly of Ottoville, died at 4 p.m. September 3 at her residence.
            She was born February 2, 1933, in Lima to James Bernard and Helen (Donehoo) Walsh Sr. She married Leroy “Pep” Martin on August 20, 1955, in Lima. He died October 8, 1991.
            Survivors include two sons, Blaine (Amy) Martin and Dale (Susan) Martin of Ottoville; six brothers, James Walsh Jr. of North Canton, Thomas Walsh of Dexter, Mich., William Walsh of Adrian, Mich., and Richard, Daniel and Joseph Walsh of Lima; three sisters, Mary Margaret Dupes and Jean Young of Lima and Frankie (J.B.) Gass of Nashville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Christie, Kevin, Kyle and McKenzie Martin of Ottoville.
            She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Larry Walsh.
            Mrs. Martin retired after 20 years with Aeroquip, Van Wert. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740 Auxiliary.

            Irene K. Wannemacher, 76, of 802 Carolyn Dr. died at 12:10 p.m. September 17 at her residence.
            She was born June 27, 1919, in Ottoville to Albert C. and Bertha S. (Biedenharn) Wannemacher. She never married.
            She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Kleman of Ft. Jennings and Mrs. Ron (Sharon) Seibert of Vandalia, two nieces; five nephews; and 15 great nieces and nephews.
            She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Wannemacher, who died in 1990.
            She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a member of Del-Otto Card Club.
            On February 4, 1969 she donated a kidney to her sister Ruth Kleman.
            Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

1994 Woman of the Year dies

            Mary A. Weber, 87, of Ottoville, the 1994 Delphos Herald Woman of the Year, died 2:36 a.m. Sept. 18 in Van Wert County Hospital.
            She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, its Alter Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
            Mrs. Weber was born Dec. 14, 1907, in Ottoville to John and Anna (Eberle) Honigford. She married Frank X. Weber June 12, 1929, in Ottoville. He died Jan. 23, 1991.
            She is survived by seven sons, Gene (Eilleen) Weber of Coldwater, Donald (Audrey) Weber of Estes Park, Colo., Art (Connie) Weber of Ft. Wayne, Leonard J. (Margie) Weber of Detroit, Mich., Ken (Bettie) Weber of Greenville; Larry (Fran) Weber of Barnum, Minn., and Rev. Herb Weber of Mansfield; six daughters, Mrs. Mike (Mildred) Rahrig of Delphos, Sister Helen Weber CPPS of Denver Colo., Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Fuchs of Brandon, Fla., Mrs. Roger (Celeste) Geise of Delphos, Mrs. Jim (Dollie) Spieles of Wauseon, and Mrs. Vern (Judy) Fischer of Delphos; one sister, Mrs. Otto (Sabina) Miller of Kalida; and one sister-in-law, Ethel Honigford of Lima; 39 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Joseph, Clem, Gilbert, and Bernard Honigford.

            Anna Lucy Dickman, 85, of Ottoville died at 5:38 p.m. September 20 in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Care Center, Bluffton.
            She was born August 23, 1910, in Ottoville to William and Philomena (Wehri) Dickman. She never married.
            Survivors include a brother, Edmund Dickman of Six Lakes, Mich.; three sisters, Agnes Moegenborg of Alma, Mich., Hildegard Schnipke of Deleware and Dolores Eickholt of Ottawa; many nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
            She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert, Ferdinand and Philip Dickman; two sisters, Irene Dickman and Alice Wueller Kemper; and a nephew, Leonard Moeggenborg, who was killed in the Vietnam War.
            Miss Dickman was a housekeeper in the area. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Alter Rosary Society. She was a member of Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740 Auxiliary and a volunteer at Paradise Oaks nursing Center, Cloverdale.

Leo Utrup
            Funeral mass for Brother Leo Utrup, C.PP.S., 63, of Carthegena, was held at 2 p.m. today in St. Charles Seminary, Carthegena, the Rev. Ken Plieman officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery.
            He died in the afternoon October 6, in Gethsemani, Kentucky.
            He was born January 6, 1932, in Ottoville to Albert and Veronica (Krietemeyer) Utrup.
            Survivors include a brother, Harold Utrup of Ottawa; and two sisters, Dorothy Kleman of Ottawa and Alberta Utrup of Cincinnati.
            He was a Brother in the Order of the Precious Blood. He was accepted into the order on July 2, 1952, in Carthegena. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Wapakoneta Knights of Columbus, was active in Right to Life and did pastoral ministry throughout his career.
            He worked as a general handyman at several Precious Blood facilities, including the Generalate of the Society of the Precious Blood in Rome 1959-65. At the time of his death he had been working in the infirmary at St. Charles Seminary, Carthegena. He also belonged to the Precious Blood Companion Group.
            Arrangements were by Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
            Preferred memorials are to the Priests Retirement Fund in care of St. Charles Seminary.

Elmer H. Hilvers
            Elmer H. Hilvers, 72, of Leipsic died at 1:07 p.m. October 7, at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Ottawa.
            He was born September 16, 1923, in Ottoville to Alex and Clara (Kracht) Hilvers. On January 5, 1946, he married Eva Rose Roesner, who survives in Leipsic.
            Also surviving are a son, Larry Dean (Renecca) Hilvers of Napoleon; three daughters, Dixie Lee (David) Lopez of Fairfax, Va., Peggi Ann (Victor) Belz of Honolulu and Rose Marie (Kevin) Wilkinson of Fredricksburg, Va.; three brothers, Ralph of Leipsic, Alfred of Delphos and Leonard of Ottoville; a sister Dolores Montooth of Leipsic; and 11 grandchildren.
            Mr. Hilvers owned and operated Hilvers Jewlers in Leipsic, which opened in 1947. He was a retired jewler who graduated from the Kansas City School of Watchmaking. He was a member of the Ohio Watchmakers for 30 years, serving as vice president and treasurer and on the board of directors.
            He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic, its Holy Name Society and served on the parish council. He was U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, a charter member of Leipsic Veterans of Foreign Wars, a life member of Leipsic American Legion, and a member of Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Leipsic Eagles.
            He was a 20-year volunteer firefighter with the Leipsic Fire Department, a former Leipsic Councilman, served on Leipsic Board of Public Affairs and was chairman of the Leipsic Retail Merchants, president of Leipsic Enterprise Co., and treasurer of Leipsic Chamber of Commerce.
            A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rev. John Joseph officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by Leipsic VFW and American Legion.

            She was born January 22, 1918, in Van Wert County to Joseph and Petronella (Wellman) Pohlman. She married Ambrose D. Ricker on November 14, 1945, in Delphos. He preceded her in death.
            Survivors include four sons, Dennis G. (Karen) Ricker, Marvin J. (Marjorie) Ricker and Steven D. (Mary) Ricker all of Ottoville and Dan J. Ricker of Van Wert; one brother Irvin Pohlman of Delphos; and nine grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Ralph, Hubert, and Hilary Pohlman; and one sister, Bertha Lindeman, preceded her in death.

            John F. Metz, 76, of Lima, died at 7:45 a.m. October 24, in Delphos Memorial Home.
            He was born March 12, 1919, in Ravenna to Clements and Catherine (Krebs) Metz. He married Agatha E. Rayman on July 24, 1940. She died July 10, 1993.
            Surviving are four daughters, Judy (Allyn) Wiechart of Statesville, N.C., Kathy (Tony) O’Brien of Lima, Nancy (John) Brinkman of Delphos and Patricia Elam of Lima; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
            Mr. Metz was a retired tool crib attendant at Hanson Tool in Toledo. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.

            She was born July 1, 1940, in Lima to Alva and Arlene (Wright) Liston. She married Kenneth Kroeger on November 22, 1962. He survives in Ottoville.
            Also surviving are two sons, Stephen J. Kroeger of Clarksville, Ind., and Paul Kroeger of Ottoville; four daughters, Theresa (Darrell) Von Sossan of Worthington, Ann (Jim) McConnell of Lambertville, Mich., and Karla Kroeger and Manda Kroeger of Ottoville; of half-brother, Michael Keltner of Italy; and five grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Liston and Alva Liston.
            Mrs. Kroeger was a retired fourth grade teacher at Ottoville Elementary School where she taught since 1969.
            She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Alter Rosary Society and a religion instructor. She was a member of the National Education Association.

            She died at 5 a.m. on November 26 at her residence.
            She was born January 4, 1919, in Putnam County to Theodore and Dorthea (Meyer) Maag. She married Jim Niedecken on June 28, 1943. He died September 9, 1988.
            Surviving are one son, Jim (Janet) Niedecken of Ottoville; one daughter, Stephenaie (Larry) Heitmeyer of Ottoville; two brothers, Cyril Maag and Bob Maag of Toledo; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Heitmeyer, Jodi Niedecken Miehls and Joe Niedecken of Ottoville.
            Two brothers, Clarence and Ted, and five sisters, Mary, Ida, Genevieve, Esther and Dorothy, preceded her in death.
            Mrs. Niedecken was a licensed insurance agent and former partner in the Niedecken Insurance Agency of Ottoville and later her son’s business.
            She formerly worked in the Niedecken Photography Studio and had collected a pictorial history of Ottoville and early Putnam County families. She also supplied many pictures for the 1995 Ottoville Sesquicentennial.

Edwin L. Wannemacher
            Edwin L. Wannemacher, 102, died at 7 p.m. November 28 in Paradise Oaks Nursing Center, Cloverdale.
            He was honored during the Ottoville Sesquicentennial celebrations in September as the oldest resident, who at that time resided on U. S. 224 west of Ottoville.
            He was also honored at that time as being the only living member of the Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740 who served in World War I.
            When he was a child the Miami-Erie Canal was built and in use.
            He was born February 4, 1893, in Ottoville to Henry and Emma (Kalt) Wannemacher. He married Mary A. Grothaus on May 18, 1920. She died April 8, 1982.
            Surviving are two daughters, Lillian (William) Looser of Delphos and Pat (Orley) Matson of Cloverdale; one brother, Otmer Wannemacher of Delphos; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters and two great-grandchildren.
            Mr. Wannemacher was a retired farmer. He was a World War I U. S. Army veteran, a member of Ottoville VFW Post 3740 and the Ottoville Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society.

            She died at 10:40 p.m. December 1 in St. Rita’s Medical Center.
            She was born October 30, 1904, in Ottoville to George and Mary (Yocklin) Miller. On June 7, 1927, she married Arnold M. Liebrecht, who died October 29, 1972.
            Survivors include a son, Arnold B. (Agnes) Liebrecht of Delphos; a stepbrother, William Yocklin of Florida; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren one step-great-grandson; and one step-great-granddaughter.
            She was preceded in death by six brothers, Albert Miller, Henry Miller, Joseph Miller, Adolph Miller, George Miller, and Anthony Miller.
            Mrs. Liebrecht was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and the Alter Rosary Society. She was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos.

            He was born May 30, 1925, in Ottoville, to William and Emma (Millenbaugh) Ostendorf. He married LaDonna Gasser on November 30, 1950, and she survives in Ft. Jennings.
            Other survivors include two sons, Stephen (Becky) and Daniel (Carolyn), both of Delphos; three daughters, Rebecca Scarbrough, Columbus, Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Hunsaker, Pueblo, CO, and Mrs. Steve (Brenda) Pohlman, Perrysburg; 11 grandchildren; on great-grandchild; three brothers, Walter Ostendorf, Delphos, Arthur Ostendorf, Fort Meyers Beach FL., and Paul Ostendorf, Indianapolis, IN.; two sisters, Helen Lause, St. Clair Shores, MI., and Eleanor Pockey, Roseville, MI.
            Mr. Ostendorf retired from Clark Equipment, Lima. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings, American Legion Post #715, Fort Jennings, and was past commander and a retired member of Fort Jennings Volunteer Fire Department, former Town Council member, former board member of Fort Jennings Telephone Company, and World War II Marine Veteran.
            Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. Fr. Michael Schelling will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites by Ft. Jennings American Legion.
            Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. An American Legion memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by the parish prayer service at 8 p.m.
