Tom J. Looser
            Tom J. Looser, 57, of Napoleon died 3:32 am Sunday, January 4, 2009 at his residence.
He was born October 9, 1951 in Lima to Lavern and Evelyn (Nartker) Looser. His parents survive in Ottoville. Also surviving is a fiancée: Brenda Taner of Paulding; 5 children: Gina (Jeff) Geise of Cloverdale, Brian (Tracy) Looser of Kalida, Amber Looser of Napoleon, Jennifer (Tony) Quartana of Ottoville and Josh Looser of Ottoville; 6 grandchildren: Ethan, Jocie and Brayden Geise, Haley and Caden Looser and Nicholas Quartana; 1 brother: Randy Looser of Arlington, TX., 3 sisters: Deb (Kevin) Bockrath of Chillicothe, Karen (Don) Ellerbrock of Ottoville and Lori (Rodney) Niemeyer of Ottoville. He had been married to Jacquelin Maas and they were divorced.
Mr. Looser worked at General Motors in Defiance for 38 years. He was a member of the Eagles.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 am Thursday, January 8, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. John Stites officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township (at the corner of St. Rts. 224 & 634).

Doris A. Honigfort
              Doris A. Honigfort, 74 of Ottawa died 10:57 am Friday, January 09, 2009 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
              She was born June 1, 1934 in Lima to the late Edmund and Martha (Turnwald) Schimmoeller. On July 14, 1956, she married Henry “Hank” Honigfort and he survives in Ottawa.
              Also surviving are 8 children: Brenda (Allan) Ball of Ottawa, Beckie Niese of Ottawa, Barb (Duane) Lord of Marysville, Beth (Oscar) Hinojosa of Jacksonville, Fl., Beverly (Kevin) Heckman of Glandorf, Chuck (Mary) Honigfort of St. Louis, Mo., Bonnie Johnston of Columbus Grove and Belinda Honigfort of Columbus; 19 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Art (Delores) Schimmoeller of Ottoville, Gene (Helen) Schimmoeller of Ottoville, Roger (Cathy) Schimmoeller of Ottoville; 2 sisters: Mary Lou (Dave) Stechschulte of Columbus Grove, Ruth Lucke of Fort Jennings.
Mrs. Honigfort retired as office manager for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services in Ottawa. She had formerly worked at Philips in Ottawa. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia, the O-G Band Boosters, a volunteer at Putnam Acres, host family to four Japanese friends, graduate of Ottoville High School where she was a cheerleader and member of the band; she enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. Doris loved following her children’s and grandchildren’s sports and band activities.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Alfons Minja officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will be held at 2:30 pm and CLC rosary at 7:00 pm.

Jean Brookman
Jean Brookman, 72, died at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 21, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1936, in Cloverdale to Leonard and Verena Brinkman Martin, who preceded her in death. On April 11 1959, she married John C. Brookman, who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Brookman was a homemaker and had assisted with the family painting business. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and volunteer and had been a member of its Altar Rosary Society where she had served as president. She was a member of LaSertoma, where she had served as president, she was the Sertoma woman of the year twice. She was also a member of ALCO Sertoma. She was a graduate of Fort Jennings High School. She enjoyed crafts, was a huge animal lover, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors also include two sons, Timothy (Theresa) Brookman, of New Knoxville, and Dale (Lori) Brookman, of Elida; two daughters, Cheryl (Theodore) Kaser, of Lima, and Tina (Bill) Mrukowski, of Hilliard; nine grandchildren, Nathan Kaser, Gene Kaser, Kate Kaser, Marissa Mrukowski, Daniel Brookman, Stephanie Brookman Gross, of Lima, Nicholas Brookman, Kane Brookman and Trevor Brookman; two sisters, Dolly (Dan) Blankemeyer, of Columbus Grove, and Lenore (Don) Schroeder, of Leipsic; and a brother-in-law, Willie Huffman.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Huffman and Middy (Tom) Stechschulte; and a brother, Donald Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m.

Lucinda A. Langhals
Lucinda A. Langhals, 92, of Ottoville, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at her residence. She was born February 16, 1917 in Ottoville to the late William and Rosa (Beining) Koester. On April 19, 1941, she married Norbert F. Langhals and he died August 28, 1990.
Survivors include 2 sons, Ronald (Sandy) Langhals of Toledo and James (Linda) Langhals of Glandorf; a daughter, Sister Joyce Langhals C.PP.S. of Troy; 3 grandchildren: Bridgette Dempsey, Nicholas Langhals and Emily Langhals; and a great-grandson: Adam Dempsey; a brother, Celestine ”Dick” Koester of Shepherd, MI; and a sister Rosemary (Elmer) Markward of Ottoville.         
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Richard “Rich” Koester, Ambrose “Bud” Koester and Hilarius “Red” Koester; and a sister, Alberta “Bert” Weber.            
Mrs. Langhals retired from the Cloverdale United States Postal Service. She also worked at the Cloverdale Hardware and operated Cindy’s Ceramics. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Rosary Altar Society.
A mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 am Friday, March 20, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday and 2 to 8 pm on Thursday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Twp. Esther C. Eggeman
             Esther C. Eggeman, 100, died 9:40 am, Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf, Ottawa. She was born April 7, 1908 in Ft. Jennings to the late George and Catherine (Honigford) Wallenhorst. On November 28, 1928 she married Gregory Eggeman. He died July 14, 1985.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Eggeman of Delphos; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Thelma Beckman of California and Helen Chandler of Ft. Jennings and a sister-in-law, Sally Wallenhorst of Middle Point.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and John “Dag” Herman; a daughter-in-law, Donna Eggeman; a grandson, Rick Eggeman; 3 brothers: Gilbert Wallenhorst, Wilbur Wallenhorst and Albert Wallenhorst; and 2 sisters: Sister Valeta Wallenhorst and Alice Snyder.
Mrs. Eggeman worked in a factory, and also worked as a cook and waitress. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Rosary Altar Society and Women’s Auxiliary. Enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, baking and playing cards. She was also a wonderful cook.
A mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Thomas T. Byrne
            Thomas “Tom” T. Byrne, 83, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of Delphos, died at 10:30 p.m. March 18, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
            He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Ottoville, to Joseph and Hilda Van Oss Byrne, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 11, 1945, he married Regina “Ginny” L. Rayman, who died Jan. 12, 2006.
            Mr. Byrne was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed trapping, golfing, fishing and baseball. He was an Atlanta Braves fan and was a self-taught musician. He was a 1943 graduate of Ottoville High School, where he was the captain of his high school basketball team. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a licensed cosmetologist and welder who worked at several different companies in the area. He and his wife, Ginny, owned and operated beauty shops in Delphos, Van Wert, Ottoville and Defiance, including Mr. Byrne’s Wig Center. He was a master wood craftsman and enjoyed the outdoors.
            Survivors include a son, F. Joseph “Jody” (Tracey) Byrne, of Brockway, Pa.; a daughter, Dianna (Mike) Ireton, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Walter (Peggy) Byrne, of Delphos; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
            He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Joseph Thomas; and a grandson, Stephen Byrne.
            A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Jean A. Leonard
             Jean A. Leonard, age 82, passed away on Monday at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
             She was born and grew up in Ottoville.
             She had been married to L.T. Leonard, who preceded her in death.
             Mrs. Leonard was retired from the Department of Defense (DCSC) as an executive secretary. She was an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharist Minister, member of the Bereavement Committee and 50 + Club.  She and her husband made wine together and provided it for daily Mass for many years. She was also an active member of the Fun Club, a talented painter and artist, expert gardener and wine maker. She is known for being a loving and compassionate mother who had an endless supply of energy.
            Survivors include a son, Scott Leonard; daughters Sharon Bornstein and Tracey Leonard (Lawrence) Bell; grandchildren, Cori (Bob) McGrath, Alanna and Carly Bornstein; great grandchildren, Shaye and Molly; and siblings, Rita Eickholt, Alice Maag, Norval and Priscilla and Robert Wannemacher.
             She was preceded in death by her husband, L.T. Leonard; son, Thomas Leonard; and brothers Earl and Richard Wannamacher.
             Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 434 Norton Road, Columbus, OH  43228.

Thelma T. Bendele
             Thelma T. Bendele, 92, died at 4:30 a.m. April 14, 2009, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
             She was born April 10, 1917, in Delphos to Joseph and Laura Gable Baumgarte, who preceded her in death. On May 18, 1946, she married Hubert Bendele, who died Oct. 1, 1997.
             Mrs. Bendele was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. She loved playing bingo and cards and enjoyed crocheting.
             Survivors include five sons, Kenny (Diane) Bendele, Jerome (Carol) Bendele, Dennis (Donna) Bendele and Dale (Lisa) Bendele, all of Ottoville, and Donald Bendele, of Defiance; a daughter, Kathy (Dave) Hoersten, of Ottoville; and 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
             She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Craig Hoersten and Nathan Bendele; her twin brother, Cletus Baumgarte; and a sister, Lillian Bohnlein.

Elinor Kimmet
             Elinor Kimmet, 87, died at 5 a.m. April 17, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
             She was born Nov. 20, 1921, in Putnam County to Henry and Mary Sanders Beining, who preceded her in death. On June 9, 1948, she married Eugene Kimmet, who died Nov. 1, 1996.
             Mrs. Kimmet was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and was known for her fun-loving spirit. She enjoyed her summers at the lake and loved being with her family and friends. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos.
             Survivors include a son, David Kimmet, of Glandorf; five daughters, Connie Wilcox, of Delphos, Becky Plumpe, of Springfield, Mo., Mary (Jerry) Hanneman, of Glandorf, Kathy (Dennis) Bockey, of Delphos, and Karen (Brian) Ragan, of Woodville; three brothers, John (Mary Lou) Beining, Adolph (Mildred) Beining and Oscar (Rita) Beining, all of Ottoville; and 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by four sisters, Marcella Beining, Bertha Kimmet, Martha Noonan and Veronica Hilvers; a brother, Melvin Beining; and a daughter-in-law, Susie Kimmet.

Felicitas P. Kill
             Felicitas P. “Woody” Kill, 84, died at 6:39 p.m. April 20, 2009, at The Cleveland Clinic.
             She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Ottoville to Frank and Catherine Burgei Gasser, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 4, 1951, she married John R. Kill, who died Oct. 22, 2002.
             Mrs. Kill was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 Auxiliary, Delphos. She enjoyed bowling.
             Survivors include five sons, Jack (Joan) Kill, of Norcross, Ga., Gary (Diane) Kill, of Van Wert, and Ken (Mary Jo) Kill, Dave (Diane) Kill and Ron (Deb) Kill, all of Delphos; a daughter, Diane (Ted) Wells, of Delphos; a sister, Marie (Bernard) Gerdeman, of Ottoville; five sisters-in-law, Helen Clementz, Lucille Gasser, Nancy Gasser, Rita (Ollie) Sever and Pauline Kill; and 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Edwin, Carl, Joseph, Arnold, Jerome, Eugene and Frank Gasser; and a sister, Barbara Kramer.

Rita C. Beining
            Rita C. Beining, 81, died at 2:20 p.m. April 21, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
            She was born July 26, 1927, in Lima to Catherine Sidle Day, who preceded her in death. She married Harold Lewis, who died in 1967. On Nov. 24, 1973, she married Oscar Beining, who survives in Delphos.
             Mrs. Beining was a retired secretary and teacher’s aide for Star Commonwealth School for Boys in Van Wert. She worked as the secretary at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, worked for Flexible Sewer Rod in Lima, and was a secretary for the principal at Edison Elementary School in Lima. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville. She loved to read and especially loved her cat, Punkin.
             Survivors also include a son, John (Mary) Lewis, of Lima; a daughter, Janet (Gary) Bennett, of Glendale, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
             She was preceded in death by a son, Mike Lewis; and a brother, Richard Day.
             Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville. The Rev. John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.

Elmer A. Horstman
              Elmer A. Horstman, 84, died at 10:40 a.m. April 22, 2009, at The Meadows of Kalida in Kalida.
              He was born June 11, 1924, in Ottoville to Joe T. and Louise “Lucy” Knippen Horstman, who preceded him in death. Aug. 21, 1945, he married Ruth Eickholt, who died Nov. 15, 1988. On June 20, 1992, he married Patricia Carter, who died Dec. 22, 2003.
              Mr. Horstman retired as a farmer and as a mechanic. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He enjoyed woodworking, polka dancing, softball, playing cards and spoiling his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
             Survivors include three sons, Ron (Janice) Horstman, of Ottawa, and Nick (Jane) Horstman and Dan (Lynn) Horstman, both of Ottoville; six daughters, Linda (Karl) Boecker and Joyce (Larry) Miller, both of Ottoville, Karen (Don) Schnipke, of Cloverdale, Nancy (Larry) Kroeger, of Landeck, Donna (Tom) Schimmoeller, of Ottoville and Janice (Mark) Bendele, of Kalida; a stepson, Ted (Marge) Carter, of Georgetown, Ky.; four stepdaughters, Carla (Jerry) Doner, Nancy (Charles) Darras and Rhonda (Larry) Gibson, all of Van Wert, and Brenda (Eric) Agler, of Hamilton; 39 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise (Robert) Miller and Viola (Jerome) Friemoth, both of Ottoville.
              He was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund Horstman; a sister, Fredona Eickholt; and a great-grandson.
               Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by VFW Post 3740.
               Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a VFW service will be held at 7 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m., both on Sunday.

Dr. Glen A. Gordon
Dr. Glen A. Gordon, 71, of Hansville, Wash., formerly of Ottoville, died the morning of April 29, 2009, doing what he loved, working in his garden at his residence.
He was born Aug. 2, 1937, in Ottawa to Glen A. and Kathryn H. Metz Gordon, who preceded him in death. His wife of 33 years, Connie Balmer Gordon, survives in Hansville, Wash.
Dr. Gordon retired in the mid 1990s from his practice in Tacoma, Wash., which focused on sports and industrial medicine. He had worked in pathology at the National Institute of Health, Bangor, Wash., before going to Silverdale, Wash, where he had a busy family practice until the late 1970s. There he built a multi-physician facility and the first ambulatory surgical center in the state of Washington. He spent the last 20 years in research and development of electromagnetic technology, for which he held several patents. During his career, he took several humanitarian trips to Central America. He was a 1955 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School, Delphos, and a graduate of the University of Dayton. He received his medical degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. His passing has left us sad, but he was with us so much longer than anyone expected. Life with him was always an adventure. He did it his way.
Survivors also include six children, Debra (Chuck Turner) Gordon, of Tucson, Ariz., Scott (Nori) Gordon, of West Linn, Ore., Michelle Gordon and Jarrett (Sunshine) Gordon, both of Seattle, Tom (Nicole) Gordon, of Bellingham, Wash., and Methia Gordon, of Kingston, Wash.; six grandchildren, Indigo, Mayana, Brendan, Liam and Jaxon Gordon and Miles Gordon Still; two brothers, Tom (Leann) Gordon, of Convoy, and Robert “Bob” Gordon, of Bremerton, Wash.; his former wife, Ruth Fries Kimmel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Glen Gordon; a brother, Donald Gordon; and two sisters, Carol McNamara and Joan Vorst Bleim.
There will be no services. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.

Connie L. Hoersten
             Connie L. Hoersten, 60, died at 4:30 a.m. May 3, 2009, at her residence. She was born July 7, 1948, in Lima to Arthur and Mary Ricker Grothouse, who survive in Delphos. On Aug. 27, 1971, she married Harold Hoersten, who survives in Ottoville.
             Mrs. Hoersten was a receptionist for Ottoville Mutual Telephone Co./OTEC for 22 years and had been an administrator for Central Mutual Insurance Co., Van Wert. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed her grandchildren, scrapbooking and weekend bus excursions.
             Survivors also include three sons, Todd (Barb) Hoersten, Scott (Krista) Hoersten, and Michael Hoersten, all of Ottoville; two brothers, Tim (Carla) Grothouse and Dan Grothouse, both of Delphos; a brother-in-law, Clete (Carol) Hoersten, of Delphos; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Hoersten, of Ottoville, Marilyn Girod, of Delphos, and Mary Ann Hoersten, of Kalida; and five grandchildren, Haley, Kylee, Jeremy, Madison and Morgan.
            She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Eugene Hoersten and Wayne Girod.

Eugene J. Fischbach
            Eugene J. Fischbach, 86, died at 2:30 a.m. May 18, 2009, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
            He was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Ottoville to Peter F. and Verona Becker Fischbach, who preceded him in death. On July 6, 1949, he married Dolores A. Omlor, who died in October 2003.
            His companion, Barbara Jackson, survives in Palm Springs, Fla.
            Mr. Fischbach had been the Ottawa chief of police from 1972 to 1985 and with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department from 1954 to 1992. He had also been a farmer, worked at Klima’s Stockyard, Ottoville, and drove a milk route. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1362, Delphos, and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, Delphos, and American Legion Post 63, Ottawa. He had served as president of the board for the Delphos Senior Citizens, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce and the Putnam County Agronomy. He had served on the Van Wert County Community Action Commission. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was awarded five Bronze Stars.
                Survivors also include a son, Richard (Amy) Fischbach, of Powell; six daughters, Marcia (C. Ogden) Green, of Thousand Palms, Calif., Sandra Williams, of Sidney, Ann (James W.) Schaffner and Anita (Ken) Hesseling, both of Delphos, Karen (Joseph) Duffy, of Westerville, and Judith (Martin) Genesky, of Alpharetta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Gerald (Martha) Fischbach, of Fort Jennings, James (Mary Rita) Fischbach, of Pandora, and Victor (Sharon) Fischbach, of Ottoville.
            He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Alice Fischbach; and a sister Mary Alice Fischbach.
            Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by the Delphos Veterans Council and American Legion Post 63 and VFW Post 9142.

Donald C. Miller
            Donald Cletus Miller, 71, died at 2:53 p.m. May 27, 2009, at his residence. He was born April 5, 1938, in Ottoville to Isidore and Florence Deitering Miller, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 1, 1962, he married Mary M. Brinkman, who survives in Ottoville.
            Mr. Miller retired in 1994 as an inspector for Ford Motor Company, Lima. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a National Guard veteran and a member of the UAW Local 1219 Retirees.
                Survivors also include two sons, Jerry (Shanda) Miller, of Elida, and Mike (Vicki) Miller, of Shawnee; two daughters, Donna (Dan) Lindeman and Joyce (Harry) Ricker, both of Delphos; three brothers, Dennis (Betty) Miller and Isidore “Ike” Miller, both of Ottoville, and Robert Miller, of Middle Point; four sisters, Sister Mary Louisa Miller, of Chile; Diane (Tom) Meyer, of Columbus Grove, and Kathy (Art) Hoehn and Lorna Miller, both of Ottoville; eight grandchildren, Dana, David, Derek and Devin Lindeman, Harry Ricker III, and Morgan, Sophia and Olivia Miller; and a step-grandchild, Madison Bremer.
            He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Cherie Miller.

Karen D. Little
Karen D. Little, 50, of Vancouver, Wash., and formerly of Ottoville, died Sunday at Ray-Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.
She was born May 7, 1959, to Jerome and Phyllis Turnwald. Her father preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Benjamin (Corey) Little of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Alexis (Mike Mee) Little of Vancouver; three sisters, Kathy (Larry) Warniment of Sylvania, Linda (Terry) Myers of Arlington and Diane (Clint) Gable of Delphos; three brothers, Jerry (Ann) Turnwald and Mike (Tammi Pawlak) Turnwald of Ottoville and Tim (Julie) Turnwald of Lorain; and two grandchildren, Anthony and Madison.
Ms. Little was an Ottoville High School and University of Phoenix graduate. She previously worked at the John Sigler Co., Lima, CSK Auto in Phoenix and the Columbia Sportswear Company.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.

Margaret R. Dardio
             Margaret R. “Margene” Dardio, 74, died at 6:45 a.m. June 17, 2009, at her residence.
            She was born June 12, 1935, in Ottoville to Leo A. and Regina Gergen Hoehn, who preceded her in death. On May 25, 1957, she married Richard Dardio, who survives in Elida.
             Mrs. Dardio was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, and was an avid Bengals and Reds fan. She loved her family and enjoyed being around people. She loved her guardian and buddy, her dog Molly.
                Survivors also include two sons, Mark Dardio, of Elida, and Brett (Leanne) Dardio, of Lima; a daughter, Lisa (Roger) Briem, of Lima; four brothers, Norbert Hoehn, Jerome Hoehn, Hubert “Butch” Hoehn, and Kenneth Hoehn; a sister, Marianne Hoehn; and six grandchildren, Brittany Klingler, Travis Klingler, Alex Dardio, Brandon Dardio, Cole Dardio and Lauren Dardio.
             She was preceded in the death by a brother, Laverne “Bud” Hoehn, and two sisters, Ruth Prangle and Dolores “Dolly” Ibbitson.
                Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Joey Poulani will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.
            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Friday.

John A. Weber
John Anthony Weber, 81, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of Ottoville, died July 13, 2009, at Country Meadows Nursing Home. He was born July 14, 1928, in Ottoville to Mayme and Ludwig Weber, who preceded him in death. In 1953, he married Patsy J. “Pat” Conkle, a Lima native, who survives in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Mr. Weber worked part time at Bursleys Wholesale Grocers while attending Josepheum College, Columbus. He later returned to work full time in the store’s office, where he did payroll and collections. In 1960, his boss, Don Murphy, asked him to move to Fort Wayne, Ind., to join Food Marketing Corp., a newly formed division. He was director of merchandising during his career there. He was mentored by George McKay, whom he greatly admired. Food Marketing later became SuperValu, through a series of acquisitions. He retired after 51 years from SuperValu, the company he loved. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Survivors also include two daughters, Terri (Michael) Bruner and Carol (Richard) Sarasien; two sons, Joe (Rose) Weber and Russell (friend Dawn Greene) Weber; four grandchildren, Eric Weber, Justin (friend Megan) Weber, Amanda (Scott) Bryson and Kimberly Sarasien; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Rose, Ashlyn, Mason, Hannah II, Stanley and Stefan; three brothers, Stanley (Grace) Weber, James (Arleen) Weber and Louis (Ruth) Weber; a sister, Marie (George) Lubely; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Weber and Mary Kay (friend Tom Mulcahy) Smith; and a brother-inlaw, Virgil (Nancy) Hohlbein.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Weber; and a sister, Jo Ann Hohlbein.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, Ind. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.

Leona C. Fisher
            Leona C. Fisher, 82, died at 6:26 p.m. July 13, 2009, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Cloverdale to William and Clara Merschman Landwehr, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 23, 1946, she married William Fisher, who died Aug. 6, 1980.
Mrs. Fisher attended Ottoville School and graduated from Northwestern Business College, Lima. She worked at Powell Co., Lima, before moving to Delphos. In Delphos, she worked at Delphos Chevy, Sheeter Motor Sales, County Line Auto Wreckage and retired from the Delphos License Bureau, which was run by Ruth and John Sheeter. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 Auxiliary, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, American Legion Post 268 Auxiliary and the Delphos Senior Citizens, all in Delphos. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with her family and her beloved cat, Sylvester.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine (Paul) Kramer, of Fort Jennings, and Constance Askins, of Delphos; two sisters, Helen (Norman) Fleming, of Rockford, and Alice Youngpeter, of Delphos; a brother, Norbert L. Landwehr, of Mendon; three grandchildren, Tom (Michele) Kramer, of Mayfield Heights, and John (Julie) Kramer and Carrie Askins, both of Delphos; five great-grandchildren, Nickolas, Kecia, Deanna, Kelli and Kevin; and her special grandchild, Eugene Sadler, of Delphos.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Father Melvin Verhoff will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a VFW Auxiliary service will be held at 7 p.m. and a parish wake service at 8:30 p.m.

Jay Dee Phillips
Jay Dee Phillips, 57, died July 14, 2009, at his residence.
            He was born March 15, 1952, in Shelbyville, Ind., to Frank Junior and Thelma Jean Myers Phillips, who preceded him in death. On May 27, 1978, he married Brenda Chilacoto, who died July 27, 2001. On Sept. 14, 2002, he married Sheryl Miller, who survives in Ottoville.
            Mr. Phillips was a concessionaire. He attended Delphos First Assembly Church, Delphos. He was a member of AMVETS in Middle Point. He enjoyed flowers and loved children.
Survivors include six stepchildren, Michael (Linnie) Bradfield, of Naples, Fla., Trina (Matt) Langdon and Jerad Bradfield, both of Van Wert, Jessica Bradfield, of Memphis, Tenn., Sarah Bradfield, of San Diego, and Jon Bradfield, of Ottoville; seven stepgrandchildren; five brothers, Barry Phillips, of Findlay, Travis (Debbie) Phillips, of Hattiesburg, Miss., Jeffery Dean (Marian) Phillips, of Wiggins, Miss., Todd Phillips, of Las Vegas, and Terry Phillips, of Cloverdale; and four sisters, Bonnie (Jerry) Walters, of West Liberty, Tonda (Jack) Ricker, of Fort Jennings, Rhonda (David) Spiese, of Napoleon, and Lana (Robert) Addis, of Antwerp.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township. Pastor Dan Eaton will officiate. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Ottoville.

Lucille L. Benton

            Lucille L. Benton, 84,of Leipsic died 3:30 pm Thursday, August 6, 2009 at The Meadows of Leipsic surrounded by her family.
            Mrs. Benton was born September 14, 1924 in Ottoville to the late Joseph and Lucy (Miller) Schmitt. On May 30, 1949 she married William Ross Benton who died August 5, 1998.
            She is survived by her 4 children: Beverly Siebeneck of Marysville, Cynthia (Tim) Grothause of Pandora, Alan (Cathy) Benton and Kevin (Lisa) Benton both of Leipsic; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister: Annabelle (Benjamin) Wortkoetter of Simsonville, NC; and a brother-in-law: Eugene Siefer of Leipsic.
               Preceding her in death was a son-in-law: Jim Siebeneck, a brother: Walter Schmitt, 2 sisters: Ruth Boecker and Lois Siefer, a brother-in-law: Henry Boecker, and a sister-in-law: Katherine Schmitt.
            Mrs. Benton was a registered nurse and had also been the personnel manager at Allied Egry in Leipsic from 1951 until she retired in 1987. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic and its Altar Rosary Society; a 1942 graduate of Ottoville High School; 1945 graduate of St. Rita’s Hospital Nursing School, Lima where she worked as assistant surgery supervisor for 2 years and surgery supervisor for 3 years. Mrs. Benton was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
            A Mass of Christian burial will begin 10:00 am Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm on Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where a parish rosary will be said at 7:00 pm.

Jacqueline K. Looser, 55, died at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 22, 2009, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Delphos.
            She was born July 7, 1954, in Lima to Melvin and Alberta Recker Maas, who preceded her in death. She married Tom Looser, who died Jan. 4, 2009.
            Mrs. Looser worked for Progressive Stamping, Ottoville. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.
                Survivors include two sons, Brian (Tracy) Looser, of Kalida, and Josh Looser, of Ottoville; three daughters, Gina (Jeff) Geise, of Cloverdale, Amber Looser, of Perrysburg, and Jennifer (Tony) Quartana, of Ottoville; six grandchildren, Ethan, Jocie and Brayden Geise, Haley and Caden Looser, and Nicholas Quartana; two brothers, Melvin (Pam) Maas and Randy (Johnny Galvan) Maas, both of Austin, Texas; and four sisters, Connie (Ed) Etzkorn, of Landeck, Jean (Mike) Hamel, of Glandorf, Karen Cramer, of Kenton, and Rhonda (Tom) Hawkin, of Austin, Texas.

Eugene J. Liebrecht
Eugene John “Gene” Liebrecht, 82, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Ottoville, died Sept. 18, 2009, at Legacy House Hospice, Ocala, Fla.
            He was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Fort Jennings to Lawrence and Frances Schumacker Liebrecht, who preceded him in death. On June 18, 1949, he married Jeanette Hohlbein, who died July 14, 2005.
            Mr. Liebrecht retired in 1998, as owner/operator of Hy-Way Engine Rebuilders, Ocala, Fla., after 25 years. He had been a mechanic for National Airlines in Miami for more than 10 years and a mechanic for Lake Central Airlines and TWA, both in Indianapolis. He had also been owner of Liebrecht TV, Ottoville. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed rebuilding airplanes and anything mechanical, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
                Survivors include a son, Dennis L. Liebrecht, of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Becky M. (Doug) Gilchrist, of Tavernier, Fla.; two grandchildren Troy Gilchrist and Brent (Amber) Gilchrist; four brothers, Jerry Liebrecht, of Peoria, Ariz., Cleo Liebrecht, of Ottawa, and Harold Liebrecht and Joe Liebrecht, both of Delphos; and three sisters, Alvera Ernst, of Garden, Ill., Mary Ann Michel, of Ottawa, and Carol Fischer, of Delphos.
            He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Liebrecht.
            Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740.
